On Monday night I stopped in Walmart to use their coin star as I had way too much change lying around. It was around 10pm so customer service was just closing down. One of the managers was nice enough to take me to a register to cash out my ticket. They handed me 2 $100 bills and some smaller change. Turns out both $100 bills were counterfeit when I tried to deposit them into my bank. i went back to Walmart today and was told that there was nothing they can do. I asked the manager, 'so you are saying if I returned a $1000 tv and u have me $1000 in counterfeit money there would be nothing you could do' her reply was correct....I have never been so enraged with a business in my life. I will never ever step foot in a Walmart ever again!!!!!

Go to electronics and put your foot through a $200 tv. You wont get your money back but it might make you feel a little better.

call corporate and see what they say about it I did call corporate and they are putting in a request for the store manager who will contact me in 1 to 3 business days. however I had to remind her to get my phone number so it really felt like a 'we are gonna call you and tell you then same thing in 3 days and hope you cooled down'

Sounds like a nightmare scenario.

Pretty much. They will look at videos and stuff, and try and track how many counterfeit bills were made. Have a police report made and send that to cooperate, they should take care of you then.

I'd let my local news affiliates know that Wal-Mart is dealing in counterfeit bills. If it could happen to you, it could happen to anyone... Plus, public shaming seems to be the only way to get businesses to do anything these days.

I guess their mentality is you could of just counterfeited them yourself then claimed they gave them to you and gotten free money out of them. I haven't been a cashier in like 5 years but when I was the procedure for checking for counterfeit bills was pretty in depth so its clearly poor training of their employees or carelessness of an employee on their part. Hopefully you can get compensated because I can only imagine how aggravating that would be.

Any counterfeit money is handled by the police. Its walmart, target, lowes...everywheres policy to call the police and report it, they're not allowed to deal with it.
Your bank should of taken the bills as well as, taken your info and the info where you received the fake bills so the police can trace it.
No counterfeit bill is to be handed back to the customer at any establishment, bank/store/wherever..due to possible recirculation.

Future reference..
Don't accept $100 bills from anywhere other than a bank.

I rather the police handle it than Walmart.

I really hate Walmart. Their customer service is horrible. Their ability to stock shelves is non existent. When I was younger I LOVED walmart but then you start noticing all their flaws. If I go to Walmart it's to do a quick stroll. I never go expecting much. Which is why I HATE that Mattel gave them an exclusive line of toys. I would call corporate if not I'd try to give them that money right back.

And then they don't say "hello" or "bye".. I actually haven't seen a greeter do their job at Wal-Mart in YEARS.. But they're always standing there.

I haven't been to a Wal-Mart in about 6 years and it is just liberating. I hate that place so much.

Am I the only one around here who knows you have to call the US Secret Service to report counterfeit bills?
