I just "rediscovered" a song from 1995, Grace - Not Over Yet and it got me looking through my music collection and listening to tracks from years gone by, mainly early-mid 90s stuff. It just reminds me of how sick I am of modern music.... There's too much Hip-Hop, Rap, Pop Rock, Garage, etc. around for my liking. I mean don't get me wrong, I like all those genres in small doses. But I dunno, music just seems crapper in the 2000s... especially right now... Am I just getting old (I'm 21)? Or does anyone else (preferably old enough to remember early-mid 90s music!) feel the same? I miss (decent) dance music the most I think...

the funny thing is, i bet at least 75% of the klaxon's 'fans' don't even know not over yet is a cover.
but no, i've never been a fan of pure dance music. never will be, either. so i don't really miss the music from the mid-90's.

Im kinda living in the 80s at the moment, going through all Princes back catalogue.
But im also in touch with modern music, and some of it is amazing, while some is just utter shit. I wish there were more artists like Prince at the moment. Not because im a super mark, but he done some proper good tunes and it would be good for artists of today to replicate it.
Klaxons done quite a good cover of that song you reccomended. You should give it a listen (Y)

yeah yeah blah blah blah
some of the good 1990's music, i werent really old enough to remember. Some tracks i remember well and remind me of my childhood. That "Set You Free" track? Was that in the 90's? I loved that one. The 90's definatly had some good dance music no doubt

Classic Rock I miss, I miss all the great rock bands compared to now, but you get good and bad at any time.

My biggest dislike is for hip-hop and rap. I just really hate both. All though for some reason I do like Eminem alot. All other music like that I can't stand it. I wish there was more bands about that had their own sound. So many bands just sound the same, or can be put in the same category. Also people just dance like retards, or don't move at all. I am a big fan of Weezer and they don't move around too much but that works for them, but what happened to bands giving that special feeling? The only band who seems to do that these days is Muse. I want to see people debating on who will be the next number one, Weezer, Muse, or Tenacious D

95% of modern music is crap in my books, I doubt we will ever get music of the same quality as we once did. (60's to 90's)

Most of my favourite bands have broken up.
I was really young when that 90's dance came about, but some of it was really catchy.

See, in the 90's i use to get smash hits mag, so the music i listened to was just from there, but you can never go wrong with abit of the spice girls, 5ive, and only certain Back street boys songs.. There was so much cheesy crap, it was ace.. Lets not bring the fashion back tho..

this will always happen. I like modern music, but in 10 years time, i probably wont like the 2010 era of music.

Like my nana, she still listens to stuff from the 50's all doris day and frank sanatra and all that lot... my mum listens all the old punk and rock stuff from the 70's and 80's.. (even tho she listens to stuff from now too) So does that mean, when were like 40, we'll be listening to artic monkeys and gwen stefani.. and also, if we listen to stuff from the 70's now, if we listen to it when were 40 year old, how weird would that actually be, like the kids of them days, will of proably never of heard half of the stuff we would of growning up.. all the music thats around now, will be seen as old and "vintage" "retro"

most people here where probably born in the mid 90s. anyway, i agree that modern music is poor generally, apart from obvious exceptions like the killers. But to be fair, the 90s wasnt that great either.. Now 90s films, theres a different story.

I've got an absolutel mixture of stuff on my computer. It's alright listening to modern day bands and stuff, but sometimes there's only so much you can be bothered with, so it's good to have some legendary classics from when I was a Kid and that. Just flick through the old Now Albums, 44 being one of them ;[
