Only good things to come out of the 90's really were The Stone Roses, Oasis and The Verve. Even then The Stones Roses came about in the late 80's

I just "rediscovered" a song from 1995, Grace - Not Over Yet and it got me looking through my music collection and listening to tracks from years gone by, mainly early-mid 90s stuff. It just reminds me of how sick I am of modern music.... There's too much Hip-Hop, Rap, Pop Rock, Garage, etc. around for my liking. I mean don't get me wrong, I like all those genres in small doses. But I dunno, music just seems crapper in the 2000s... especially right now... Am I just getting old (I'm 21)? Or does anyone else (preferably old enough to remember early-mid 90s music!) feel the same? I miss (decent) dance music the most I think... Finally somebody agrees with me about music from the 90's. I absolutely hate this new indie/rock crap that's takng over. You can't dance to it & it all sounds the same... yeah some people can say "yeah but dance music's all sounds the same too"... well maybe so but at least it's ing tuneful & it's not performed by some tramps that look like they've came from the streets. I don't get what everyone sees in crap like this. Assassin, if you want any dance songs from the 90's that you can't get hold of or simply can't remember.. just ask me

No way, i got a huuge Vinyl collection of Breakbeat & Drum & bass tunes for the clubs.
I like modern (electronic) music as it continually generates new tunes almost daily and with all that older Classic Rock you obviously don't get any new stuff.

2007 produced the album of the decade. I'm pretty happy with the current state.

Are you joking? The 90's was one of the ****e'ist deacdes for music, the deacde of girl/boy bands, how wank were that, but as 0272 said it did produce the bands like Oasis and The Verve. Every deacade has good and bad music but the 90's is renouned for being ****e. This decade has brought some good music, bands such as The Strokes, The Libertines have brought something back and new to the plate and sparked off some great new bands. This decade has had some crap though, Scooter and Dj crap like that which has been made on a lap top computer with a stolen back track/beat and some ghey high pitched voice.
I'm biased when it comes to guitar music, because it takes originallity and skill where as pressing a few buttons on a lap top doesn't take much.
lew2007 you just gotta look at you car to see why your opinion is what it is.

I hate the modern UK music, reason why is because its all pop e.g Mika, McFly ect.
Thats why I've started listening to US music, well mostly US Rock, its great
Edit--
I do listen to the UK Indie/Rock stuff and I do agree alot of the 90's stuff was good e.g. Ash, Manics, Some Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene ect.

Scooter were amazing in the 90s and they're not that good right now, but they were one of the few bands of their genre that had proper song structures and that's what's so good about them. They may have stole a bit of music here and there but they don't usually make it too obvious, unlike Kanye West and Rihanna's music which you can clearly hear the ripped riffs. Anyway, indie is usually depressing crap, i suppose if you come from the area than it might be good, problem is there are too many chavs about nowadays and they constitute much of the record buying (sorry, downloading ) public. Bring back power metal and decent thrash I say. Most of these crappy whore and master RnB one offs like Timbaland imitators I'm completely sick of. Also the acoustic songs and did I mention EMO? The lesser is said the better. I much prefer 80's to 90's music, and I can't honestly say I have discovered any really decent bands within the past few years that are new. I would say Gojira except they came about in '96.

Indie? Depressing? The two words rarely come together.

Scooter are different from the DJ crap that steal songs.
Scooter actually produce their music, whereas DJ crap like DJ Rankin/Pulse/Cammy and all that shite are a disgrace. They do just steal music and add shitty high pitched acapellas over them.

Yeah, your opinion, fair enough.
But I hate how people are so ignorant to other people's music tastes because it isn't the same as their own.

It's funny I saw a photo on someone's bebo page of like Dj Rankin and some others and they're all like 30+ middle aged gel'ed haired River Island wearing goons. I reckon I come across quite elitist with my Music but it's only because I feel oh so pationate to music, it's my life music, but I do listen to a lot of hip hop/rap/rock in other peoples cars and enjoy it as it is nice to step away from your peferred music

It depends.
I can't stand alot of the modern crap that's out there today. Things like Mika, Amy Whinehouse, ect. They just don't interest me. Then there's some quality stuff being released, too. I've discovered a couple of bands that are fitting to my taste of music. I think Ben's Brother are brilliant, Biffy Clyro is superb and Gym Class Heroes are damn good, aswel...and I usually hate any rap/Rn'B.
I also choose to listen to American rock, something alternative to the stuff that dominates our charts. I like music that people haven't really discovered yet, it's something different.
As for classic stuff, I don't really like alot of 90's music, give me the 80's any day. I listen to Forgeiner, Jourey, Boston, Michael Bolton, Elton John, there's loads of decent stuff out there.
Overall, it really depends on your taste in music.

No dude, the reason they take the piss out of Enter Shikari is because Enter Shikari SUCK. Actually the latest Chilis album is their most varied yet, a bit from their old stuff, a bit from the middle of the road stuff, a bit from the new stuff, and a few styles never heard before. I do agree with you that most of the songs on btw sound the same.I would agree that they are less popular than they were a couple of years ago and that's a good thing. Linkin Park sold out with their new one, it sounds exactly like all emo bands, i would never have thought they were that desperate for cash. I hate people who say they like this album and not the old stuff, when it should be in reverse.

There is a lot of bollocks out there at the moment, but there is so much good stuff. The 90's was okay, grunge was pretty good like.
