I think the US title would have been great for Mahal. He could have Lance Stormed it by re-branding in the India Championship. Or he could have bragged how a foreigner that US fans disrespected is now their champion. Would have been a great stepping stone.

I have stayed completely quiet on the topic of Mahal because, as dumbfounded as I was at the conclusion of Backlash that he actually walked out of Chicago with the WWE Championship, I did want to give Jinder a proper chance to show if this ultra-push from jobber to top star would be worth it...and I'm, unfortunately, not feeling it. Might be the feud with Orton that had a similar finish to each of their 3 matches or it might be due to the many losses he acquired since his return, but it's been so hard to shake off the fact that he was on Curt Hawkins's level of believability in terms of being able to carry (what's supposed to be) the top strap...which is weird since I do believe that he has the look and presentation of someone that belongs on that pedestal. It's been a bit paradoxical in my eyes.
It seems inevitable that his next match will be with the man that's more The Face of America after tonight than Kevin Owens could possibly ever be. Hopefully his feud with Cena can help Mahal truly show that he is truly deserving of the spot...

We were wrong. Jinder was right to be hindered all along.
Oh well, ya live and ya learn. At least he'll be getting squashed by Cena soon.

Jinder's name does not belong with the names that held the title before him.

I legit cant think of a worse least deserving WWE champion of the last 20 years or so. I've given it a few weeks to win me over and nope, Not having it. This dude just doesnt have the talent to carry that title around. Shouldve experimented with the US title instead of damaging the WWE Championship's lineage.

Honestly I've just been fast forwarding through all his stuff sans his match vs. Dillinger a couple weeks ago. I can't say whether he's been or bad, just that he was booked to the top way too soon and without any build up, and I have no interest in watching another evil foreign heel gimmick.
His entrance is outstanding though.

The only thing Jinder has going for him is his look. The title doesn't mean a thing anymore remember 2 years ago Seth Rollins was champ and he lost almost every match.

I will say this, WWE did a great of making a big time heel out of Mahal. He went from an actual jobber to somebody they can put in the main event in the future if they ever need a heel. But thats all the good I have to say on Jinder.
He hasnt impressed me one bit in the ring. Your WWE Champion should not have to learn on the fly like they are doing with Jinder. This is why you prep guys before putting them in the main event, you cant just throw them in there. I do feel bad for Jinder seeing he had to work 3 PPVs with Randy Orton but that cant be the excuse for a piss poor program. Orton is over, find a way to make it work.

I can 100% guarantee that if we put the belt on the indy darlings like Sami Zayn or Shinsuke Nakamura, nothing would be different, the ratings would still be the same, sure the fan reaction would be different, but in the grand scheme of things; it'd be the same.

Here's the thing though, just because guys like AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn and others like that are internet favourites, or even crowd favourites, doesn't mean they deserve to be WWE Champion all the time - or given the chance to be.
Anyone could be WWE Champion, because the pencil decides, not the wrestlers. Were guys like Stan Stasiak and Ivan Koloff worthy of being WWE Champion?? What about Sgt. Slaughter, Sycho Sid or JBL?? It doesn't matter, because they were given the chance, and whether they succeeded or failed at it, it didn't matter. The wrestler doesn't make the belt, the belt makes the wrestler.
Jake Roberts once said, "I never needed any title belt in the WWE because a belt was used to get someone over, I was already over, I didn't need it." Without the WWE Title, Jinder would be just another guy on the roster. At least now, he is someone of importance and could be seen as equal to Kevin Owens if it was a tag match against Randy Orton and AJ Styles.

Jinder's reign is reminding of the early stages of JBL's run at the top of Smackdown.
Now that he's hopefully past Randy Orton finally we can truly start to see where a Jinder Mahal championship reign can go.

I want to see him work a program with someone other than Orton before I'm ready to call it. I like Jinder Mahal, I'm glad he was given his chance but they've totally neutered him with the evil foreigner bullcrap.

I think he's done an exceptional job given the opportunity and literally the only one he's worked with is Orton.
People complain about the same talent being Champs, then when a completely new face is Champ -- people complain.

Vince McMahon Kane Andre Rey Sid Stan Stasiak Big Show
Were all worse champions.
I'm indifferent to Jinder as champion, but given how quickly he was put into it and the fact that he's stuck with an unmotivated Orton, I think he is doing fine. I feel like most haven't even given him a chance because they are butthurt about him going from a jobber to champion so quickly. His reign will end to Cena eventually. Everything will be fine. It's pro wrestling.
Besides, after they gave Jeff Hardy a couple of Championship reigns, I learned not to take it too serious.

He will be champion until Vince feels the WWE has a strong footing in India which is the whole reason they put the title on him to begin with.

The presentation I love, but they tried to do the Backlash finish 3 times. Heard people say the house show match he had with Seth was pretty good. Could it be Orton? A lot of people think he and Wyatt had average matches because he wasn't feeling it. Working with Cena will be the true test I feel. Cena always gives everything. Sure they were all dusty finishes but when you're a main eventer and have been for years and you have to lose to a guy who's W/L is I think I saw 80/340 and was a jobber weeks prior losing every match since his return, I wouldn't be into the matches either.
