Since Mattel just brought back "Hasbros" and I'm buying current figures for the first time since the 90's. It would have sucked if they lost the license, unless of course it went to Hasbro.

Good news. I wouldn't have the energy or money to start collecting a new line.

Loving the Mattel line, but a part of me wanted to see a different company's take on wwe figures (Hasbro, since marvel legends is better than DC multiverse line)
Congrats to Mattel.

WWE like many others now have more than one toy maker, obviously Mattel is the main one, then you have figuarts ( had high expectations but the figures don't look good so haven't picked any of them up) and jakks in certain territories. I hope Mattel gets to keep doing wwe figures for a long long time, but I'd also like to see guys like Diamond select, mafex or neca do them as well, something like 1 or 2 figures per month.

Might as well extend it til 2030.
If WWE and Mattel ever somehow parted ways, I think I would be done collecting wwe figures. When wwe parted with Jakks I was very disappointed but then Mattel just totally knocked it out of the park and I've never been happier to be collecting. If WWE went elsewhere I don't see the quality being better or even as good, unless they went with hasbro. BTW ( a little off subject) Hasbro is completely killing it with the Marvel legends line, probably my favorite line of figures.

But Mattel surpassed me expectations. Nobody out there other than Hasbro, and maybe McFarlane that could top Mattel. They raw doing amazing work.

so we still have 4 more years at least to potentially get Owen Hart.... Martha won't probably be dead in 4 years though so we may need a few more extensions to hope for this one.

One has to wonder if there is going to be any drastic changes to the mattel line during this time. Jakks got the license I believe in 1995/1996 and went from BCA to TTL to RA to DA before losing the line in 2009. If Mattel sticks to their formula the Basic/Elite lines will be the most developed series of wrestling figures of all time (if not already). 11 years of the exact same style of figures is almost unheard of in todays age.

Good point, but a scary one. I hope they keep the basic/elite formula. It's working. A new main-line style will be just as devastating to my collecting as if a new company were taking over. If they do something like that then I'm out. EDIT: I think their joint tweaks, such as messing with the elbows, are a sign that they are trying new ways to improve what's already there. The only thing that could force them to change the scale would be if other toy lines started going way bigger or way smaller for their main lines. I think Mattel would likely try to match that. When I was a kid, WWF hasbros went well with other toys of the era: TMNT, X-Men, etc.
