I've just been sent this photo from a fellow collector on Twitter. I don't know why the stores feel it's OK to display figures like this when they're taking customers money. If they're clearance then fair enough, stick them in a bucket and half the price. It's not to do with space, it's just laziness. Put a few out on pegs and then replace them once they've been sold... This just happened at my Walmart too. The remaining Hasbro-style figures are just dumped on the shelf without a peg. They could have easily put a peg in there. This was a part of downsizing the WWE section to about half of it's size. Such a shame. I get it if they have to downsize the WWE section but why just throw them all in a pile like that? It's not like they're even on special offer yet.

Not specifically WWE-related, but I recently purchased a case of the Thor Marvel Legends wave where I work. I opened it in the store afterward and almost all of the tops of the packages were smushed and bent from the way they were placed in the box. I open everything so I don't care, but I can see how this would have been a nightmare for MOC people, especially if you just bought the case and went home with it before taking a look inside. It looked like they were put in upside down in pairs, so they barely fit. Probably just a mistake or something. I suppose it's possible that someone opened the case and fiddled with it and then taped it up again, but it didn't look like it was tampered with.
From what I've seen of the cases I've opened at work, the Mattel cases (WWE, DC Multiverse) tend to stack the figures inside and alternate the cards so they each lay flat and sort of interlock, whereas the Hasbro cases (Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black) just slot each figure into a line. It probably doesn't make any difference, but this could be responsible for some of the odd damage that occurs to the packages in specific instances where it wasn't just some unsupervised brat who flung them across the store as others have mentioned.

The few List of Jericho exclusives I've seen at GameStop have had destroyed cards
