Former WWE World Champion Sid Vicious was recently interviewed by Hannibal TV and gave his thoughts on some of the current stars:
“This is the thing … it reminds me of the time I left, when business was hot. I came back as Sycho Sid, and I was looking at people like Rex King and Steve Doll, and I’m going, ‘Hold on. I know these guys and they’re not money people. What’s going on?’ When I got there, I saw business was that bad. I hate sayin’ it, but I see people like Kevin Owens and this Yakamora guy, and these other people like this. When I see that, I’m going, ‘Business has gotta be bad, or they’re at a point where they don’t care.’ That’s all I know.”
Sid also commented on Roman Reigns:
“I think he’s one of the better talents they’ve got. He looks credible, he looks good, [he’s] a good interview. And if we’re gonna compare him to anybody, let’s just compare him to the last guy you said, the fat guy in the T-shirt, Kevin Owens. There’s no comparison. I think he’s light years ahead of that guy.”

Sid is still thinking that to be a WWE superstar you have to have a physique and muscles and all that jazz. Where, yes, that probably does help with things, a lot of the wrestlers now in the WWE are smaller in height, build, mass, weight, etc.
But I still think Sid is the man!! Sid!! Sid!! Sid!!

Eh. Just based on the way he speaks, you can tell he knows very little about the current product. At the end of the day, he's entitled to whatever opinion he wants, but I also don't think he understands how much the business has evolved.
Roman Reigns is a top star, there's absolutely no doubt about it. But he's miscast, and there's really no doubt about that either. Kevin Owens is Kevin Owens. He's never going to be a "face of the company" type guy, but he's a better worker and a better promo than Reigns, objectively. The only area where Roman is "light years" ahead of him is in appearance, and that goes a very long way with Vince, so, we're where we are.

I value Ellsworth's opinion higher than Sid's.

I'm betting if he trashed Roman everyone would praise his opinion.

He is stuck in the 80s way of thinking when it comes to building stars. So is Vince, Which is why we have to have Reigns continuously shoved down our throat.

That's not a bad formation of words from a man that has half the brain I do, it's not good at all, but it's not bad.

I'm betting if he trashed Roman everyone would praise his opinion. you mean, if sid's views were spot on with several of the board members they'd agree and speak highly of his opinion? god forbid! anyways, sid was a great wrestler but was never exactly known for his brains. these types of wrestling criticisms are common place amongst the old timers.

How can he really say if by the sound of it he doesn't even really pay attention or watch the current product. When Owens first came in I didn't get the hype. I didn't watch his Indy work but have heard of him. He was whatever to me. Then he started getting the push I still didn't get it. But then I don't know when or why but I started to see it. The guy is pure ing money! His heel work is AMAZING. His promos, ring worn and especially how he interacts with the crowd/audience. He is one of the very few you can say has the complete package. He may not be 7 foot and 300 pounds and look like he has a needle still stuck in his ass but those days are over. Roman struggles so much because that's all he really has going. Is that "look". Everything else since he left the shield has been cringe worthy in my opinion. Sid is just stuck in the old days where that's what got you by

Let's cut Sid some slack....
I think Sid makes a great point...The WWE is kind of like a Jay Leno Monologue. You have to have the smart ones that only a handful of your audience will get. You have to have your geography jokes because you want people from all over the world to feel they are part of the show, then you have your can't miss always on stand by jokes, and then finally the bits that you are truly known for. You can fit a wrestler into most of these categories. Then sometimes you don't know what's going on and you tune in and say "Hey what happened to Johnny?"
Edit: I left out a squeegee pun, someone help me out

Love "Yakamora guy"
I think Owens is great. He only needs 2 simple characters whether he's Face of heel. As a face he just needs to be the guy rising above everyone crapping on him so that he can provide the best life for his family. He's the "every man" type of guy. As a heel, he just needs to continue being the guy that's annoyed by everything and super arrogant.
A lot of older guys have trouble looking past his body. But his character work is at least top 5 in the business today. Watch close and he doesn't miss a thing. He gets all the little nuances a ton of guys miss. Quick example, on Sunday when Styles threw his jacket out of the ring, Owens reached out like he was trying to catch the jacket. It's just little split second things he does that make his performance seem more realistic. And also his conditioning is great. I can't remember ever seeing him really blow up during a match.
As for Reigns, I do agree that he's money. It's just a matter of going down the right path with him. He has a good look, he delivers in the ring, when not overly scripted he has a lot of charisma. If WWE wants to really pattern him after a past top guy, they gotta look at the Rock rather than Austin or Cena. They were never afraid to turn Rock heel and they shouldn't be with Roman. On Sunday, I loved how he heard the boos and just stood there and let it soak in. He needs to do more of that.

I find reigns way more entertaining than owens but owens is better in the ring in ways. I'd just much rather watch reigns.
