Dear Mattel, The last new WWE figure I purchased was in 1993. After a 24 year layoff I purchased the entire retro series 1. As I’ve waited for series 2, I caught the bug a little bit and purchased 12 Elite Flashback figures. Your plan with the retro line worked. You brought back an older customer. Granted I’ve only spent $230, but how many of “me” are there out there? I would bet a LOT. As a new collector, I certainly don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to demands and complaints. As a 40 year old marketing exec, I would just say that your company is misfiring with your execution of this line. great post! I’m in a similar position as you. While I may criticize the line, I will still buy each and everyone but i know if they don’t get their act together, the line will be short lived and my flash back into childhood will be over. Feel the exact same way. These retro figures are first ones I've bought since 96. You hit it right on the head! I will continue to criticize this line as well if they continue going in the direction they are. However, I will still be buying 2 of each figure they produce and hope this line continues so my childhood flashback doesn't end! |

On a more positive note, I just finished a Retro 2001 Sellout 3:16 Austin with red knee braces. I tried embedding the pics but I failed. I'm new here. One to replace my loose one, and the other for the second knee brace that I needed lol. I have the itch to do the "What?" And "101 Proof" versions next. |

I don't think most of these are horrible, honestly.
Mankind was the first figure that was really rough and then Goldberg is, admittedly, pretty disastrous.
You can debate poses and color choices, but none of the other figures in the line have been so actively awful.
Basically, they need to be far more thoughtful with their pose choices. Only powerhouses should have the bodyslam. Limit the jumping mechanism. Most mid-sized guys should either have the Martel pose, the Razor pose, or the straight punch. Introduce the suplex so some guys can have that.

It doesn't matter what I think of these because Roman Reigns and John Cena from wave 1 are so impenetrably dense that they'll never order wave 3.

Like it was mentioned before the whole point of these figures is the nostalgia effect. These are not going to be super detailed figures because Hasbro really wasn't either. As an example Macho Man series one had tape on his hands but was left unpainted, strange? yes. Why do they do these things? I have no idea but I'm just happy they are making these figures and I will buy them all no matter the action feature.

Why is it they can paint facial hair better on these figures than any Elite/Basic figure? The comparison between the goatee on this Goldberg versus the Elite one is laughable.

So the stands are imbedded on the cards? What's with the smartphone hashtag crap? Is that actually printed on or is it a sticker or something? Otherwise good to see some color added I guess.
