SummerSlam '88 - Phased out by 1996/1997 Phased back in 2011/2012 and ever since the brand split I'm having a really hard time watching, it has been a terrible consistent decline since the split was announced. Why did you phase out in 96-97??? That's when it started to get hot again! I know! Apparently, I missed the entire Attitude Era or whatever it is called, I'm told it was some big deal Just happened that's when high school started and just my interests shifted. It was just bad timing.

Started some time in 2001, I stopped watching smackdown for a while, then they took it live and it became must see TV. the few years before SD Live, it was basically raw lite, 1/4th ad breaks, 1/4th raw re-caps re-matches from raw, I believe Sandow vs Sheamus was a popular go to match for SD. Raw I missed the episode where Kane unmasked. thats it.

Started in 85 as a very young kid watching with mom and uncles. Stopped being a fan 2014/2015 I’d say? I still watch the big shows and catch raw/smack down occasionally (background noise).but definitely not a fan anymore. It’s such a habit to watch wrestling on mondays that I usually put on a classic show from the network.

I stopped watching WWF when Michaels dropped the title to Austin in 98. After that, i kept watching WCW for Jericho. I would tape WCW and fast forward to his segments and matches. Once i heard he was going to WWF in 99 i watched a few weeks but i felt like they didn't know what they had and tuned out again. I had followed Jericho for many years and still have my vhs collection of his pre-WCW matches from back in the tape days. The only PPV that i watched live as it happened since that Mania where Austin beat Michaels was when Michaels returned in 2002 at Summerslam. I still kept up with promotion outside of America, mainly FMW for Hayabusa. But i think in 98 with WWF i didn't like it because to me they didn't have anyone that could put on that amazing match that I just had to see. Austin before that piledriver could work great matches but afterwards he just never was the same. And The Rock was ok in the ring with a sloppy sharpshooter and could do 15 catchphrases and call it a promo, which to me isn't a promo. That bugged me about the Attitude era, everyone had to have a catchphrase they could put in their promos and say they did a good job because the crowd said it with them. Anyways, when Austin and Rock were being the focal point of the company, i just didn't have interest in it.
Oh and i started watching in the late 70s.

Fan since 1992, WM8 was my first PPV as a little kid. I inherited many of my cousins Coliseum tapes, so I watched stuff from 84-92 quite quickly, by the time I was 6 I had the timeline down pat. 84-87 are my favorite years. Hogan, good guy Andre Piper, Savage, Sheik, Steamboat, the MTV crossover. I could go on all night.
My love for wrestling started to decline around 2009, HBK retiring was the final blow. I hate the current product, a roster full of guys beating each other each week does nothing for me.
I was never a ROH or NJPW workrate guy, so these little guys being more athletic, does nothing for me. My idea of a great match is something like Rock 's Hogan in Toronto. Give me a hot crowd and ring psychology over these spot monkeys any day.
CM Punk was legit though, he was as old school as it gets imo.

Started with WCCW in 84 or 85. Not exactly sure. WWF in late 85/early 86, definitely before WM2. Slow fade out began around SummerSlam 91. Totally stopped after WM8. One of the last things I remember watching was Berzerker trying to impale Taker with the sword. Watched WCW casually from 96-98, mostly for the nostalgia trip. Started again with Punk’s pipebomb promo until sometime last year. I think early 2016.

Growing up in England, I used to watch the old World of Sport British wrestling with Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks (later Loch Ness in WCW) from around ‘86 or ‘87. It always used to leave me wanting more and seemed so legitimate and realistic, but when I look back on it now, I find quite it boring and ridiculously unrealistic! I missed it when it got cancelled in ‘88/89 and it wasn’t until late ‘91, when my parents got satellite tv, that I discovered WWF properly. Sure, I’d heard of Hulk Hogan, although I can’t remember how, but he did make a brief appearance in the title sequence for World of Sport in his white (presumably) AWA attire and even then I wanted to see more of him. In that 2 second clip his size and charisma stood out. Anyway, WWF in ‘91 seemed so brash, with all these unique gimmicks and huge personalities and entertaining wrestling style! I just caught the fallout from SummerSlam ‘91, so Survivor Series ‘91 was my first PPV (Technically, it was ‘Battle Royal at the Royal Albert Hall’) To me, it seemed that Hogan, Savage, Piper and Sid Justice were the big faces and Ric Flair, Undertaker & Jake the Snake were the main heels. Coz I still thought it was real I couldn’t understand why people like The Warlord, Ted DiBiase, The British Bulldog and Big Boss Man weren’t pushed more! Anyway, I was hooked instantly and I was straight down to the shops and bought or rented loads of videos and caught up on the history pretty quick. So, to now. I still watch out of habit, but only go out of my way for PPV’s. I usually catch up with the weekly stuff on YouTube. This started a couple of years ago. I’m a fan of the talent, but as with others, the booking just ain’t what it could be.

I've watched some stuff on the Network, but I always gravitate back to pre-Hogan WCW and late 80s WWF as some of the best.

I've watched some stuff on the Network, but I always gravitate back to pre-Hogan WCW and late 80s WWF as some of the best. It absolutely was a "had to live through it" era. Im not saying there werent good/cool moments or matches but for the most part it was very juvenile. Which, as a juvenile then, I enjoyed it at the time but now I very rarely go back to watch anything from the Attitude Era. Going back I find WCW in that era to still be a lot more enjoyable then WWF was. The nWo story line to be is still one of if not the greatest story lines in the history of wrestling....they just went too long with it.

I started watching wrestling March of 2000. I wish I remembered the exact date, but the first image I remember watching was Mick Foley returning from retirement to be added into the WWF Title match at Wrestlemania 2000. Now a days for live WWE, I watch the PPVs on the Network, and I rely of watching highlight videos on YouTube to save time, and I'll watch a little bit of RAW after work. I lost interest in watching the live TV shows in full, but I'll still follow it just so I'll know what goes down on the PPVs

I started watching in the late 80s.
Probably 1st stopped watching around 02-03. I would still watch Mania and maybe Royal Rumble and some Raws between the 2.
I have watched sporadically over the last decade. My kid was interested around Mania 28-29 but lost interest. I have always kept up by reading online but I have nearly zero interest in the current product.
I prefer Hogan era WWF and pre Hogan WCW. The Attitude era was great when I was 16yrs old but it's tough to watch for me now. Too fast paced and while the main event scene is okay much of the undercard is garbage.

Started watching classic 80's stuff when I was very young in 2000 and stopped watching initially in 2005 for a while because I got really into Star Wars that year and decided to buy those figures instead of RAs. I got back into wrestling in 2008 with the Michaels and Jericho feud but lost interest when I started middle school around the time of the Nexus angle.
I had been a huge Punk fan and loved his stuff with the SES so I kept tabs on what he was doing even though I wasn't watching the product and when he dropped the Pipebomb back in 2011, I became totally invested in the product again and started watching religiously after Money In The Bank, waiting for his return. After he came back, my love of wrestling was bigger than ever before. I started discovering the Independents and watching other alternatives to WWE along with Raw and SmackDown each week. Unfortunately, after Punk lost the title to The Rock at the Rumble in '13, I stopped watching every week and just started watching the Top 10 Highlight videos WWE posts to their YouTube (they're honestly a life saver if you don't have time/patience for a 3 hour show) and like I was in 2011, I just kept tabs on Punk again. I haven't watched a full episode of Raw since the post Mania 29 show.
Now I don't watch at all unless it's a match I've heard about and particularly want to see, although I do watch each NXT TakeOver show and the Big 4.

About 1988-89 is when I started watching whenever I saw it was on. I was drawn in by Rick Rude vs Ultimate Warrior. Then the mega powers explode angle made an impression. Granted I was 7. I was never really a big Hogan fan for some reason. I really got into the Rockers as well. After about 1992, I lost touch. But HBK brought me back in 1995. Since I was a fan of the rockers, his climb was intriguing to me. From that point I was a huge Shawn fan and watched every week until I got to college. I still watched a good bit of those early - mid 2000 years but I wasn’t into it like I was the 90s. When Shawn retired, I think that really did it for me. I try to keep up with it some but it’s just not the same. Some of that is the product and some is the fact I’m older. NXT drew me in and I had heard of Prince Devitt and then saw wwe signed him, so I watched that. Now I will check in and see how Balor and AJ are doing, but that’s about it.

I started watching around 97-98 and have never stopped. There are highs and lows but no matter how bad it gets, I can't see myself ever stopping. I just can't help myself.

I vividly remember watching Hogan/Warrior WM6 on a cheater box and thinking it was the greatest thing a six-year-old could ever see. But I didn't get hardcore into wrestling until '93, but I was utterly obsessed until early '97. Only a couple years but felt like 20 cause I loved it so much (Hasbros, birthday cakes, you name it). Then once I got to 7th grade I got into girls and punk rock and lost interest ... the Attitude Era just wasn't for me. (I'm binging it now on the Network and mostly feel the same way -- the main events are awesome but 85 percent of the shows are pretty bad.) I preferred the 80s/90s type of wrestling and still do.
Fast forward to early 2009 and I needed a new TV show to watch and just happened to give Raw another chance. Turns out the Undertaker and HBK are feuding and ... I'm totally in. Ordered WM25, watched their match, and between that, Jericho vs. the Legends and Punk's summer feud with Hardy I was all the way back.
Like a lot of others I'm not in love with the current product ... lately I just skim through Raw/Smackdown or skip 'em and stick to the big stuff. But I've gotten huge into NJPW -- this year was amazing and I recommend it to anyone disillusioned with the current WWE, the matches are out of this world -- and have a blast binging old shows on the Network. Ever since I came back in 2009 I'm a lifer, but I don't think there's anything wrong with skimming the current product.

I know a lot of people that post on this classic section miss the good old days and hate today's product. My question to you is what year did you start watching and what year did you get tired of wwe to the point where you aren't interested today anymore? My dad used to take me since I was an infant to house shows. The earliest memory I have right now is at the Maple Leaf Gardens on November 22, 1987 with the Hulkster taking on Dibiase for the WWF title so 1987 is probably the year I remember most, but not the first time. Hard to say because I remember many matches like Roddy Piper vs. Hulk on TV. The first time I stopped was in 1992. Second time I was a casual fan around 96-98. Third time was around 2003 and gave up for years till I started watching again in 2010-11. Then I kind of lost interest, but mostly lost interest with the "New Era". I mean I don't even know who is who anymore and Charlotte is probably my last favorite wrestler. I'm pretty much done with WWE.

Very nice question bud!
I started in the golden days of the early 1990s - Hulkamania runnin' wild etc! That's when I started collecting hasbro figures and the hallowed blue ring. I don't know why, but I have this vivid memory of a WWF Superstars match in 1992 between a face Sgt Slaughter and Ric Flair, the mountie interfered and electrocuted Sarge with his cattle prod, costing him the match in the process.
Was a big fan of Sting too, so would watch WCW worldwide and follow his matches also (against Rick Rude, Jake Roberts and Vader!). Led to me buying some galoob figures too lol! Think I watched up till around mid 1993 when Hogan left WWF and joined Dubya See Dubya, and then stopped (complete cold turkey).
Didn't start watching again till 1999 when the attitude era was at it's peak and Stone Cold was tearing the house down every week (along with upcoming guys such as The Rock, HHH etc.) That led me to starting my figure collection again: BCAs, then TTLs, and then RAs along with the CS figures which I totally adored! Watched continuously till around 2015 and with the emergence of the new guys (and eventual disappearance of our attitude era favorites), I've kind of lost interest to some degree. Don't watch Raw/Smackdown religiously every week now and just catch up via the WWE youtube channel if something cool happened or if there's been a good PPV. Still make it a point to order and watch Wrestlemania every year, a family tradition.
Guess it's like trying to compare apples with pears. Nothing will ever come close to the magic of the attitude era and I guess I just really miss the buzz and excitement that it brought.
