She isn't popping up three times a year to collect a paycheck and bury the women's division. Full-time. Her commitment to this should be enough to get people off her back. I'm not even some huge fan, but this is a great business decision with huge upside.
And this might get me some heat because I respect the hell out of the women for what they do, but if Ronda wasn't making her debut there is no way the women's Rumble closes the PPV. She is that BIG a deal whether people want to admit it or not.
The amount of overall female talent is probably better than it ever has been in WWE and around the world even. Unfortunately, history shows that women's wrestling usually doesn't draw. This isn't a reflection of the skills of someone like Lita or Charlotte. It just seems like no matter how much they close the gap between them and their male counterparts in the ring, the women have never gotten the respect they deserve from the casual viewing audience.
I think the hope here is that Ronda will be able to transcend that general audience and put a LOT more eyes on the rest of the women thus making them even bigger stars. This could be a very good thing for everybody involved.

Before her debut, I dreaded the prospect of Ronda Rousey in WWE. However after watching the manner in which she made her debut, and reading that she signed a full-time contract, I have to say that I'm optimistic about the future. I think how she actually ends up is in creative's hands. If they plan to book her as a female Brock Lesnar, an uncaring destructive bitch, then I have absolutely no interest. That's just dull and boring to me. I enjoyed seeing her at the Royal Rumble, because she debuted as a seemingly likeable character. I want them to book her as a face working her way up, gaining respect rather than demanding it. That's interesting to me and has the potential of getting me interested in her a performer, as long as she wrestles like a wrestler. If she's going to be another Shayna Baszler, then absolutely no thank you. A match consisting entirely of submissions and strikes is not a wrestling match that I want to see, ever.
I'm not a fan of MMA at all. Never have been, never will be. I just don't see the appeal in it. So whatever she did in MMA means nothing to me, and I don't see how the two industries can even be compared. As far as I'm concerned, she's a brand new star. Having her come in and be shot straight to the top winning the title within a couple of months would be a good way to drop my interest in her.
Before her debut I assumed that she'd be signed to a part-time contract, come in, destroy everyone and make them look like crap, win the title immediately, and then only show up every few months. Now that I know she's signed to a full-time contract and has seemingly quit MMA for good to be a wrestling star, that gives me hope that they're not going to do that, and are going to take time to establish her as a wrestler.
The problem that myself and other fans had is that if Ronda is made to look super strong at the expense of the rest of the women's division, then how could that possibly help anyone other than her? You need to build new stars. Ronda is not going to be around forever, and if they neglect building new stars just to make Ronda look strong, then what do they do after she's gone? Chances are that what with the media coverage Ronda is going to bring to the WWE, they're going to build the entire division solely around her. Again, that won't benefit anyone except Ronda Rousey. There's so many women that haven't yet been given the spotlight that they deserve, so if WWE go too far with Ronda, they will never get that chance. Of course I am suggesting worst-case scenario, but it's entirely possible that WWE will go too far with her.
That's not even talking about what a slap in the face to the rest of the women's division it would be if they are all presented as weak, pathetic and worthless next to Ronda Rousey.
Of course I understand why WWE have brought her in, and why they will make her look strong. But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Tl;dr - If WWE handle her right and slowly build her up over a long period of time as as a respectful character who wrestles like a wrestler, I'm all for it. If they make her a female heel Brock Lesnar who wrestles like Shayna Baszler, then I have absolutely no interest.

As a WWE fan first and a MMA fan after that, I can only feel completely disinterested in seeing her. Like what are we expecting here? In terms of in-ring performance, her to be on the level of Kurt Angle or Brock? I mean she’s also a movie superstar right, so she’s gonna have those promos to shame all others, right? She can do it all huh. That’s what I’m being told to expect by WWE. Except common sense suggests she’s gonna be clunky as , protected by smashing people with one move and have an “oh please don’t hit me!” attitude as that’s part of her persona. Add to that she’s awful at engaging an audience, she can’t act at all and has the personality of a wet toilet roll. The protection could be valid if the millions of people who saw Rousey/Holm and Rousey/Nunes have amnesia, she got beat so badly and then ignored her audience afterwards. Gimme Asuka vs Charlotte 60000 times before seeing “Hot Ronda!!” *pukes*

Legit fighter, good looking, full time contract. What's to complain about?

if Ronda gets really good at pro wrestling, she will headline a wrestlemania.

If the millions who saw TUF, also have amnesia, seeing as on that show, she proved she is completely devoid of personality and character - unless being a miserable, whiny, bitch counts as personality. This is not a McGregor, Rampage, Sonnen or Bisping type personality they're bringing in here.

For those saying she may not be a great wrestler, she has more of a chance at being great at that simply due to the fact that she is a world class athlete who's about to be trained by the names who know exactly what they're doing (unless she's being trained by Edmund lol)
Also, she's already a bigger star than anyone not named Brock Lesnar or John Cena... Hell, she's probably a bigger star than Brock!

There are conflicting reports as to whether the members of the women's roster voicing their displeasure about Ronda's arrival is a shoot, a work, or a combination of the two (as in, they're playing up their real feelings.) They're entitled to be upset, but I think their anger is misguided, quite frankly. Anyone who can't rationalize why this move was made evidently doesn't understand the wrestling business. This kind of stuff has happened for decades, is happening now, and will continue to happen in the future. The aim of professional wrestling, and, especially WWE, is to make money. Ronda Rousey makes money. There is undoubtedly going to be a little bit of overshadowing going on. That is to be expected, and cannot be avoided when you plop one of the biggest female athletes of all time in the middle of a bunch of women who only just recently started to become serious members of the WWE roster. This elevates the women's division to a place it has never been, and quite honestly, probably never would have gotten to without her. I suspect that, if the women in the locker room truly feel upset about this move, that they may change their tune once they're the one working opposite of Ronda and they start seeing their checks come in. In reality, what has to happen for these women to be credible opponents for Ronda? They need to be built up. They need to be featured prominently. They need to go on hot streaks. This forces WWE to pay closer attention to the women's division. If Ronda ends up being absolutely horrible, or gets bored and gives up months into this project, then a discussion can be had about whether or not this was a good move. For now, though, there are reports that the people who have been around her at the Performance Center have taken a tremendous liking to her, both personally and professionally. By all accounts, she seems to be taking this very seriously, is showing a great deal of respect for the business and the performers in it, and is displaying a great attitude about everything. Let's not forget, she's not just some celebrity off the streets playing fantasy camp. She paid her dues the same way the members of the roster did, she just happened to do it in another sport. Ronda is already the female equivalent of someone like Roman Reigns. She's bigger than Roman Reigns. The only two people on the entire roster that one could argue have more mainstream appeal and/or recognition are John Cena and Brock Lesnar. I don't care if Stephanie McMahon is responsible for this, or she's just trying to take credit for it. If it works, it works. Really an insult to the women to say that. They could garner attention themselves. TBH they really can’t. They don’t write the shows or make the advertisements or make major descisions. How big a star gets is 100% on the company. The wrestlers themselves have little to no influence on how they’re used (except for guys like Cena, HHH, Taker, Y2J, and other guys that have a personal relationship with Vince).

I’d be interested to know what Shayna really thinks of it all.

No way Ronda works "full time". She's going to get the Brock schedule. There is no way she would sign a deal to work that many shots.

As much as I despise Stephanie, Ronda is at least a believable top-tier talent who the people want to pay to see. So, basically, she is the opposite of Roman, ironically.

A Stephanie McMahon project? Ugh... I like Cornette's idea for booking Rousey, standing up to Stephanie and playing up her legitimacy.

Except it's been proven they can't. crapty booking doesn't help. They drew during the attitude era But they never drew nearly close to the men. Especially in the Attitude era where you had Austin/Rock/Foley/Angle/Taker/HHH/Jericho all operating at once. Sad but true. They drew some, but a small fraction of what the males did. ESPECIALLY in the Attitude Era.

If a person showed up to my workplace and was gonna put a lot more money in my pocket and more eyes on my work, then I’d welcome them with open arms regardless of what my personal feelings were.

Only female who drew big and was equivalent to some of the top faces of the Attitude era was Chyna. Can't see anyone topping her popularity and accomplishments..

That same excuse has been made for hundreds of wrestlers over the years. Both male and female. People need to cut her some slack. Already ripping the idea to shreds when all she's done so far is walk to the ring and point to a banner. Give her a chance at least. If you're truly a believer in this women's revolution then you should be rooting for her to be successful. She brings a legitimacy to the division that it's never seen before and will absolutely bring more mainstream attention to the other women on the roster. Bayley versus Sasha might always be a fun match, but it loses some luster after the hundredth time. The same five or six women have been facing each other every week in some form for a few years now. Time to shake it up.
