WWE Unreleased 86-95 Disc 1
Your Hosts Sean Mooney (Who?)and Charly Caruso
King Kong Bundy/Big John Studd/ Bobby Heenan vs The Machines- The Machines were played here Blackjack Mulligan and the future Ax of Demolition while the 3rd Machine I cant quite put my finger on but he does resemble a guy from Venice Beach Cali. with a tan and loves to wear red and yellow. Standard comedy match here to send the crowd home happy. End comes when Hoga.. I mean ''Hulk Machine'' hits Heenan with a big boot for the win. post match we get a glimpse of ''Hulk Machine'' and is indeed Hulk Hogan!! I enjoyed this match as even though it was mostly comedy it still was harmless fun.
Pedro Morales vs Randy Savage- Savage was still IC Champ here. Terrible match as Savage mostly stalls until we get just a few minutes of actual wrestling from Morales who by this point is pretty much done. Savage with the win after about 8 minutes with his feet on the ropes. Man not even the elbow drop? Bad match here.
Hulk Hogan/Roddy Piper vs ''Mr. Wonderful'' Paul Orndorff and ''King'' Harley Race- Hogan and Piper as a team is definitely a sight to see. For only a 6 minute match this was actually decent. Hogan slams and leg drops Harley until The Brain comes in for the DQ. Post match both Hogan and Piper double team Heenan. Those Bullies!! The typical posing ends it. Not bad here at all considering the finish.
Dingo Warrior vs Jose Estrada- This is one of Warrior's 1st matches in the company. This isn't a traditional Warrior match here as he actually does wrestling moves instead of just squashing the dude in under a minute. Warrior with a diving clothesline for the win. Bad match but definitely check it out just for Warrior actually wrestling.
Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage vs The Hart Foundation/Honky Tonk Man-We are joined in progress here. The heels have the advantage on Savage for a little while until the hot tag with Hogan picking up the win after the leg drop on Honky. Only about 5 minutes are shown but it's decent for what it was.
Owen Hart vs Barry Horowitz- This was pretty much a try out for Owen before he made it to TV as the Blue Blazer. This was a very fun match to watch as Owen was flying all around and looking like a million bucks in the process. Owen with the win after a diving headbutt from one end of the ring to the over in a great spot. Highly recommend this match.
Andre the Giant vs Randy Savage for the WWF World Title- This was taped post WM IV. Short match here with it being pretty much all Andre until Savage saids screw it and brings in a chair for the DQ. It's only 3 minutes long but bad as this match only made the new champ Savage look like a loser.
Demolition vs Powers of Pain- From the Summer of 88 here as POP just joined the company. In an odd sight Tito Santana of all people accompany POP to the ring.HORRIBLE match here as for a good 3/4minutes it's just stalling with no action whatsoever. After very little wrestling Demolition walks out of the match after about 7 minutes with like I said only like 3 minutes was ''wrestling''. Terrible match.
Andre the Giant vs Big John Studd- This is post WM V. You could tell Andre here is in bad shape by just looking at his facial expressions. Terrible stuff here as both guys are way past their prime and just moved around the ring horribly. Heenan comes in for the DQ and not a moment to soon I might add. It's no wonder Andre would be used mostly in tag matches after this.
Ultimate Warrior vs Randy Savage- Another match post WM V. Sherri is in the corner of Savage here. The new IC Champ Rick Rude comes out mid match to interfere when Warrior attacks him on the floor which causes him to be counted out. Warrior clears the ring post match. Good match here as these two always blended well together. Without question Savage was Warriors best opponent.
Dusty Rhodes vs Ted DiBiase- Pre match we get DiBiase offering Dusty money only to get turned down. He's just a common man!! I liked this match a lot as both guys blended well and we got an entreating match as a result. It's no surprise Vince would have em feud just a year later. DiBiase with the win after Virgil trips up Dusty with the money man falling on top for the win.
Andre the Giant/Haku vs ''King'' Duggan/ Hillbilly Jim- HJ is taking the place of Big John Studd as he left the company prior to this over a money dispute.Paint by numbers match here with Haku carrying the load for his team(understandably) as Andre's health was really declining by this point. The babyfaces win here after Duggan hit's Haku with his signature 3 point stance clothesline. HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Next up is a series of try out matches...
Brian Adams vs Barry Horowitz- Adams is billed from Oregon here. Terrible match. You know it's bad when Barry Hororwitz has to carry it. Adams with the win after a tombstone piledriver. Somehow this impressed Vince as less than a year later he would be signed and would be apart of Demolition.
Earthquake Evans vs Paul Roma- Slick is in the corner of Quake here in a odd sight. His gimmick here is that of a lumberjack billed from ''Yukon territory''. Just an extended squash with Quake mostly dominating. Quake with a elbow drop ends this one. I'm glad they just made em Earthquake and Jimmy Hart as his manager on TV as with this gimmick here along with Slick it just didn't click at all.
The Rockers vs Powers of Pain- Decent power vs speed match here as these two teams always clicked the few times they did meet during this time period. the finish comes when Fuji trips up Shawn causing the DQ. POP with the attack post match until Hulk Hogan of all people coming out for the save. Well this taped in Florida after all. Good match here for the time they were given.
The Colossal Connection(Andre/Haku) vs Demolition for the WWF Tag Titles-We're at the tail end of Andre's WWF run here as by this point he can hardly move around. I was glad to see em get a brief title run here though. Odd finish here as Demo are in control but for some reason DQ themselves when they use the tag belts to beat on Andre. Demo would win the belts just a few months later at WM VI. Watchable match but nothing more.
''Macho King'' Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior- This match was taped from the hard cam only and has a timer on the bottom. You could tell the film here to this match was in bad shape. Last match on this disc and again with these two it's more than watchable. It's petty much the same match as earlier but still entertaining. Savage comes off the top only to get nailed by Warrior on the floor which causes him to be counted out.Post match Warrior gives Savage and Sherri a double knocking knocker. Warrior picked on her a lot back in the day didn't he?
Final thoughts-Some good stuff mixed in with the obvious bad but hey that's normal with a big set like this. Matches I recommend are the opening tag,Owen vs Barry,Dusty/Dibiase, The two Savage/Warrior matches and Rockers/POP. Everything else feel free to skip as they range from bad to downright awful.
Next time on the Classic Reviews we'll continue on with Disc two which covers the early 90s and yep you guess it...THE TOXIC TURTLES!!
