Greetings, and welcome to the new WFWF General Discussion Thread! I figured the time was right for a new thread, given the fact that we're in a bit of a transitional period at the moment and we're seeing a small stream of new and returning users. I'd like to welcome everyone - new, old, and otherwise - to continue to make use of this thread for all your general, loosely WFWF related bullsh*tting needs. A very brief sort of "State of the WFWF" before leave y'all to it: I was supposed to tidy up this weekend, but then got deathly ill and had all my weekend plans on top of this place ruined. For you, I got up bright and early to finish up what I'm calling phase one. If you'll take a quick swing over here, you'll find our slightly new but modestly improved WFWF Title History. For the moment, this only contains our four most "modern" championships. As time allows, I'll continue moving all of the shortly lived titles of days past to the inactive history, but I feel like this is a much more concise starting point for what we've got going right now (in spite of how much it pained me to concede my own unprecedented tag title run). Up next is going to be a revamped and streamlined roster page that will be designed to ease transitional information as titles change hands and such, along with fixes to all our informational pages complete with repaired graphic links, etc. In short - bear with me, I'm trying to make this as concise as possible. I'll break the norm just this once to offer a hearty round of thanks to everyone - new, old, and otherwise - who's offered your help, responses, and your input these past couple weeks as King Richius and myself get the ball rolling. Back to Basics is shaping up to be a show I think the two of us will be really proud to hang our first set of hats on, and I hope that sentiment will be shared once everything's all said and done. We've got a lot of cool things in the mix - a blend of ideas both new and festering in the back our minds for some time - that I'm pretty excited about, and I hope that all resonates widely as it sort of comes to pass. For now, enjoy the taste of what's to come, keep at those RPs, and stick with us. I think it'll be fun. Now back to your regularly scheduled curmudgeoness.

I'm pretty excited to see what you guys do with the place. If I had even a shred of motivation to write anything, I'd consider a 15th return. Good luck.
I'll just go back to lurking as usual instead.

I second everything Deep Figure Value said. Obviously the new guidebook was my part of phase one. I think that that the guidebook combined with bad guy™'s recruiting drive and the updated championship history provides a great starting point for all the new members we hope to make a part of the WFWF family. Back to Basics should be a fun show, with a few twists and turns to set the tone for the WFWF in the months to come. We're just getting started. Look for some changes to the Hall of Fame. It may take a little while but bear with us. I hope my co-owner/mod is feeling better. I spent much of last week fighting a cold myself so I feel for ya.

The good news is I'll get to see those guys again....in August. At least I have work.....

I haven't paid taxes since going on disability in 2011. Makes the first quarter of the year much less stressful.

Real talk, though - how's everyone doing on those RPs? I'm starting to see exactly why guys like Drakz greatly scaled back their character participation during their ownership runs, and I'm downright impressed that Rated R kept as active as he did for so long. Mine'll be done on time, and it'll be fine enough (considering the whole lot of nothing I've left myself to work with, story wise), but even now I can see I'm settling for a considerably scaled back effort as I stare down the barrel of everything else I've still got to do after the fact.

I think it would be cool if you guys made a website for WFWF and set it out with a roster page, news page etc.

I think it would be cool if you guys made a website for WFWF and set it out with a roster page, news page etc. We've pretty much got all that here, largely just under construction at the moment. Now that the championship history is at least clean and current, my current project is a new roster page. Our news page is the second sub-board to this one, and any "WFWF.com" stories will spend at least a week stickied to the main board here before being archived. For the moment, I've killed the old roster thread, as it was 100% graphic dependent, which all got shot to hell when Photobucket experienced their fascist regime change. Given how outdated it was and how many new slots we have, I'd be better served making all new graphics for everyone on board, and it would take the same amount of time as digging out the old hyperlinks, saving all the old ones, and reupping them to TinyPic or something.

I think it would be cool if you guys made a website for WFWF and set it out with a roster page, news page etc. That was tried years ago, actually. Old owner we had named Yukio, whatever the other old timers here feel about him aside, had some great advertisement/production ideas. He got a whole free domain set up, had a roster page, had our title history and everything. But as time went on, he got busier IRL and eventually stopped updating it. I think the domain just recently, finally expired. It's something I'd be interested in doing again. I would do it with the blessings of the owners, because generally speaking I'm a walking WFWF Encyclopedia from 2007-2018 at the very least, and know a nice chunk of the history from 2003-2006 thanks to a couple of guys I talked a lot with when I started here, Yukio included. Problem is, I'm not too good with programming. I don't know much about coding websites. I've learned banners and stuff since I became an admin here, but that's also Proboards coding. To do it at all I would want to do it to perfection and use it as an advertising tool for the efed ranking sites like Knights and stuff, however few are left standing. An increased Twitter presence would be nice too. I dunno. Problem is, this hobby of ours is very much dying. At its peak, even the smallest of sites didn't need advertisement to get people to join and try it. Hell, people did snail mail in feds before the internet was widely available with the free AOL discs. Now, WFWF is probably the strongest hobby board on WF, thanks in large part to some of our guys refusing to hang up the boots as to not let the board they helped build die. But WF is a site of 11k people, with maybe 2-3k active daily and we have to scratch and claw to get people to take an interest. Regardless of opinion on them, I (and many others even if they won't admit it) are thankful guys like c-scope and Dr. Mantis Toboggan MD hung around and participated as much as they did and still lurk, and that I found a freaking gem in King Richius my last recruitment drive. I'm hoping this new breed, y'all new guys, will help keep this place chugging along long into the future, and that they may help bring in a Renaissance of sorts to the board. But times are changing, and it's getting difficult for any long standing efed to keep itself treading above water. Hope we can do more than that here. Sorry for the long winded response to a "you should make a site" comment, but I feel it's fair to state for the newer guys to see exactly what's up and why this recruiting and rebranding is so necessary.

I have zero interest in anything offsite as related to WFWF, save for those who wanted to get a bit more in depth with that whole Twitter gimmick that was popular here a few years back for like 20 minutes.

For me, DB kinda exists between these walls, and if there's something I can't convey within those trappings, then to me, that's something to work on, but far be it from me to tell anyone how to go and creatively express themselves.

Wix.com is very easy to use. It's just drag and drop items, nothing fancy or confusing.

To further the matter along - I see no particularly good reason to create an offsite hub of information that's already contained herein. It could just be my 21st century business oriented mind speaking aloud, but I'm not a particularly large fan of redundancy.

That much, I think everyone can agree on. To a point, I think advertising falls flat with us because we're hosted. I've got no interest in moving house, but even with a direct link, I don't think being buried way down at the bottom of a [low grade rung] public forum does us any favors, either. All the same, I'll take this over being a part of some of these e-fed "networks" I've seen out and about, if little more than the tipped scales of talent alone.
