I think it would be cool if you guys made a website for WFWF and set it out with a roster page, news page etc. I'll be honest, in my previous life where I spent twenty years as a library information systems manager I had to manage library information systems - funny how that worked out. A large part of my job was maintaining and constantly updating the library web site for the latest updates, bells and whistles that people came up with even though 90% served no real practical purpose. It was just people doing stuff because they could, a constant techno race to be the first to say "Look at what I can do. Ain't it cool?" I got really soured on web site design and doing it now would be too much like work. I think we have a good setup here for maintaining a vibrant community that is relatively hands off for myself and Deep Figure Value to maintain, once we complete the revisions we have in mind. Members have a one stop shop for show cards/results, RPs, "social media" posts, and WFWF history in the four boards that make up the WFWF here on WFigs. Spreading things out over two sites - I dunno about that. I'm not sure all of our members would be bothered to visit another site as part of their regular WFWF routine and I would hate for them to feel excluded from anything as a result. We want to create an inclusive community, not an exclusive one if you get my meaning. This is not to say that I hate the idea. I just don't see the need and definitely would not be the one to create or maintain it. If somebody else wanted to step up and take on 100% responsibility then they're welcome to go for it. I won't be the one to squash somebody else's creative spirit. Just keep in mind it would probably live and die only as long as that person took care of it and any content would be non-canon. That's my nice way of saying I consulted my magic eight ball and it came up "not likely". Also, bad guy™ : I'm a gem? You're making me blush.

To further the matter along - I see no particularly good reason to create an offsite hub of information that's already contained herein. It could just be my 21st century business oriented mind speaking aloud, but I'm not a particularly large fan of redundancy. Yeah I feel ya. I just wanna get some advertising out there. That much, I think everyone can agree on. As I mentioned above, I have no objections but I also have no interest in doing the work. The idea of a portal to the WFWF with fancy bells and whistles has merit if it works as a recruiting tool.

Real talk, though - how's everyone doing on those RPs? I'm starting to see exactly why guys like Drakz greatly scaled back their character participation during their ownership runs, and I'm downright impressed that Rated R kept as active as he did for so long. Mine'll be done on time, and it'll be fine enough (considering the whole lot of nothing I've left myself to work with, story wise), but even now I can see I'm settling for a considerably scaled back effort as I stare down the barrel of everything else I've still got to do after the fact. I took me much longer than usual but this past weekend I got my RP to the point I'm happy with it. I'll be posting what I think is a competitive piece on time as usual. I don't have a job or the family life to deal with that you do though. I feel ya that it can be a lot to get done in your free time... and that's when you don't have to deal with an illness along the way. A general note for everybody: today and tomorrow are the time to ask for extensions if a day or two is all that separates you from finishing an RP you are proud to post.

I got about a quarter of mine done. But short of getting fired from my job, I don't think I am going to be able to finish it until Saturday when I get a day off. So yeah about that extension....

I have no problem with an extension to midnight EST on Saturday. I much prefer taking my chances against a good RP than getting a default victory over an incomplete piece.

You guys are talking about moving some stuff off this site, which is great and all, but I'm beyond glad the general discussion title is back to our current times. Thanks Drakz and bad guy™ for making it 2006 in the old thread in retaliation to my slight OCD.

Not after we've become such great friends...

I just wanna know if I can get away with a white room RP or not. White room? Oh yeah, a lot of the active guys now weren't around for that. It was Drakz vs. Schneider for the title a few years ago. Huge effing build up. And last second, Schneider has to pull out. Forget why, but unimportant to the story. Obviously Drakz had written an RP the quality to face Schneider, no half assing. But when Schneider came in a day or so before the deadline and backed out (still don't know if Drakz knew sooner or not), instead of wasting a great RP on a no show he archived it and posted something along the lines of: "Drakz walks into an all white room, nothing else visible but the man. He clears his throat, ready to speak. Drakz: F*ck you. Drakz leaves." And that was the world title RP. Not only did he win, but it got rave reviews for creativity.

Fun facts. Neither Schneider nor myself were planning on RPing for that show, we just made it look like Schneider had backed out so we could continue the build for another PPV cycle before the payoff at Superbrawl, which was actually my first match back after a year hiatus, so it wasn't for the title either. So yeah, I didn't write an RP until much later for the Superbrawl match. Clock & dagger. Prophet of Ash

Also deadline extension sounds amazing to me. I've not even opened a word document to start my RP yet.

So, I like to tell stories, and I'd meant to share this one back after it happened, but then I didn't. Anyway, it came up at work today, so, y'know, kinda fun...
...back at the beginning of the month, my wife and I were on Long Island for a weekend to see Rob Paulsen & Randy Rogel perform together at the Tilles Center (if you don't know who these two are and can't figure out why we drove from god damned NH to LI for a 90 minute concert, stop what you're doing and look them up now). The plan was drive in, see the show, spend the night, enter the Hamilton lottery, and hit the big city the next day win, lose, or draw (spoiler - we still haven't seen Hamilton).
Living in NH, I've driven into "the big city" (Boston) on a fairly regular basis since I was 16. I generally think people afraid to do so are kind of a puss and personally revoke their Townie cards whenever they b*tch about how scary/overwhelming/frustrating it can be. Like, the Boston House of Blues is next door to Fenway Park, and unless the Sox are playing, I'd much rather drive straight into Kenmore and pay the $15 to park in the Landsdowne garage than pay the same amount to park in Cambridge and hike a 45 minute train ride in (and back at the end of the night).
Suffice to say, I wasn't jazzed about driving into a city that could sit on my beloved center of the universe without anyone noticing she'd gone missing, but I wasn't particularly psyched out by the matter...
...and rightfully so!
Boston - I luh u, bae, but NYC has got you beat, bruised, and broken when it comes to driving and parking. I sh*t you not, we just fired up the iPhone directions from the hotel to the garage we wanted to hit right smack dab in Times Square and just got down to it - 45 minutes in (same from my place to Boston), $20, done for the day.
I am never, ever, ever getting on one of the Chinese buses to get to NYC outta Boston again. I'm just driving.

As you may or may not know, I lived in Davis Square in Somerville for ten years. I used to go to the various clubs in Central Square all the time for shows, taking the T into Boston. Real pain in the ass though because the shows would end after the T stopped running for the night meaning I'd have to take a cab back home if I couldn't hitch a ride with a friend. One and only complaint I have about mass transit in Boston.
