I've been lucky as an owner, thus far, to have not had the integrity of how I call 'em called into question, but just in case anyone wanted to test the mettle of how fair and balanced a ship I run...
...as the member of my household with the most closed venues, failed bands, and cumulative shows under my belt, I am the supreme distributor of punk points around here. You'd think that I could just put myself ahead of the curve by virtue of the above, but my wife, who prefers J-Pop and rhythm game music, still holds the most punk cred in this house, being the sole member to have found themselves on the receiving end of a deliberate headbutt by one Wesley Willis.
Next to her, I'm just a poser.

We've each got our pinnacle moments that we fly high when comparing notes, but even I'm hard pressed to deny the volume of a Wesley Willis headbutt when my lone claim to fame is having met GG Allin's mom one time.

My closest brush with punk/alternative music fame is that Steve Albini of Big Black/Rapemann blew out his amp during sound check and ended up using my amp for the show. Right place, right time as I was interviewing the band before the show for the college radio station I DJ'd at and I had time to go home, grab my amp, and get back to the club before they had to go on. I like to think I saved Rapemann from doing a cheesy MTV style unplugged acoustic set.

Come on - I've told you about the DDR machine in my basement. Haha I had no idea that those games had a genre unto themselves. Yeah, there's a whole mess of 'em. DDR's the big one, but there's IIDX (5-7 keys and a turntable), Pop'n Music (brightly colored orbs), the Japanese 'Rock Band' predecessors. It's a whole thing.

The peak of my punk days goes back to 2010/2011 when Mad Sin, a psychobilly band from Germany played a bar where I'm from for an event that was billed as The Zombie Prom. Now in the psychobilly scene, Mad Sin are one of the more well-known bands and they mostly tour in Europe so seeing them live in the States was a pretty big deal. To commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime show, I whipped up a giant hand-painted poster for the band to sign hours before the show. Come showtime, the bar is PACKED, full of drunk zombies, vampires and witches. The show itself was amazing - I sung along the entire time. Due to drunks constantly getting on the stage, the booker or whoever that ran the place threatened to cancel the show on two, separate occasions. A drunk girl tried to stagedive and umm...they dropped her. The whole point of this story is that I got punched, shoved onto the stage twice, alcohol poured on me during a fight that happened literally next to me and had the poster I painted taken out of my backpack and stomped on by a couple of drunks. After the encore, I held the poster up in the air and the singer, Koefte blew me a kiss. I remember meeting the drummer, Andy Laaf after the show and he was super grateful that a fan would bring such a big, cumbersome poster to get signed since who brings a giant poster to a bar? He was super into it though. I managed to talk to the band and hang out with them for a bit before they grabbed their gear, hopped in a van and got driven to the airport. As far as I know, they haven't been back in the States ever since.

Short answer? I live in New Hampshire. For whatever reason GG's a legend up this way. Probably on account of him being all we've got (which is bunk - the Bruisers are from Portsmouth, but they're a "Boston band"), but nevertheless, June comes around and it's like an international day of bizarre mourning up this way, and there's always a memorial show toward the end of the month. His brother brings his band of creeps up, and there's usually some big to do at GG's grave before the show kicks off. I went one year 'cause the guy who gave all my bands their first shows plays it every year (he's generally revered as the less creepy, less vile spiritual embodiment of GG and played a ton with him when the Jabbers were his backing band), and Arleta just always happens to come out each year. I somehow managed to exchange pleasantries with her whilst maintaining an entire room's distance from his brother (and the rest of the Murder Junkies, for that matter).

Signups/Schedule/Roster page has been cleaned up a bit. I'll be making an effort to insert Kyzer, The Gangsta, theicwguy, Rated R, and @ballparkb0b into the active roster page sometime this weekend.

Not sure if anybody here is watching the G1 Climax, but if you are watching (and saw Night 3) do as Kevin Kelly (live on air) told you to do and go follow @biggrifftwelve on Twitter. I hear he's a good guy and switched pic bases in the WFWF every other day.

Point of order, folks - these RPs aren't going to respond to themselves. Your mileage may vary, but from this owner's perspective, active is defined a bit further than handing in an RP every couple of weeks and then disappearing into the ether until your name is called again.
It should be a bit embarrassing that as of a few moments ago, @griffin has put himself into a position of having responded to more RPs this year than some active roster members.

Start small. Feel free to sign up for a show as Billy Broom to shake off the rust.

To hell with small - get in there. Let's not pretend we've got this massive numbers game going on.

I've kinda alluded to this here and there, but for real guys - this fed cannot thrive if everyone comes in, dumps their rps, and kicks off until the next show goes up. Once upon a time, that sort of behavior was enough for certain ownerships to stop you dead in your tracks from ever getting a push, no matter how good you are. Obviously, our numbers would make that sort of foolish at this juncture. Back when I was just regular old non-owner DB/SYE, I used to be one of the only responses folks got each show, and it got to the point that if you couldn't afford me the favor, I wasn't gonna do it for you anymore. I feel like you'd all get right f*ckin' pissed if I picked up that habit again, but honestly, communication here overall is at an all time low, and I'm the end of my wits trying to figure out what needs to be done to try and foster a more discussion based environment here. There's a thousand other facets to the whole communication game here, but it feels short sighted to try and rail against the number of behind the scenes PMs I have out going unanswered (if not deliberately ignored) when we can't even get a decent showing of replies to everyone's work. There's no fun in writing for an audience of two. Moreover, nobody gets any better writing for an audience of two - we've all got different aspects of what we read that we like or don't. How the f*ck is anyone going to improve if they're only adapting to the feedback of the same two people time and time again? Spoiler alert: if you face myself or King Richius, your stuff is getting judged by a third party reader under no obligation to judge at the behest of our whims and likes. Wouldn't you wanna know what a more rounded demographic of writers here likes and doesn't? Wouldn't it stand to reason that maybe they'll give you a nod if you could do 'em the same courtesy? I hate having to rail like this, but this place, in recent memory, is at an all time low. Vets can absolutely corroborate the fact that we're presently a shell of our former selves. A roster of twelve CAN be feasible, but not if everyone just writes their piece and then sits on their hands waiting for the W or the L. A lack of readership is the sort of ship Yukio ran. That ain't my game, and it's not the sort of thing I want my name attached to, but to be honest, all this dead space? This ain't all that appealing either.

Funny that you said that because I was about to start reading and replying to some RPs before I head off to Montauk tomorrow. I agree on every single thing you stated here and I'm guilty as charged. I've been here for four years now (Jesus Christ) and admittedly, I only reply to RPs when I feel a sudden spark to comment on some good writing or share my thoughts on a piece that wasn't as good. After taking a creative writing class last semester, large in part to this place, I understand the importance of criticism and how it can feed a writer's ambitions to creating something truly exceptional, whether it's an RP or a novel. Criticism is what inspired me to perfect my short story for the semester and going above and beyond. It's THAT kind of inspiration that reading and subsequent feedback provides. Hell, one of the larger motivators for returning to e-fedding after freshman year was to give as much feedback and criticism as I can after seeing it's impact in-class. From this day forward, I'll do my best to read and reply to everyone's RPs, seasoned veteran or not. Everyone deserves the same feedback no matter what.

So I need to send an apology to everyone, especially The Gangsta. I am still stuck out of town for work. What was supposed to be one night has turned into a week. My half finished Zmey rp sits on my computer at home because I am one of the few who won't buy a laptop. I am sorry about this, I will make this up to everyone.
