Wrestling is my number 1 interest. When I was 11, I got my first Hasbro’s for Christmas: Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, Jim Duggan, Ted DiBiase, Big Boss Man and the blue Galoob Ric Flair. That was the start of growing collection of wrestling figures. I ended up getting a lot of them, but never got Andre or Dusty Rhodes. I stopped collecting when the Hasbro line ended as I got into video games and didn’t really like the new Jakks style of figures, although this was mainly due to them not being in scale with the Hasbros. It wasn’t until I was an adult with my own personal income that I started seriously wanting to collect things. I got a huge amount of custom Habros and started collecting Top Trumps and Manta Force and old video games. Eventually I had to sell the Hasbros, Manta Force and video games, and when I got back in a position to collect, I decided to stick to one thing and obviously chose my number 1 interest and I got the Jakks Ruthless Agression and Classic series a few years back. This calmed down when my kids came along and I sold my figures and switched to collecting Playmobil for them. After I got plenty of that in and my partner got sick of me stockpiling it (I may have a problem!), I turned my attention back to Wrestling a couple of years ago and the wonderful Mattel figures. There is such a huge range with constant releases and having to play catch up as well, I can only afford to collect wrestling figures, but as a kid, especially before I got into wrestling and even whilst I started getting Hasbros, I had all sorts of different toy lines that I had a decent amount of.
These included: Transformers He Man Micro Machines Ghostbusters Gi Joe Action Force Ninja/Hero Turtles Manta Force Matchbox scale cars Model areoplanes Action Man M.A.S.K Thundercats Battle Beasts M.U.S.C.L.E Men Visionaries Lego Playmobil
I’ve probably forgotten some, but, not including video ganes, what did you have as a kid and if you could afford to, what would you like to collect out of them that you don’t or can’t currently? Wrestling is my number 1 thing, but believe me, I would happily collect those other toy lines if I could afford to!
Sorry for the long ramble!
*Edit: add Dino Riders to my list of toys I had a collection of.

Cool thread idea Jim. Oh Lord, what didn't I collect! Share a lot with you.
Starcom, my absolute favourite. Manta Force (what an amazing toy line, and with no movie/cartoon tie in irrc). Hasbro WWF. M.A.S.K Dino Riders. He Man. Thundercats. Bucky O'Hare. Braveheart. Visionaries. Lego. TMNT. Star Wars (was born in 1982, so my Dad hoarded a load of last 17 figures mint on card for me, that went a long way towards buying my house). And plenty more.
I would love to collect M.A.S.K again but cost, space and just the annoyance of once having owned most of it is just really aggravating.

Christ I had forgotten all about Manta Force When I was a kid in the 80s my older brother had a huge collection of Star Wars, Transformers and Action Force and he really got me into collecting toys I collected He-Man, MASK, Subbuteo, Thundercats, Ninja Turtles, Bravestarr, Batman the movie toys, world of Simpsons, and WWF Hasbros mainly I had a few Battle Beasts, Visionaries, Power Rangers, Micro Machines, Centurions and there will be others I cant think of right now Does anyone remember Ring Raiders? Little aeroplanes attached to rings, there was a comic also. The name always makes me chuckle now, not sure a toy line would be released these days under the same name Nowadays I only collect WWE Mattels but I so wish I had kept most of my toys from back then - it was a golden era for toys in the 80s/early 90s I never got into Jakks figures at all. I got into Mattels in about 2011-ish, bought a few for my son to take on holiday to play with and I got into buying them for him TRU did an offer at one point spend £25 on WWE figures and get the Road to Wrestlemania Rock figure. We ended up with 2 so the spare I posed on my DVD shelf and started from there, I have hundreds now. Probably have about 80-90% of all elites including exclusives, just missing some from Elite series 4-10 but pretty much have the rest. Got a load of basics too Ill never collect them all but I like hunting on ebay to fill some gaps now and again. I dont collect as heavily as I did the first few years and I do lose i interest now and again, but there are worse things I could spend my money on

Completely forgot about Ring Raiders, I loved them. As you say that name would not fly now, far too much innuendo!

Doctor Who toys and Jakks WWE figures were really the only toy lines I had a collection of as a kid. I had a few Mattel Elites bought for me in 2010 when they were first starting, but I stopped playing with toys/doing stop motion soon after.
For Doctor Who toys, Character Options figures and RC Daleks produced from 2005 - 2008 were the main part, though I did have a Product Enterprise RC Davros and a talking 80s Cyberman figure, which were produced a few years prior.
As for Jakks WWE figures, it was all the main lines. RA, DA, CS, CSDA.
My older brothers were playing with toys in the early 90s, and so I still have a big bag full of WWF Hasbros of theirs from that time period, which I've always found interesting.

The list of what I didn’t collect would be shorter.

Cool thread idea Jim. Oh Lord, what didn't I collect! Share a lot with you. Thanks! We do share quite a few of these! Also Dino Riders! Forgot about those! I remember watching the video that came with one of the toys and watching it loads. I remember looking in the Argos catalogue and wanting all the Braveheart stuff and Power Ranger stuff, but never got round to them 😆 Also, I know what you mean in regards to M.A.S.K and being too annoyed about previously owning them! Did you have Boulder Hill? I never did 😔 You were really lucky with your dad’s Star Wars collection! Centurians was another one I never had, but I got my fix as a few pals had them and Ring Raiders!? Ha! I was too innocent to notice anything dodgy about that name back then! I did have quite a few though. I had quite a few Subbuteo teams. I used to play matches by myself and kept the scores and league table saved on my dad’s PC. Definitely a golden era though. I’ve always said that toys were better than some of the crap that’s out these days!

The list of what I didn’t collect would be shorter. Did you have anything we haven’t mentioned? I got a little bit of everything and a little bit more of everything else. I mean, I’ve been into toys since 1979. Anything I saw on TV, I just had to have. I can say that I never really completed any set. I’ve completed sub-sets, but never “got them all”.

Could have picked up loads of them.

I don't know if it counts as collecting but I had a 12" Six Million Dollar Man doll (yes, it was a doll and not an action figure in those days). It was pretty cool. Cloth running suit like from the show opening. You could look through the back of his head to see thru his "bionic eye" - actually a very crappy magnifying glass. And he this rubbery skin you could peel back to reveal the bionics in his arm.
I collected the original Star Wars figures but played with them so much they wouldn't be worth much now so I don't mind that I don't know what happened to them.

I had some A-Team toys, I had the van and BA. Remember he had a solid plastic body but a rubber head you could squash
I also recall I had Karate Kid figures - Daniel and Mr Miyagi with chopping action plus one of those wooden training trees that broke in half

This is funny, because I never actually properly started "collecting" anything till my later years.
As a child I just got random toys lol.. When I started watching wrestling in 2006, I was 14, and remember getting Jakks Angle and Benoit in my local Argos. My Jakks collection continued from there.
As an adult now though, I have a few collections, still have nearly 400 Jakks, which I don't buy anymore, and just over 200 Mattel, which isn't bad going for only starting in 2014.
I've also completed the Batman Animated Figure series that DC Collectables started releasing a few years back, and currently collecting Funko Pops, and The Walking Dead McFarlane Figures, although I've kinda stopped buying those.
So I guess at the minute, my two active collections are Funko Pops, and Mattel.
