Of course they are losing money now just like every other toy company TRU was probably the biggest customer for all of them.

I don't believe for a second they didn't know what was going on. It's there own fault for not doing something about it sooner.

Not to be a dick but I kinda wish they would fail and we could have some other company make wwe figures. Mattel has dropped the ball too many times and keep making too many cash grab decisions that are bullcrap.

Of course they knew...TRU had missed making a few payments to all their vendors. Besides laying off their own workforce what were they going to do? It’s not like there’s another store out there to take TRU’s place for the lost revenue.

Every toymaker has taken a hit due to TRU going out of business. Companies like Hasbro, Mattel, Lego, Funko, etc can recover but its the smaller toymakers that depend on shelf space from Toys R Us to get their products out there that will suffer greatly.

Yeah I think they will be fine. I'm sure they have other plans... especially for their TRU exclusives. I know previously mentioned TRU exclusives from Hasbro already have new stores for their figures.

failing? no. some of their lines may not do so well now. But the idea that TRU was the be all and end all is ridiculous. people will just buy elsewhere now.

They gonna be OK its easy to see TRU closing is gonna hurt for a little but Mattel is big enough to rebound.

I believe Mattel WWE was in the top 2 action figure sales for last year. So I’m sure they will be fine... TRU didn’t go out of business because of poor sales, it was dead in the water 2005 when the parent company brought it and place a whole bunch of bad debt on the company. Someone way smarter then I can explain this - but from what read, it’s business model and turnover was fine and only a few months ago, it was planned to update some stores etc.

Losing money? No chance. Making less profit? Obviously. They are one of the largest toy distributors in the world

Losing money? No chance. Making less profit? Obviously. They are one of the largest toy distributors in the world They did make a quarter billion dollar loss a few months ago ... but they said that was due to US tax laws changing and hitting them with a big bill. Their stocks have also been falling in recent months due to poor sales and Toys R Us etc ... but, they're Mattel, they will never go out of business.

Mattel will survives.... But maybe its the reason, why the quality drops, no big announcement, releasing postponed etc.. Sad but mattel follows the same path as Jakks for the wwe line.

Sales and stock prices are down short term. But Mattel is a huge company and it would be quite a while before they were in any real trouble.
The WWE line is just a small part of their business. It doesn't even get reported on individually as they do with Hot Wheels or Barbie. It's just bumped into a general category of "boys toys."

Some of you act like mattel are a small family owned toy company or something. Every toy manufacturer will be taking a hit from TRU closing.
Also, wwe need mattel..not the other way around
