Every old WWE Jakks figure looked different...yet the same. I can't explain it lol. Because 85% of them used the same arms, torso and legs lol

Mattel is failing miserably because of those pesky Jakks UFC figures that outsell WWE Mattel 3 to 1, and have pushed Mattel WWE out of several retailers due to lack of interest; and UFC Mark Coleman was voted the single most successful action figure in toy history from a sales standpoint. I lol'd. But for real, in late 2009 I was ALL OVER those Jakks UFC figures. They started off with a bang. I still have mine. Wish I didn't drop that coin on that real scale octagon though.

I mean all the Mattel stores except the one in El Sugundo is closing down. So.... This has nothing to do with failing. Mattel will always be alive because of Barbie and hot wheels Because you can’t find a figure you want or a series is being pushed back (for reasons we don’t know) does not mean the company is flopping. The wwe line is not the end all be all of mattel If Hot Wheels gets discontinued I'll riot

With the death of toy retail, I don't know why Mattel doesn't just go direct to customer? Everyone would whine about the price and character choices, and it would be a disaster. Same as last time they tried it. Lol no it isn’t. It’s a mainstream children’s toy line, with occasional subsets for adult collectors. Mattel aren’t gonna be propped up by selling a few The Mountie figures online instead of the hundreds of thousands of Cena/Reigns/Styles they sell in stores.

That sucks. So much for Amazon, Walmart and Target stepping up. They all said they would expand their toy selections/buy more stock... I have yet to see this become reality. And the fact that they are cutting 2200 jobs... makes it seem that the $11 billion market Toysrus left behind is still not beng filled. I wonder if Mattel is cutting toy production? Could lead to a shortage.... I hope Mattel can get a little bit of help with the return of KB Toys.

Target picked up the 2 exclusives that were meant for TRU. It will take time

Im willing to bet if you could go back in time and not make Zombies, Monsters, Rumblers and those voice slammer things that you could employ about 3000 people. What a waste of plastic & money that was.

Did we ever hear where that Carmella elite was going? Believe Mattel knows where that set is going, but they haven't yet disclosed it publicly.

Wow, nearly 1/4th of their non manufacturing staff. Guess we can safely guess more changes are in store for the line.

Someone will come along that is an online version of Toys R Us or even a toy supplier who thinks they can make money at retail and fills the retail spaces that Toys R Us held and things will cycle again.
The outpour of parents my age (35) who wanted to take their kids for Toys was too great for someone not to capitalize on this. If Mattel can wait the storm out, they'll be fine. Toys R Us may be gone but some entreprenuer is out there right now thinking of a way to take advantage of this space in the market. And believe me, it exists. No matter how much people want to believe kids only play with digital "toys" on ipads. That isnt true.

About the current roster, i give a 9 on 10 to mattel, they do really great current superstars figs, im just hoping that grant metallik and lince dorado are in the planning, because kids are most interesting to buy masked figure than a drew gulak figure.
For the legend figs, i give mattel a 4 on 10, not near jakks, they released not a lot of obscures gimmiks that jakks never did. At least a really big hooray to mattel to finally release a pat patterson figure, thats is a big surprise, but im afraid that the pat fig will follows the path of the gooker figure (never accepted the reasons they gave us, when they said that they cant use parts of the gooker for another fig, so it was too expensive, but they created stupids body parts for the monster line...)

I’m all for competition, but it seems everyxompany is now in the buisness of consuming competition just to be top dog.

Even IF those lost sales were recouped, you're talking about trying to get back to where you were with three quarter of the employees. These are major cuts that are going to impact design, marketing, sales, on down. I'm not sure what we can expect or when the impact will really be felt on store shelves since the product is designed so far in advance, but I don't see any way this doesn't hit every single Mattel line regardless of their success.

From a CNN Money money.cnn.com/2018/07/25/news/companies/mattel-layoffs/index.html"The vast majority of the layoffs are back-office and support roles, the company said. On a conference call with analysts, Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz said the company performed a comprehensive "bottom-up review" to preserve the company's sales-generating and creative capabilities. He said he hopes the company can realign resources toward high-performing toys, improving online sales and developing better toy franchises for the future." I would think/hope the WWE line is considered a "high-performing" toy? I'm all for improving online sales as retail can be frustrating at times.
