As a big CM Punk fan, I'm obviously disappointed. Still way better than his first fight and the man obviously has heart. Based on what he shares about his personality in the public eye, he's going to be fine. He can handle disappointment. Whether this is the last time he does this or he pursues it elsewhere, nothing but respect.

Dana White may have fired Jackson last night and hinted that Punk should walk away on his own admissions. That was just awful.

As much as i support Punk, i agree that MMA may not be his thing, especially at his age and current physical state. But i was damn well impressed and proud that he not only improved from his debut, but also went the distance for all 3 rounds and never gave up ONCE. Yeah Punk may have gotten his ass whipped again but the fact that he got in some decent hits and a nice takedown were enough to make me happy with his performance. Punk never gave up once and even though he was getting dominated for the majority of it, he kept fighting back and looking for offence while that jackass Jackson just sat there treating the fight like a joke.
Jackson may be 1000 times better and more experienced than Punk, but Punk proved in this fight that he had a lot more heart, determination and passion for MMA than jackson probably ever will. Though he got his ass kicked, Punk tried to put on a good fight for the fans until the end, all while Jackson mocked, laughed and played around with him, if he had any respect for the sport, he would've taken the opportunities to strike and end the fight, whether on the mat or standing.
Give me hate and call me a Punk mark, i don't care. The fact is that physically, Punk may be out of his league in MMA, but mentally, he has a lot more passion and will to succeed and improve in MMA than Jackson seemed to ever have. Post fight interview, Dana basically shat on Jackson and fired him, where as admired Punks heart and recommended that MMA will never be his thing. That alone is basically a win for Punk.
He tried his damn best and as a Punk fan, the outcome was disappointing but i was more than impressed with his showing from start to finish, well done.

Said it in another thread and I'll repeat it here. Props to Punk for trying his hand at MMA at an age where most MMA fighters are considering if not already retired. He's done about as well as I expected. Dana and Punk made their money. Time to move on. Any further Punk fights would just be blatant cash grabs and the backlash could hurt the UFC overall.

Is Punk a tough guy? Yes Does he have a lot of heart? Yes Is he honest about what he wants? Yes Do I ever want to see him fight again? No

Hope we never have to see CM Punk cosplay UFC fight anymore. He never belonged in a cage even against the lowest level of fighters the UFC could find. He’s a danger to himself if he wants to keep fighting.
I know pro wrestling is pre-determined but my god, the illusion of him being a good wrestler or badass is gone. He’s not athletic and even with the highest level training with world class coaches and champions in his camp, he still never learned to throw a proper strike. I remember when “Muay Thai striker” was his gimmick, but in a real fight context, he threw strikes like he had no control over his body.
In restrospect, he was a great talker and had good in-ring psychology. Certainly not “the best in the world.” He never innovated in the ring, and never performed anything crisp (like Neville or AJ Styles). All his signature moves were taken from others. The Pepsi plunge was just a pedigree off the top rope, the GTS was from KENTA, and he copied Wanderlei Silva’s knuckle roll before matches.
Hopefully Punk can come out the other side and respect the business that made him a millionaire and pay it forward to the next generation.

Hard to say Punk has more determination and passion for MMA when he’s that inexperienced. Jackson has clearly spent much more time in the gym perfecting his strikes and cardio. Punk looked like an average joe with 6 months of training at a low level gym. The only thing Punk did was survive a hard spar with an opponent that could of put him away more brutally if he felt like it.

Yikes that fight was bad. I'm a Punk fan and always will be but he looked like $#!t, his jiu-jitsu was horrendous. Mike Jackson didn't set the world on fire either , he missed so many opportunities.

You tried to crapon aj yesterday and now punk today...what did they do you? Deny you an autograph at an airport or while eating? Or were you the one ryback fan mad that punk didn't put him over? Maybe time to let it go.

And btw Punk is a scrub when it comes to MMA, he's got a 50/50 chance against any average Joe on the street, on this forum or at any local boxing/mma gym. Only reason he was even in the UFC (if you can even call getting your face beat 2 times being in the UFC) is because of the name he made in WWE. He would do just as bad in PRIDE or any other lower tier MMA promotion. Some people just aren't meant to fight and he's one of them.

Not even debatable. I quoted this one because it was the same person and it doesn't ing matter. Shitting on cm punk the wrestler isn't gonna win you any cred. Hell...let's be real...shitting on cm punk the UFC fighter isn't gonna get you any cred unless you honestly believe you would do any better. And his comments on aj lee were...misinformed and dangerous in general.

Im not gonna say anything about the man Punk because I don't know anything about that part of him. As far as MMA goes my previous comment stands. It's not for him. He might be a great dude, I don't know. I do know that he's a phenomenal entertainer in wrestling and a terrible fighter as far as UFC goes. Does he have guts? Sure. I'd step in the cage as well but anyone can SAY that so take that with a grain of salt. He did what he wanted to do but I believe he was used by Dana White for his name and value. He was put up against the cream of the crop of the fighting world in UFC and I don't think he was ready by any means. I think he would have done better in a lower tier fighting promotion instead of going straight to UFC. Either way he still wins at the end of the day. He goes home to Aj Lee and is still stacked on cash. People can hate but he's still doing very very well for himself. I'm not a Punk hater by any means I just really don't believe the UFC or MMA of that caliber is good for his future.

And his comments on aj lee were...misinformed and dangerous in general. I was a fan of CM Punk back in his indy days before he ever signed with WWE. But at this point, he’s got such soar grapes about pro wrestling, and for the last four years he’s been delusional and trying to act like he’s moved on to real fighting. It’s laughable. He likely pressured his wife to quit her dream job too, because he was such a negative douche about the business that made him a mega star and a millionaire. He played dress up and fake fought for so long that he convinced himself that he could do the real thing - kinda like little boys playing with Tonka trucks then thinking they can drive a real dump truck. And still I never understood why people remember AJ Lee so fondly, like she’s some kind of pioneer or legend of wrestling. How long was she around, maybe two years? She was an average on-screen talent who never had a decent match. She got where she was because she dated popular wrestlers. About all I can remember about her is that she acted like Daffney, she wasn’t a believable GM, and she made out with Kane and a bunch of other wrestlers.
