Dare I say, the Celtics actually had good luck in the draft? Red Auerbach laughing at the NBA now?

Damn that is so horrible about Oden. First year and something like this already happens to him. Tha's really unfortunate.

Worse news for the NBA than it is for Oden.
Imagine the comparisons all season, the advertising and commercials that could've been this year. Not to mention, all the would-be televised Sonics/Blazers games for the upcoming season.
It sucks, but now is Durant's chance to show he is the Rookie of the Year, hands down, and that Portland made possibly another terrible decision passing up on him.

I don't think it'll hurt the NBA really as a whole. Oden would have been a major thing to follow, but it's not as big as when LeBron was a rookie. The NBA still has LeBron, Kobe, Wade, etc, and also the Celtics trio now as well.
This hurts the Blazers heavily though because now fans who bought season tickets will be really disappointed. And they will be lucky to be as good as last year. Guys like Roy and Aldridge will improve, but they lost Randolph.
The team that this really benefits is the Sonics. Now they will be a team to follow because Durant is a bigger deal now. It's like as if LeBron was out for the year and Carmelo was the one who got a chance to shine on his own.

Yeah, I don't see Kirilenko leaving just yet.
Even if he is "ready to leave", I can't see Utah/Sloan not trying to convince him to give it another go. He's probably too much of a puss for Sloan's style of coaching, but honestly,
how can you be unhappy if you're playing in a friendly town and you're getting paid more than $13 million this year to just play basketball? Not to mention, you were just a legitimate playoff contender this past season.

Utah's Dee Brown says he's going to play in Turkey next season.
The Jazz already have two backups (Price & Hart), so Brown likely wouldn't have made the team to begin with. I liked watching him in the playoffs last year with Utah, but wouldn't any other teams have interest in a good backup point guard?
Probably still needs the experience, but I would think playing overseas would be a last resort for some.

Yah I dont want Marion, I dunno about you but I am kinda happy with who we got, I dont want an idiot like Marion who thinks he should be the #1 option on a World Championship caliber team.
Hes fantastic, and would be a GREAT #2 on a team, but he is an idiot and has constantly said he wants to leave Phoenix, he can go to a scrub team and be the #1 and never see the playoffs again

Lamar Odom is still pretty good, just injury prone and he had an AWFUL emotional season last year with the deaf of his infant. He will be much better this year, if its Odom and a pick or someone else, it might not be worth it

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Clothing maker Izod was awarded naming rights to Continental Airlines Arena by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority on Thursday.
The building will be called the Izod Center.
Izod is a division of clothing and apparel maker Phillips-Van Heusen, and is a sponsor of the New Jersey Nets, who play in the arena.
Two other clothing companies -- Rocawear and Southpole -- bid to have their name on the arena.
Continental opted to take its name off the 26-year-old building since the New Jersey Devils are leaving for their new home in Newark. credit: ESPN lol "...vs. the New Jersey Nets, at the Rocawear Arena..." Would've had a nice ring to it...

He will be much better this year, if its Odom and a pick or someone else, it might not be worth it Looks like he's going to miss most of the regular season after having his shoulder repaired surgically for the SECOND time. And, with talks of Odom considering retirement, I'd say L.A. will be lucky if they're even able to reach 8th place in the West this season.

ESPN's John Hollinger predicts the 2007-08 season: sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=HollingerForecastIndex0708This guy had to have been on some serious drugs when he predicted these standings. Atlanta and Charlotte making the playoffs? Washington finishing 13th in the East?!? Houston as the best team in the West?!?!?!? You've got to be kidding me.
