Oh snap, Cuban wants to buy the Cubs.
I maintain, that in two to three years, Arthur Blank will own the Braves.

Still bitter Oswalt got in the ASG over Maine? Get over it. I wasn't bitter in the first place. The All Star game is meaningless. I'm just stating facts. Simple.

After watching the yankees last night I think the yankees can and will catch the red sox. They got their fire back for the second half. I saw good things.

Now Thug I have a question for you, do you think ARod will opt out and stay or just not opt out at all? Opting out and staying with the Yankees would be pointless. Alex Rodriguez and Scott Boras obviously know how many years and dollar amount it would take to sign him if he was a free agent. If he was going to stay with the Yankees he should just make up the difference and sign with the Yankees now. So if he was a free agent and wanted 7 years at 125 million, he should sign a 4 year 53 million and just call it a wash.....because thats actually easier for the Yankees because the Rangers are still on the hook for some of the 3 years 72 million that is left of the original contract. Because if he opted out to just stay with the Yankees he'd end up with the same amount of money and years still on the Yankees but all he would have accomplished was angering a lot of fans by playing this game all year. If he's opting out, he's leaving, bottom line. And if he's not signing a contract extension now,.....he's leaving. That's just my opinion. But like I said yesterday, if it was just about the money he'd take his pay day now because regardless of his numbers for the rest of the year I still don't think anybody will OFFER him as much as the Yankees.....But I think that at this point with all that the ignorant fans and shark media has put him through, I think he would take less to go to another team.

Now Thug I have a question for you, do you think ARod will opt out and stay or just not opt out at all? He won't opt out at all. My prediction is that the Yankees won't make the playoffs, so that'll give both sides over 30 days to work out a deal. I think they'll wind up agreeing to an extension and the Yankees will wind up giving A-Rod whatever he wants to stay. Steinbrenner is going to be more involved with the team this offseason, in my honest opinion. I think the liberty he gave Cashman last offseason will not be the same and he won't let Cashman play hardball with A-Rod, Posada, or Mo. Honestly, I think their top priority will be to re-sign A-Rod. I'd really be shocked if he winds up leaving, but I think that if he does it won't be because the Yankees didn't want to keep him - it'll be because no amount of money in the world would have been able to keep him here.

Yah I was going to agree with you that he wouldnt leave NY, but I am 100% disagreeing with you that he wont opt out, I think that is all but decided upon right now. If he was not gonna opt out he would have negotiated with the Yankees for an extension. Him not opting out would be a bad bad bad business decision on his part

IMO, A-ROD will stay with the Yankees. He will not opt out and he will be the 1st 30 million dollar man in MLB History.
On a side note, on ESPN First Take Skip Bayless gave the stat that since Game 4 of the ALCS against Boston AROD is 5 for 47 with 1 HR and 2 RBI's in post season OUCH!

If he was not gonna opt out he would have negotiated with the Yankees for an extension. Him not opting out would be a bad bad bad business decision on his part Well, it's like Lorenzo said...if he's going to remain a Yankee, he's not going to opt out. I think they'll agree to a new extension under the agreement that while they're negotiating, he won't opt out. If the Yankees give him his asking price and he really is all about the money, why would he opt out? To me, if the Yankees give him and Boras what they're asking for and he decides to opt out anyway, it means he has no interest in playing for the Yankees and was only using their negotiating as a way to jack up his price. The general feeling is that Cashman would not negotiate with A-Rod if he does opt out. But will Cashman have the same amount of power to effectively carry through on that considering the horrible team he put together? Steinbrenner may take charge and tell Cashman to do everything in his power to keep A-Rod in New York, even if he does opt out. Cashman may not want to negotiate with A-Rod if he opts out, but I'm almost 100% positive that Steinbrenner would. And Steinbrenner's decision will always count first in the Yankees organization as long as he's alive.

Steinbrenner has Alzheimer's, he has no idea where he is. That is why he makes no public appearances anymore and all of his "statements" come from his media relations team.....trust me, he's lost in space. Don't hold your breath, even if the Yankees do sign A-Rod, Posada and Mariano to contract extensions....that doesn't do anything for this teams starting pitching. Starting pitching is what has put them so deep in the hole for 2007 that it looks impossible to get out. Next year isn't looking any better for the Yankees, its looking worse. Chien-Ming Wang is your only good pitcher. Pettitte has been awful his last 3 starts, if he even comes back next year, who knows what kind of stuff he'll have. Mussina has been just short of useless this year, next year can only be worse. Kie Igawa is an absolute disaster. Will Roger Clemens come back? Retire? Who knows and honestly he isn't enough to make a difference. That leaves Phil Hughes...and Wang and Hughes aren't enough to drag this team to the playoffs. Don't even get me started on the bullpen.....even if we bring Mo back, he's nowhere NEAR as lights out as Papelbon, K-Rod, hell even J.J Putz has been better this year. The Yankees bullpen has been absolutely terrible, as has pretty much every aspect of this team except for Jeter (sans defense), Posada, A-Rod and Pettitte until 3 starts ago. Every year that passes that the Yankees don't win, everybody gets another year older and lessens our chances of getting it done with the core guys that we have now. Yanks have some decent pitching in the minors, but except for Hughes nobody is ready or can pitch at the level that this team needs to make the playoffs, and as far as bullpen and closers go.....Yanks have nothing. Hopefully Edwar Ramirez becomes the next Rivera.
