Novel idea... maybe if the majority of AEW's roster knew how to "work" and "tell a story," JR & Excalibur & Tony could explain more. Unfortunately for the commentary, and for us.. 90% of the roster thinks that "that cool move" is what wrestling is all about. strange, I couldn’t disagree more. I feel that AEW is telling a story far better in ring than anything the wwe is pulling off these days. Oh trust me, I'm not saying WWE is telling stories in the ring.

explain what is going on behind the scenes with them more, instead of just going "oh that move was cool!" or "oh nice dropkick!" "No that is called a rock bottom...", etc. Novel idea... maybe if the majority of AEW's roster knew how to "work" and "tell a story," JR & Excalibur & Tony could explain more. Unfortunately for the commentary, and for us.. 90% of the roster thinks that "that cool move" is what wrestling is all about. I don't think this is true at all. Some matches are definitely just about spots and fighting, but why is that a bad thing? If we're presenting this as a sport, then a lot of the time the story really is just two athletes trying to one up each other and win. What's wrong with that? Sometimes stories get involved, team rivalries exist, but sometimes it's an inter conference game where there isn't a larger story to tell and it's just athletes showing each other what they've got trying to get the W. I don't see any issue with that really. I would also suggest that a large portion of the roster is great at storytelling. Sure some of the greener groups like Private Party are still learning that, but AEW was very open about wanting to sign a lot of promising developmental talent. Learning that part of it is going to be intuitive for some, and others are going to have to work a little harder at it. Full Gear: Buy In: Bea vs. Baker -- They've been telling this angle for months about why these two hate each other. Unfortunately they still don't mesh well in the ring together, but that has nothing to do with the story Bucks/LAX: I think if anyone says the Young bucks don't know how to tell a story in the ring, they need to watch their matches more carefully. They do tons of awesome spots, but they are great at psychology. This match also had a phenomenal angle with Rick Knox that they've been building up for a couple of months now. I don't think we can accuse a roster of not understanding storytelling if they can build up a two month angle with a freaking referee. The R&R too.. My god, 63 year old destroyer. Are you freaking kidding me. Hangman/PAC: This was one of the original rivalries, and they took the time in this match to show Hangman adapting to the Brutalizer and learning how to find a way out. This definitely felt more like a heated rivalry just trying to beat the piss out of each other with out much deeper than that, but again, why is that necessarily a bad thing. Match was awesome. 3 way tag: Yeah, definitely a big spot fest, but that's Lucha Libre style wrestling. With a team called the Lucha Bros in the match, that's going to happen. Style might not be for everybody, but personally I really enjoy Lucha wrestling. It feels like watching a sports ballet, which in my book is pretty darn cool. Maybe it doesn't always tell a deeper story, but it does showcase a sporting contest in a very artistic style, which is pretty cool to me. Janela/Spears: Tully is a freaking master, so that should pretty much cover this match. Riho/Emi: Student vs. Master, classic story. Cody/Jericho: I don't think I need to explain this one, the storytelling in here was phenomenal, but I would assume this was part of your 10% as well. God what a great match though! Wish MJF would have let Cody suffer a bit more before throwing in the towel, but I'm willing to wager they can use that as part of the story. (MJF threw it in very fast worried Cody was a baby and would have tapped out before MJF could screw him over) Omega/Moxley: for a death match, there was a lot going on here. Between Omega/Elite interactions, bat/broom continuation, "chain" wrestling (I loved that!) surprising amount of extra nuggets hidden in the match. Well, not surprising, it's Omega and Moxley. I dunno... I think this company is doing a great job at storytelling. I was telling a friend before we were watching that my prediction for Cody/Jericho hinged on my prediction for Hangman/PAC, because I thought the outcome of both matches played into each other, and I could see year long stories coming out of either outcome. When both winners can create a story that can go for a year, that's pretty intense.

It's not for everyone and the golden age of deathmatches are long over. Now a days, they have gotten to become so lazy and uncreative. Also it seems the same 8 guys are doing them so it gets redundant. They aren't what they used to be. omg so I watched this documentary from Vice on CZW TOD 15... First, the guy that looks like King Kong Bundy had an f'n puck of spikes stuck in his skull!!! And it's amazing how chill they are behind the curtain. But this is bat crazy crap. Definitely a niche market. That is highly commendable that you looked into it further. Much respect. Definitely not for most, but oh so fun. And it even gets nuttier than that....Jun Kasai has a story to tell.

Most of the great deathmatchers are not around anymore.
Either dead or retired in all honesty.
Great to see AEW throwing the nod to Moxley’s past though!

No one else watching Dynamite tonight? It is awesome. Yall are in for a treat Totally forgot, and just tuned in for the 3-way match. But that has more to do with working 10+ hour days lately than decreased interest in the show.

Dynamite Dozen Battle Ring? Having a Battle Royale end with two individuals is never really a good booking call, just not natural.
Also, Brandi and Kong, da Wig Snatchers lol

I kind of like Hangman, but there's something that just doesn't feel right to me about a cowboy who does backflips and suicide dives.

I don't mind repeating matches, especially since PPVs aren't monthly. But it feels kind of thrown together for the sake of a good match. Like "hey, that was a good match - let's do it again!" with the repeats they've done with Pac/Page and Kenny/Janella.

By the way, this is the second week in a row my HD signal is glitching out.
Vince: "Spectrum, I would like for you to do us a favor though..."
