The Hollywood Blondes was a great part of Steve Austin's career. It all went downhill after the team was broken up. Who knew when Steve got squashed by Macho Man and Jim Duggan in 1995 he would be wrestling's biggest star two years later. The Blondes had a great theme song and Hollywood and Vine was a great name for a move.

I’m sure I read somewhere that they were thrown together as a team as the bookers didn’t know what to do with them. WCW programming wasn’t available where I lived but was on in a different region where my granny lived. I was up on holiday with her when I first clapped eyes on the team. They looked to genuinely enjoy themselves when they were performing. There was an arrogance about them that made them an entertaining team. To me they typify WCW and it’s booking philosophy. They had the talent to play with but really didn’t know what to do with it. I still cringe when hearing that Austin was pinned in 35 seconds by Jim Duggan. The way they treated Austin in the end still sticks me off to this day. So ridiculous for a guy with that much talent to job in seconds.

So pleased Austin made it big in the end though. And although the Pillman story ended badly, he was a hell of a talent and had a great mind for the business. I would give anything to have him on a booking committee somewhere. I hope you cover the loose cannon character in his last days in WCW somewhere down the line (hint hint)

Every milestone though he will be eligible again so stay tuned!

I give D-Von a lot of credit. That seemed like a pretty silly gimmick, especially for the times (more suited to late 80s/early 90s like Brother Love) but he did his best to make it work for the times.
