I never got the manlove many people have for the Smoking Gunns here. They were just the top of a mediocre crop of tag teams during that time. WCW had the best tag team action during their time on top with the Hollywood Blonds, Stars and Stripes, Pretty Wonderful, Harlem Heat, etc. How many Iron Mikes are there in wrestling? No doubt about it. They really left WWF in the dust in that department during this era

A lot of wrestlers used to tell stories about how anal retentive Sharpe was. They said he would shower when he got to the building & then after each of his matches. One story has it that Sharpe took so long in the shower, that he was actually accidentally locked in the building by the janitor staff. I also heard everything in his gym bag was separated into individual ziplock bags. I think Mike Bucci (Simon Dean/Nova) was trained by him & verified these rumors. Early in his WWF run, his nickname was "Wimp". He used to get very upset when the crowd would chant it, making him bark the "NO! NO! NO!" that he was known for. Great write up. I vote for the Dungeon of Doom next.

Iron Mike Sharpe is undoubtedly my favourite jobber.
My next vote is for George 'The Animal' Steele.

It was really sad seeing Iron Mike's last video. He should have been a guy enjoying the autograph convention scene if he were healthy. I'm glad he got the Big Event match but wish he had gotten a PPV. He would have been a good one to fit into a Royal Rumble or even Survivor Series if someone couldn't make it. Or even a singles PPV match to get over a new star. I'm also surprised he never got a Jakks Classic figure. They probably did more obscure guys them him. Even LJN did some obscure guys. For him being a Jersey guy I'm surprised I didn't see him on the autograph scene. He may have retired to Canada before the conventions became so big around 2005 and beyond.

One of the more well known jobbers for sure. When I first started watching wrestling took me a few months to work out he was enhancement, due to his interactions with the crowd. A loss to virgil confirmed he was a jobber.
Dungeon of Doom for me please.

Dungeon of DoomIt was during the Spring of 95 where viewers would hear a voice calling out to Kevin Sullivan. We would see a vignette with Sully running thru a jungle which would lead him to the Dungeon. There we would see the man behind that voice ''The Master'' aka King Curtis Iaukea. It was from here Sully would be known as The Taskmaster. The whole purpose of this was to end Hulkamania once and for all.Over the following weeks/months new members would rear their head in the faction like Shark,Kamala,Zodiac(Yes...No) and Meng. But the crown jewel of the group was The Giant.Liked the way they brought em in by showing em in crowds as an unknown stalking Hogan. After being attacked in the Dungeon that Summer,Hogan would form a team consisting of him,Sting,Savage and originally Vader to face the heels in War Games at Fall Brawl but with Vader leaving(cant blame em) they had to find a replacement. That replacement would be returning former WCW champ Lex Luger. With that the war in the cage was on.In the end the babyfaces would prevail but post match we would see the Giant arrive and twist Hogan's neck like a bottle cap.And with that our next feud for Big Gold was set... Before the big showdown at Havoc 95, These two would meet on the top of Cobo Hall in Detroit in a monster truck match. All I can say is those poor fans being forced to watch this in the arena. After a winning by Hogan, we would see a live murder on PPV as after a brief brawl between the two, The Giant would ''fall'' off the roof.Still a ridiculous sight nearly 30 years later. Later that night he would return like nothing happened and in the end win the belt thanks from help from Jimmy Hart after a DQ. We would also see Luger turn here and who could forget The YETTTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!It was revealed the next night Hart put a clause in the contract where the belt could change hands by DQ. This wouldnt last long however as the powers that be would strip the Giant of the belt and put it up for the big WW3 match the following month. It was also during this time Hogan would enter the ''darkside'' with him going to all black.A prelude to what was to come...At WW III Mach would win the vacated World title. More members would join the evil heels as we rolled into 96 like Barbarian,Hugh Morrus,Big Bubba and One Man Gang(who would have a brief US title run during this time)and the Lockness aka Giant Haystacks for UK fans out there. It was also during this they would form an alliance with The Horsemen in a desperate attempt to end Hogan.Following Hogan once again pulling through at Superbrawl by defeating Giant in the cage, the final showdown was on the horizon. That showdown was could come at Uncensored that March in the infamous Tower of Doom match. Before I get into this mess, It was also during this time it was revealed Zodiac was a ''mole'' this whole time and was in the back pocket of Hogan which would lead to him becoming the Booty man. Still doesnt make sense at all but I digress. The match itself consisted of Sully,Naitch,Arn,Barb,Meng,Luger,Z-gangsta aka Zeus and The Ultimate Solution against just Hogan and Mach in a three tier cage. Just a total mess of a match here with the rules really never being clear. In the end the faces would win...somehow surviving all that. How the fans were able to see what was going on especially at the top of this thing is still beyond me.This would start the end of the faction. Giant would head into the Big Gold scene with the faction just being there for the most part for the remainder of the year. The NWO stuff taking off really dug the grave here for this faction. The spooky stuff was all but gone for the most part. The Giant would eventually leave and join the NWO after losing the belt to Hogan at Hog Wild and with that we enter the final stage.Few more new faces during this time like Konan and Brawn the Leprechaun and Sully having a new man squeeze in Jacqueline but it was clear the group was nearing the end. The last big feud would be Sully and Benoit over Woman who was the former wife of Sully. They would have some wars in 97 thats for sure. The Clash match with them fighting in a bathroom was a real treat. The offical end would come at BATB that year with Benoit defeating Sully in a retirement match after Jackie would turn on em. Overall...No Army of Darkness thats for damn sure. Hokey as all hell but still in some weird way entertaining.Hey any faction wanting to end Hulkamania I'm all for What are your memories of DOD?Share em below!

I’m not familiar with the Dungeon of Doom at all except the match at Uncensored ‘96, but like The Brain any person or faction with the goal of ending Hulkamania gets the thumbs up from me!

Not the best faction, kind of cheesy. And a shame too, as WCW was building a really good roster from 1992-1994, this group felt like they were going backwards.

Starrcade 94 with the main event being Hogan and Beefcake was the real start where you knew the old WCW was dead. The pukester was sadly taking over

Just think, when you go to a barber, and they do a really bad job on your hair people say you "Got Butchered". That was the perfect name for him as a heel, and it played nicely with his past gimmick of the Barber. And yeah, 1994 by that point and most of 1995, was pretty bad. I felt that WCW was starting to pick things up at the end of 1995 with the re-emergence of Lex Luger playing the tweener heel, Sting altering his look, Savage going a little nuts, the horsemen getting more time. I liked the Sting/Luger/Flair/Macho world title scene.

I was really looking forward to a Hogan/Loch Ness feud. It's a shame he was diagnosed with cancer shortly afterwards. I hold Kevin Sullivan in high regard, but the Dungeon of Doom was no Army of Darkness. The best to come out of it was the Sullivan/Benoit anything goes feud. Those two had some great matches.
My next vote is for Mantaur.

It was a great way to keep feeding the hogan machine. I enjoyed it for the time and I remember wishing Hulk would turn heel. It had really never occurred to me that Hogan could be a heel and when he wore black I was shocked
