I just wanted to say I am saddened by the death of Mean Gene Okerlund who passed away today. You will be missed brother.
What are some of your favorite memories? Mine is with Mean Gene getting ready for the ring having to drink Hulk's egg shake and working out with the Hulkster.

Man this is a tough one. So many great memories. Loved pretty much any interview he ever conducted as he was one awesome personality.
Who could forget this gem?
Terrible terrible loss for us old school fans. This one stings a lot

Such sad news. One of my favourite memories is him hosting Oktoberfest with the wrestlers on a coliseum release. Just good harmless fun. Such a great interviewer as well RIP.

In terms of stupid memories, I'll always remember how in the beginning when I watched wrestling, I thought Raw and WCW Saturday night were the same company (didn't realize there were multiple companies then),.So when I, as 6 or 7 year old, first saw Mean Gene and Howard Finkel, I thought they were one in the same.

Very sad about the passing of Mean Gene. I was there in the great days of the mid 80's and I loved watching the event center where Gene would do spot specific interviews. Quick wit and awesome voice and just an all around joy to be around. I know many workers who spent time with Gene and nobody ever had a bad word to say EVER.
Thank you Gene for all you have done. And HOLY BALLS we're going to miss you so much.

Back when a wrestling company would actually run down and promote an entire ppv card for weeks leading up to it, Gene could make the hype seem VERY real for even the most mundane of undercard matches. From his promotion in the 'Special Report' segments to his duties in the Event Center, Okerlund knew how to get you excited for anything the company was trying to promote.

Virgil actually said something similar in his tweet, saying Gene could make every moment feel like the Super Bowl.

It reminds me also of how he made Earthquake squashing Hulk seem so real!

Don't know what exactly was the point, but Mean Gene not giving a crap during this, was hilarious.
