Not a fan of that trailer at all. Miss that 80s feeling. because its set 30 years after the 80s... What I mean is theres a time in history that cant be recreated and thats detrimental I feel in making the movie come across as a ghostbusters movie that we all grew up watching. I miss the 80s vibes, the New York City of the 80s etc. Its something that goes a long a way to making these movies with a mythology successful, when they have sequels made years later. The time period is gone, the modern dynamics of cinematography all can make it feel out of touch with the original movies and then it creates the disconnect that alot of fans feel.

If you've watched the trailer, caught all the elements of pre-established GB lore peppered in, and still managed to walk away thinking that it doesn't feel like GB, does bustin' even make you feel good? GB has a depth of lore that transcends the need for establishing comforts like the 80s or New York City. This trailer made it as on the nose as humanly possible that story elements established back in 1984 that weren't at all reliant on time or place are going to be central to the plot here. Hell, the trailer basically hands the reason why... ...Egon owned a farmhouse out in the middle of God's country... ...to keen eyed viewers (which almost all GB diehards are going to be) on a silver platter. For my money, as a lifelong fan of the franchise, I'm excited about the change in scenery for those very reasons. Context clues already lead me to understand why we're out here (and for casuals, it's not like it's not going to be established once you're in the theater). The only reason I could see for catching those context clues and not being excited for the story to continue here is if GB is more of a nostalgic romp for you that is rooted in more time and place than it is lore and worlds, etc. If that's the case, the original films have received more than enough home releases to satisfy your cravings, and the 2009 video game just got a remaster. TL;DR - obviously Dr. Spengler headed out mid-west and setup shop in pursuit of deeper answers to the complex riddle that is Ivo Shandor, and now his descendants, down on their luck and predisposed to abnormal brilliance by virtue of being god damn Spenglers, are unwittingly tasked with picking up his work because Gozerian Cultists aren't restrained by the trappings of time or place.

The original cast came back for a sequel that was panned by critics and the studio considered it a financial flop. The women were massacred before it even hit the theater. But the kids will save the series

Stranger Things with some Ghostbusters references?
I’m sure I’ll see it, but definitely torn.

It took a long while but everyone is now showing appreciation for the Real Ghostbusters Junior Ghostbusters. 😉 The original cast came back for a sequel that was panned by critics and the studio considered it a financial flop. The women were massacred before it even hit the theater. But the kids will save the series
