This is an absolute nightmare on both sides. As a lifelong Packer fan, even I'm not sure what to do. On one hand, you have fresh blood who could be better for the team and mesh with the younger players in Aaron Rodgers, but he hasn't proved anything. Yeah he did well in Dallas, but that's because the defensive scheme was directed towards Brett Favre. Rodgers is a completely different style. You see that happen all the time in the NFL, it doesn't mean ****. Give defenses time to plan for Aaron, then see what happens. As anyone knows, Rodgers is also injury prone, so imagine the PR nightmare if they happened to trade Favre away and Rodgers suffers a injury again like a broken foot and is out 12 weeks. Brohm comes in, struggles badly, and the Packers go 5-11. Yes Brett Favre made a hasty decision, but people keep saying Favre has hung the retirement over the Packers for years. I call bull **** on that. The media were always the ones saying, "Favre should retire" and "he shouldn't come back." If anyone knows anything about winning in football, it's that you want to do it now. Are people forgetting that the Packers were one game away from the Superbowl? I hate to say it, but their best chance of getting back is with Brett Favre, not Aaron Rodgers. I have no idea what to do, but I imagine the fan backlash will be pretty heavy if Favre doesn't play or is traded away. Sure they decided to move on, but Favre is a legend in his own right, and Rodgers hasn't proved ****. Poor communication on both sides imo. Well said. But there is still a way to treat the legend with respect and also improving your team. Putting Favre on your bench is injustice to your team and to Brett himself. |

I met Chris Simms. He was a really nice guy. Then I took his ketchup (we were at Chili's) and took it home. lmao. He has a nice wife as well.

They said they expect Manning to make a full recovery in 3 - 4 weeks, thank god.

I met Chris Simms. He was a really nice guy. Then I took his ketchup (we were at Chili's) and took it home. lmao. He has a nice wife as well. i won't lie, he did get  ed over pretty bad in tampa. |

The NFL is stepping up its monitoring of on-field player activities to ensure that no one is flashing the hand signals of street gangs. The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that the league had hired experts to look at game tapes and identify players or team officials who might be using suspected gang signals. Violators would be warned and disciplined if the episodes recurred. League officials said Tuesday that avoiding gang-related activities has long been stressed. They said the scrutiny was intensified after the shooting death of Denver cornerback Darrent Williams in 2007 after Williams was involved in a dispute with known gang members. Anti-gang information is included in orientation literature and stressed in the annual mandatory league meeting for rookies. The NFL took further notice after Paul Pierce of the NBA’s Boston Celtics was fined $25,000 in April for what the league said was a “menacing gesture” toward the Atlanta Hawks’ bench. “I 100 percent do not in any way promote gang violence or anything close to it.” Pierce said in a statement. “I am sorry if it was misinterpreted that way at Saturday’s game.” The Times said that was the precipitating incident for the NFL. “We were always suspicious that might be happening,” it quoted Mike Pereira, the NFL’s vice president of officiating, as saying of gang-related signals. “But the Paul Pierce thing is what brought it to light. When he was fined … that’s when we said we need to take a look at it and see if we need to be aware of it.” Most senior NFL officials were at a league outing Tuesday and could not immediately be reached for comment.

So in my head right now "4-6 weeks" comes out as "Don't expect to see Peyton play until October" |

Word through the wire (it's in my local paper, search for a link somewhere) is that Brett Favre wrote a letter asking for reinstatement and is going to "call their (packers) bluff" as to making him play as a back-up. Yes, to say that Brett Favre would need to "compete" for the starting job is a little bruising to his ego, but maybe he needs to be humbled here a little bit. You don't just bail on your team and then say, "lol j/k guys I'm back." I don't know if you guys watched part 2 of the interview with Greta, but Favre was bashing Thompson on things like not getting Randy Moss. Also, that uninformed douche Greta kept saying "the Minneapolis Vikings" lol. To me, both sides need to put their ing egos in check and get something done. Both sides are acting like ing little girls, playing the "he said this" "no no I didn't he said this!!" Just like Thompson, Brett needs to take some responsibility for what he's doing to this organization. To come out and say, "you know I made a mistake by retiring early, and I'd like nothing else than to play for Green Bay" would have done wonders for his credibility. You can't retire, then say "give me my helmet or give me my release." On one hand, I understand where Brett is coming from. Imagine when Jordan first came back, if management in Chicago would have said, "you know Mike, I'm sorry but there really isn't a starting spot on the roster for you here. If you want to come back, you can be a 6th man. You can be the starting guard, but you'll have to compete for it." It would be blasphemy. Regardless of what happens, there is going to be some kind of fallout. If Thompson trades away Favre and Rodgers has a terrible season, it's pretty much a given that he can get his resume prepared for somewhere else because there is no way he'll be welcomed in Green Bay anymore. My main problem is that we (the general public) does not really know the truth. What if Brett is really a stubborn prick? What if Ted Thompson did force him out because he wants the glory of being the guy who picked Aaron Rodgers? Look, I'm rambling. Trade Favre or let him play. This is ing ridiculous. |
