As someone who doesn't watch the matches in NXT normally. The tag match was my favorite match of the night but the last match was very good. I seriously can't believe fat vladamir koslov beat Pete dunne. I really enjoyed that show though.

NXT TakeOver: New York was incredible! What a main event!!! After 2 years of chasing the title, Johnny Gargano has finally won the NXT Championship!! Absolutely phenomenal long-term storytelling, and to cap it all off, Ciampa shows up to embrace Gargano. This is why I love pro wrestling!! I have zero problems with all the finisher kick-outs, because this is really the only match that warranted it. Gargano has been working so hard for the past 2 years, and continuously come so close, that there was no way he could possibly stay down at any time. It was now or never for Johnny Gargano to finally win the big one. The long-term storytelling warranted it.
On the negative side, I still think that the Womens Championship result was complete bullcrap! Shayna should have lost the title long ago, and last night was the perfect opportunity. So now, the NXT Women's division continues being stagnant. Incredibly rare for NXT to make a mistake. I think this is the only result in NXT history which I have STRONGLY disagreed with. I've watched Shayna during her whole run, and I still find her boring. They have so many more talented superstars in Bianca Belair, Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai (when she returns), that there really is no excuse to keep wasting the talents of a roster like that for such a long length of time.

Woke up and said  it. I'm gonna watch takeover. Pete Dunne and walter came on, and I'm out. No more UK crap for me. I'm still waiting for the punchline. This HAS to be a joke. |

Yet another great show! I really wish WWE would run things more like NXT. Mostly all of these matches had decent buildup and a lot of the time, you really aren’t sure who is going to win.
I don’t care too much for the pairing of Ricochet and Aleister Black. I love them both as singles competitors but I would have rather seen a “legit” tag team. But still, this was such an amazing match. Usually tag matches on Takeovers are great. WWE could take not if that.
Velveteen Dream and Riddle was my least anticipated match. I love Dream and he always has a good showing but I just don’t care about Riddle. The match was awesome still but, I just don’t care about the “bro” stuff.
Dunne vs Walter was fantastic. I’m glad the UK Title was defended on this show since they don’t have big shows like this often and it deserves to be recognized on Takeovers more often IMO. I wasn’t too familiar with Walter on the Indies but the match was just great. I liked Dunne more as a heel when he first won the title and before that but he still always delivers in matches. I figured he’d lose the belt since his reign lasted forever.
The Women’s match was fun. A lot of cool spots. I don’t get anyone’s hate for BelAir. I think she’s proven to be more than competent in the ring. I honestly think/hope she’s the next champion. Io and Kairi were great as usual. I really think they will be pushed heavily in the women’s tag division. Baszler is great Champion but I’m surprised she won. I really thought she’d be getting called up....maybe she still will. I definitely think it’s time for her to drop the belt and go to the Main Roster.
The Main Event was great as well. Two super talented wrestlers that can be relied upon to always deliver. It REALLY sucks about Ciampa but I’m glad Gargano finally won the title. I wonder if Undisputed Era will get called up now? Unless they plan on having Cole feud with Gargano.

Well, I regret watching that before Mania. Couldn't risk spoilers being posted later tonight though, but damn. It had a lot to live up to, people calling it the best Takeover ever before it even happened... And it did not disappoint.
I genuinely don't think I've ever been that invested in a wrestling show in 20 years. Wow wow wow.

just catching up watching this show now...had to say richocet/aleister vs war raiders was just amazing. one of the absolute best tag matches I’ve ever seen in the modern age.
