I think they need to stick to bona-fide superstars. Volkoff was the right era, but he just doesn't have a ton of fans the way many superstars do (to this day). The nWo and Doink and Luger are good choices, but Volkoff and Orton are the types that will bring the line to a halt. It's a niche line, but you still need some mass appeal. Stick to the Brets, Pipers, Rick Rudes, Ricky Steamboats, Mr. Perfects (if he's available), etc. But he compliments the Iron Sheik. So now we just need Classy Freddie Blassie. I think it’s a good model packing a less popular wrestler with a well known team and a manager/announcer/ref type personality. So while I am glad we got Volkoff I do wish it was more theme based going forward.

So while I am glad we got Volkoff I do wish it was more theme based going forward. Yeah, I like the themed sets as well, but that may get harder to accomplish as time goes on as it will depend upon who they have signed at the time. Honky Tonk Man in tights or R&B Greg Valentine would have been the perfect 4th member for this set, but I don't know if they were signed at the time the set was put together. Volkoff is good to get, though not one I was clamoring for, he does fit in the timeline of the original Hasbro's, he was around in 1989-1991, so he does work. Though, he probably should have been in his US/USSR attire since that's what he wore in 1990/91. But this figure does go with the Iron Sheik already put out, and also fits in with the WM1 set. If they ever did a WM2 or WM3 set, the Volkoff figure released would fit in with those as well. Also, like you said, they can't just put out 4 top stars in each line otherwise the line will get stale, quick. They are going to have to put lower level guys in with each wave to make the line more expansive. Also, business wise, it's kind of smart putting a guy like Volkoff who probably wouldn't sell well on his own in a set where you have to purchase all 4. I like the unreleased set coming next, though Luger and Tugboat need more work. That Lawler figure coming looked amazing, I hope this is an indication of things to come. I also hope the guys with Lawler in the set are from the new generation era (1993/94). Jeff Jarrett would have been perfect, hopefully they will still be able to make figures of him. A Doink in the attire like the Ultimate Edition figure would be great as well (or even his more common blue attire), he feuded with both Lawler and Jarret at the time. And maybe for the 4th figure, the anchor, a new Bret Hart (maybe an all-pink attire like RR93, WM9, or SSE95) - he feuded with both Lawler and Doink, so he would fit the wave. But one thing this line needs is new molds. Lawler looks great, Hogan looks good, lets see some more that mimic the old Hasbro's better.

I assume as long as they still have him, we'll see him with the clothesline mech to reuse the Greg upper body mold. Interesting though; I’d presumed they’d go with Elias (with different legs) to do a guitar smash action. Yeah, I dunno, I wouldn't mind either red jumpsuit, or trunks, but I kinda wish they would just get as close to his original Hasbro as they can just so he would fit seemlessly with the Greg they're doing.

Though, I really don't need yet another doink lol. The Hasbro and now this version of the Orange card one is more than enough for me. If Lawler is a new gen set, say 93-94 era, I know he wears that attire at Summerslam 93' against Bret, not sure off the top of my head if it comes back off and on through the years, but I assume it did. 3 more for a new gen set with him I'd love and updated Bret, some rumors said he was going to get another Hasbro and have a molded jacket, that would be sweet. I'd also love a Razor Ramon in maybe red attire from Rumble 93' or powder blue from Summerslam 94'. And a Shawn, maybe blue from Summerslam 95'? That Luger is bad, I'll get it, and it'll be cool to be able to play with, but won't make my display. And Tugboat, wish they would make him fatter, really need some new molds for some of these guys.

So what are people’s predictions on who will realistically be joining Lawler in the next set?
As I mentioned previously, I predict these two:
- Vader, using Tugboat body with different legs. - Jeff Jarrett (providing they had time to get it done after his signing), using either clothesline action as a nod to the planned Hasbro or Elias (with different legs) to do a guitar smash. I’d love for a Jarrett to haves new mould with moulded straps, but seems unlikely.
And the final figure is difficult to peg - Backlund would work for me, but as someone said earlier, it might be worth getting a top name in like Shawn or Bret.

HTM, Mabel, maybe Greg Valentine since it seems like they try to throw in ones that won't be big sellers on their own.

I think Lawler should come in a New Generation pack. Realistic candidates to join him:
HBK needs a '95 or '96 figure that does him justice. Also, King Mabel Heel 1-2-3 kid Vader Ultimate Warrior ('96 return)
Or, you could skew to '93 and have Lawler with:
Bobby Heenan (seriously, this needs to be in the next revealed wave) Hogan and Brutus (Mega-Maniacs)

Lawler, Jarrett, Vader and King Mabel would be my picks for a New Gen themed wave.
Though of course they'll probably give us two of those, and then do two big stars that already have hasbros that I'll have to resell.

I think after Greg, lex, Green pants Macho, tugboat etc, it's safe to assume they are really thinking of the hasbro line, so I hope someone at mattel is remembering the series 7 hbk proto 🙏 🙏
I loved the proto, was a bit gutted when it came out with the stuck together legs 🦵

The Lawler punch action seems like it could be a setup for future HBK to match the prototype.

I hope so... some of us don't have all the original Hasbros (especially MOC). I for one would hate it if this turned into an "unreleased Hasbros" only line.

Did they give any indication of when the NWO sets would be released and are both two packs being released at the same time? Also, I would love it if we got two DX packs to go against these

Also, I would love it if we got two DX packs to go against these Steve has said they're down for quarter 2 next year (so April to June time). Both tag sets will be available as a bundle (like the Creations sets, in a box) but also available separately - so you could get e.g. one Hogan/Syxx set and two Outsiders sets, etc.
