I would love, if from now on there are themes to to each waves. (Actually Wave 1+3 had themes anyway, but that Nikolai Volkoff in Wave 2 was just so random) Now knowing that we got Jerry Lawler, there could be a "1994 Heels Wave". My picks for that would be: Mr. Fuji Yokozuna Heel Backlund Or a "Royalty" Wave. For that I'd choose: Macho King (Long Tights) Queen Sherri King Mabel I like both of these sets. All great pics that fit in with Lawler and the original Hasbro line. What tights are you thinking for Savage? I would pick the tights from the Saturday Night's Main Event episode with Buster Douglas as special referee. (they also released the Hall of Fame Elite with those tights.

Yeah, those would be good. There are a lot of great, very colorful choices for him. I got a Custom done in that gear a couple of years ago. Awesome. The tights he is wearing in the photograph for the card would also be great. These would have been good as well, it was the image on the card for Series 3:

These all look great. Those WM7 tights would have been great for a Series 3 Savage:

I like the look from that trading card, think that photo on his Series 3 card is in similar or the same gear. Would love the Summerslam 89' tights too, along with Zues. And Mania 7 in a 2-pack with Warrior would be cool.

Well after I got my set delivered a little more than a week ago with damaged bubbles to Valentine and Doink I got my buddies set in the mail today and luckily his were all in good shape, so I was able to swap out my damaged Doink and Valentine for his. So glad I don't need to deal with Mattel to get a replacement set.

That would have been an awesome attire for that figure. Still hoping Mattel makes that attire in figure form, maybe a future elite/UE. And I too would like the SSL89 tights as well, same with Zeus. That would be a cool 4 pack set from Mattel: Savage, Zeus, Beefcake and Hogan from Summer Slam 1989 all in one set, or maybe each packed in a 2-pack set like the upcoming NWO sets.

My guess is that the Macho King when he get him will probably be WrestleMania 7 since that is one of the biggest matches in history so if Mattel only do one Macho King (which they probably would only do once given the limited space for figures) then I'd think they would go for this one.
The most likely alternative I think would be the tights the mini-Hasbro had since that is the one that us collectors think should've been planned for the series 3 figure (who wasn't Macho King technically, but still) - remember that Steve and the current team are well aware of the history of the line, and they already got the green trunks Macho out based on the history of that Hasbro figure, so this would fit as well.
Outside of those two outfits then I think designs that have already been tackled by the Elites are a good bet, though as we've seen recently with R&B Greg the Retros aren't just restricted to designs Mattel have already done in their other lines.

Do we know what real attire the green/ purple mini Hasbro attire was based on?

It still blows my mind that Mattel made two Randy Savages and neither one was a 1990 1991 long tights Macho King!
He has to be one that is in the way.

I agree that the mini-hasbro is the most likely, but I think WM7 and WM8 offer more obvious 4 pack choices that could really become some of the more-coveted packs by collectors. Full disclosure my dream retro figure is Miss Elizabeth, as a Savage mark/collector I consider her the biggest hole in the Hasbro/Retro line. WM7, my pipe-dream, Macho King and Elizabeth which you could combine with Warrior and Sherri, Gorilla and Brain, if you squint hard enough even Hogan and Slaughter could make sense. To my knowledge we've never gotten an Elizabeth WM7, I can't think of a better way to get her in retro form. WM8 would be the next best thing though. Of all the retail retros, the Flair is becoming one of if not the most coveted on the resale market. Re-doing Flair in red would improve the Hasbro figure once and for all and give newer collectors a second crack at him. Admittedly I can't think of a second mold that would work great for Flair to avoid this being a straight repaint, maybe some variation of the leg kicks for an imaginary figure four? Regardless I think Macho, Liz, Flair and either Heenan or Mr. Perfect would be a tremendous seller.

Agreed, though I'm really happy we got the two Macho's we got. I always keep NWO Macho at the front of my display, the detailing on that figure is brilliant and he'll only be enhanced further by having the RSC figures join him. Green trunks Macho was one of the more exciting surprises at the time for me. The Series 3 Hasbro just should have been the long tights Macho. Even when series 2 came out I believe he was phasing out of the short trunks, though S2 Macho King is my favorite hasbro of all time so I have absolutely no complaints with that. But Hasbro took what was already a vaguely outdated look and then made it completely outdated because (to my knowledge) Savage never went back to the short trunks as the Macho Man. For a line that made a wide variety of new molds and was on top of keeping things reasonably current, especially early-on, that's a really head-scratching spot to cost cut.

These all look great. Those WM7 tights would have been great for a Series 3 Savage: Man, thats a big Macho Man Collection. You Guys seem to be the Biggest Macho Man Fans here...you have other Macho Figures too, or only Retros?

Now you mention it I can't remember seeing the actual real gear in action (or something close to it) but I've seen the mini so often that I feel like I've seen the gear a million times

Regardless I think Macho, Liz, Flair and either Heenan or Mr. Perfect would be a tremendous seller. WM8 is one of my favourite looks for sure, but I think the momentum is behind getting him in tights without a shirt, so I'd be surprised if we get WM8 before a tights Savage, but hopefully the line lasts long enough to get many more Macho figures. All that being said, I could see them doing a Mega Powers bundle: -Savage (Mega Powers trunks) -Hogan (Mega Powers trunks) -Miss Elizabeth (Mega Powers outfit with the skirt, like her recent Elite) -Brutus Beefcake (Mega Maniacs - the missing Hasbro) I think that could go down well with collectors - Hogan and Savage will always sell; the missing Brutus is well known to collectors, and Miss Elizabeth is one of the remaining missing pieces from our childhood collections; winners all round?

But they were always a year behind what was actually on TV, due to time to develop and produce. I always assumed Series 3 Macho was just going to be a straight re-release of the Series 2 Macho King, as they did with re-packing Piper and Duggan into Series 3, they just took away the accessories and made the very minor change to trunks late in the game I'd think.
