I think the only other thing he said in regard to Retros was Series 14 with Lawler is already finalized in terms of who is in it. Hopefully they give us another teaser on someone else in that wave before the year is up and don't make us wait till WrestleMania I saw he added in his Q&A thread that the Lawler set was loosely the same era. So I guess New Gen-ish maybe? Just thinking in terms of the pattern so far, it's been: - 3 new characters (in terms of either the wrestler or just the specific gimmick not released as a Hasbro) - 1 re-do (Piper, Bret, Doink) - Besides the "lost" orange card set, seems likely each one will have a non-wrestler too (Mean Gene, Jimmy Hart) So my guess would be along the lines of: - Jerry Lawler - Paul Bearer - Undertaker - Mabel Damn, if only I knew Mabel was signed elsewhere at the time, I'd have nailed this prediction! |

Very happy with this set! Great to get Paul Bearer and Vader especially. Still hoping for Heenan by the end of the weekend….

Great set, so happy to get Vader.
Paul Bearer is a surprise, and Lawler looks great..
I'm not overly keen on Taker and I would have never have thought about him.
Hopefully a peak of the next wave too..
Very happy..

I’ll buy two sets for sure, I love retros… but we already have a purple Taker. So many others I would have rather seen. Hopefully they show more.

Overall great set, best one they've done so far when you evaluate the figures as they are. Idk why I never considered we'd get a Taker and Bearer when it was so obvious we would.
Is it ridiculous to suggest Paul Bearer may be the best retro figure they've done?? I laughed out loud at how absurdly great that figure is. Maybe his face was just made for the retro style, I don't know. Grand slam.
We spoke Vader into existence!!! Real happy about that one. Not absolutely certain they nailed the body type, but putting Vader in the shelf fed has been a dream of mine for a while.
Would have preferred an Attitude Era Taker, Ministry, even American Badass I think would be cool, but that's mostly because I think the Series 1 Taker is a home run, didn't need any improvement. Assuming this line goes for the foreseeable future and we get multiple Undertakers the mask is a cool one to have in this form. Edit: Also the first hatless Undertaker retro. That counts for something in my book.
How great Jerry looked set promises for this wave high. Promises delivered in my opinion.

I was just watching old PPVs a few weeks ago and the Taker with mask crossed my mind as a possibility since the demand for Bearer was so high. I thought the fourth figure would be Isaac Yankem though due to his connection with both Lawler and later with Taker as Kane.
Disappointed Vader is the final guy in the set because I’ve never seen the appeal of him as a wrestler (especially from this era) but I get it from a demand standpoint.
Hard to be too upset though as the set is great overall and maybe the best of the four waves we’ve gotten since they were pulled from retail.

I’m slightly disappointed with this set. Lawler has grown on me. Vader is a must even if he is a little underwhelming. Undertaker is a total letdown. They did so little to change it from the Series 1 Undertaker…and the head doesn’t look great. Paul Bearer is very good but not quite great. Years ago I bought this custom (with the hands together) and it really set the bar high for me:  |

What a great set. This is what I want from the line, new characters that were never made! Lawler, Vader, Bearer. I didn't need masked Taker, but it's fine. It gives me hope they're listening and not just going to pump out constant repaints.

Taker is a bit of a letdown, but he's also an improvement (in pics) over his other purple Retro (because this head is a better sculpt on its own), so I can dig it. Otherwise and overall, this set is outstanding.

meanwhile Mattel are here releasing 4 figures (with actual actions) for the price of one of Zombie's figures, so there is even less incentive for me to invest in Zombie's figures any further when other manufacturers are offering similar figures for a much more reasonable price point, and Mattel's shipping process is likely to continue to be just after their "pre-order" window expires. I bagged another Wave 2 set from Mattel after the first had arrived, and didn't pay ridiculous shipping rates, so price is a key factor now - it's a large market, and when Mattel are releasing a whole pack for $50 it's worth investing in the big boys
if at any point in the future I feel like buying a Zombie figure, I'd rather go through PWTs and get cheaper shipping (plus couple it with some other stuff) rather than pay months in advance for figures that I haven't seen the final version of, and he's unable to deliver for months on end |
