The New Gen set is awesome, but I'm going to have to wait until the new year and hope they still have some left.
I just have way too much stuff I am spending money on the rest of the year (video games mostly) not to mention Christmas and no joke here from mid September to end of November I have six yes six family members birthdays lol. Not to mention I am sure that each time the wife and I do our weekly food shopping it costs more each damn week!

Might they mean bundle 2 of 2023 (the first being the orange cards)?
We found-out during the original cancellation that Mattel look at lines across the whole year, so series 10 hit Ringside during the summer of 2019 (IIRC) and they announced that the line was done in July, but Steve said a little bit later that the line wasn't officially ended until 2020 (I think it was in the Q&A thread, though I don't remember the context). So it's probably a calendar thing.

So how many sets are people gonna order?
I usually get 2 - one set fit loose and one for customs. But not sure how useful the next set would be for customs….Bearer can work for any suited guys but not much comes to mind for the others in the set!

I’ll be ordering one and that’s begrudgingly just for the Stud figure. I honestly think that within a year with what Epic/ZST will be releasing and if G&G’s keep improving they’ll all be totally showing up the multi billion dollar company for the lazy cheap effort they have put in to their Retros.

Mostly for the Vader figure. I have some modern guys that can use that base. I’m thinking Killian Dain and Ivar. I’m not sure what I’d do with the extra Undertakers. But, I’m sure the Lawler would work for something. And of course as you said for the Bearer suit. I’ve been wanting to make a Brother Love. But, surely, he’d have to be made at some point. Maybe a Dangerous Alliance era Paul Heyman.

We’ve long since reached that point. Retros are what they are. They’re a licensed knockoff just like the rest. Slightly more affordable and with a potentially greater pool of Legends to select from.

I only need two sets (one MOC, one loose) but I've taken the max that Mattel Creations have allowed so far in the hope of doing my bit to keep the line going, so if it's three again then I'll take an extra set.

This isn't the Studd set (which I won't be ordering. He is the only one I want, and I'm gonna try and buy him separately).
This is the great set of Lawler, Bearer, Vader, and Taker (the one I'm not excited about). Just 1 for me

I wish we would get more retros. Mattel being a billionaire dollar company though is probably the reason why we aren't. Retros are niche line of one of their many brands. If they sold, they would make more. Id imagine they probably have a run of 5-8K on MC. A billon dollar company doesn't see the benefit of wasting time, resources, and product spots when they could release other figures/lines that will sell better. This board is probably the main reason why we are even still getting 12 a year. Those smaller companies are charging a lot more (probably due to smaller quantities). If Mattel charged $40-50 for each figure (and their figures don't fall apart, can barely stand up, tattoos rubbing off, etc.), I think most people here would pass.

They are niche, but they also made a number terrible decisions that ruined the line when they first brought it back. They brought the failure on to themselves, I still don’t think they listen to what the hardcore fans want from this line, and when there’s so few per year it makes it incredibly frustrating when they waste a space on someone like Mohamed Ali when they know pretty much everyone is crying out for a Heenan for example.
I would happily pay more for their figures if they put more effort in to them. I would prefer them to get rid of the action features that let’s be honest are not really needed by grown men in favour of them using the cost it takes up on better tooling or putting more detail in the figures.

That's the thing though... by the sounds of it, even us Retro collectors want different things from the line (personally, I love Ali's inclusion!). But some want a continuation of the Hasbro line... some want re-do's of Hasbro figures... some want only all-new figures... some only want Hasbro era figures... some want Attitude and RA figures etc etc... It's going to be extremely difficult to please most people. FWIW though - since the relaunch (apart from the orange card/Series 3 set), I think they're doing very well with the figures choices.

I get that you and many others may be happy to have an Ali figure, But… would he have honestly been on your mind as a release before we saw pictures of their SDCC Ultimate Ali? Over a Mr Wonderful that would’ve made a hell of a lot more sense?
When they know most would be over the moon with a Bobby Heenan and will now have to hope he’ll be released in 2025? Again if they were releasing more Retros per year I don’t think they’d be any grumbling about the more niche figures.
When people make their most wanted lists on here generally you see the same names. A lot of these names are under contract with WWE, why do they continually get ignored over an Ali, a Richter, a masked Undertaker?
If Mattel had put the love and effort in to the Retros as they have the Superstars line then I’m pretty sure it would’ve been more of a success.

For me the action features are a must - that was a key part of the original line and only Mattel retros have been able to recreate it.
In regards to Heenan, Orndorff, etc. … I reckon they know everyone wants them, but given they haven’t had figures for quite a while then it must be acknowledged that they are not under a merchandise deal at the moment. They can only make who they’re allowed to. Although to be fair there are some that are/were under deals that prob should have been made by now … Sherri, Rude, long tights Macho, Zeus, etc.

I’m all for action features but if costs need to be cut Id drop them over figure details or an accessory here or there in a heartbeat.
Personally hope you’re right and Heenan is no longer under contract, would prefer the likes of ZST or Epic pick them up so that we get figures that will fit with Hasbros and not the likes of the Hulk sized figures of Mean Gene, Bearer and especially Jimmy Hart that we got!

Exactly this - there *must* be people under Legends deals that are dream wants. I get they are spacing them out possibly, but still...
Richter was the biggest dissapointment. But maybe they didn't have Elizabeth, Sherry, or Luna, or anyone else under a deal. Or maybe they thought it was easier to sculpt and also re-use a female wrestler?

I don't think Luna has ever been under a deal. It's been awhile since Elizabeth has been released. Sherri was released last year, but who knows if her deal was up since she was signed awhile before they released her first elite. Also, I'm not sure how they would do Elizabeth and Sherri since they wore dresses a lot - I'm not sure if they would be able to execute a dress mold that they would only use a couple of times. We would prob get a WM 7 Elizabeth and a WM6 Sherri. Maybe they would be able to do a WM7 Sherri since it wasn't a normal flowing dress.
