Shipping the same day they go up for order is a massive W. Well done, Mattel. and THAT is how you do pre-order folks
produce the figures > publish the page > process the orders > package them up > post them to customers
just like a normal business does.

Nothing on mine yet - the SDCC Ali seemed to go out later for those outside the US, hopefully that isn’t happening now as that would suggest it’s a policy Mattel Creations have adopted.
Hopefully I’ll have a shipping notice by morning.

I have been charged $156 for 2 sets shipped to the uk. They’re $60 each ($120) but my subtotal shows $145.28 then the shipping is 11.08. 🤔

You guys got me excited -- I checked my shipping notification, and not yet (and I'm in CA). Guess I didn't order soon enough.

Although that’s not actually a pre-order at all - it’s the general selling an in stock item! 😂 Although to be fair, they are still doing that better than a lot of companies by getting them out same day!

I ordered mine the minute they went up so not shipped yet, so that doesn't seem to be a factor. Be interesting to hear when orders outside the US start shipping, anyone know of anyone who has already got their notification? Not that I have a problem with not being first out of the factory, but interesting to see this play-out given the Ali situation.

I got my shipping notice at 3 AM today California time. I must say, it's the first time I've really been excited to get something in a long time. I can't wait to open the Lawler, Bearer, and Vader. Hope you get yours soon. (And so bummed it will be at least Wave 6 till I get this excited again.)

I've forgotten how these are sent out... do they put the whole thing/shipping box inside another box? With wave 3, it was the same as the Ringside NWO set I think - the figures on cards are in the 4-pack display box, and that’s put into another box to ship. Although I just got the Jurassic Park Steven Spielberg figure from Mattel Creations delivered yesterday, and that had the figure box, inside a brown box, inside another brown shipping box.

This is EASILY my favorite of all the Retro waves released thus far. They look even better in person. Bearer’s got a soft plastic grip hand for holding the urn. Lawler’s crown is molded on. Box looks to be the same size as previous MC sets. Not the same as the nWo exclusive, though.
The cards are encased in protective sleeves, which can be removed safely without damaging the card. There’s a tab that hangs over the back of the j-hook; just gently extend it and slide the card out. The figures should drop out without issue. Bearer’s urn may require some added force to pop it out. No chance of it coming loose beforehand.
Also, because Taker’s arms are a hard plastic, he cannot hold the urn in the same way as Bearer. Maybe if you were to manipulate the hands in some way, it might be possible, but I’m not about to disfigure my…erm…figure.

But, it does look like it’s a great wave! I still haven’t gotten my shipping info. Hopefully I’ll receive it soon.

I like my Vader to be an imposing figure. I really like the thickness of the sculpt. It’s not too big and not too small. Maybe if it sat lower on the legs - sort of like a bobble head - the torso wouldn’t seem as long. Everything else about it is solid. The paint apps are some of the best I’ve seen out of Retros in a LONG while. And the heads aren’t oversized like some of them have been in previous sets. There’s a lot to like about this set.

Bearer’s suit jacket is a soft plastic/rubbery material, by the way. If you look inside it, the white paint stops just beneath the lapel, but it’s not done sloppily. The black paint below it is curved in a way to make it look like he’s wearing a vest underneath. The tie is painted red all the way to the tip. It’s molded to the torso. Vader has really neat stitch lines sculpted into his mask and singlet top.

And I actually love that Paul Bearer - I think it’s one of the best they’ve done, even though it’s fairly simple. So is Bearer’s body a different sculpt to Mean Gene?

No, I believe it is the same body sculpt (part number matches on the feet, too), except for the right arm. The right hand is much wider to accommodate the urn, and it’s a little more flexible than Mean Gene’s. Fingernails show through more on Paul Bearer’s right hand. The suit jacket feels like a softer, more rubbery plastic material than Mean Gene, but it’s the same sculpt and retains the same shape.

Bearer still looks chunkier to me!
