My sets (finally) arrived today! Going from the previous release dates then it should be: WM1 Bundle (Ali, Studd, Richter, Hogan): January DX Bundle (H, Chyna, Gunn, Road Dogg): May Hopefully they surprise us with the DX set earlier than that, but I think they said it was one Ringside bundle per year. Maybe we get another RSC set in Nov 24' then? If we were at least getting 4 offerings a year, every 3 months, that would ease some of the sting of them not really doing guys that really excite me. It probably depends on sales - if RSC is happy with how the nWo set did (and assuming future sets sell), then they hopefully they go to at least two sets a year. 1. A NOD 4 pack would be cool now that D'Lo is signed again. 2. Not sure if Nelson Frazier (Mabel, Viscera) is still signed, but a Ministry of Darkness set would be another option. Only downside is that we would probably need another Taker release: Taker, Viscera, Acolytes 3. Corporation Set Big Bossman (just had a Funko release), Ken Shamrock, Shane McMahon, and Vince McMahon. If that can't do Vince, then add the Rock to the set (assuming they can still do Shane McMahon). 4. ECW set Dudleys, Sandman, Paul Heyman

I can’t believe we don’t have a Vince retro. Arguably the biggest heel of all. I’d take powder blue jacket, Raw announcer, or ring gear, or power suit.
Maybe Vince is the best box set…lol
(We need Shane too. Love the corporation idea, along with NOD)

Just for fun…if Mattel could redo any 4 Hasbros realistically who would you pick (no Owen Hart or forbidden talent)? My picks: The obvious choices - Rick Rude and Kamala with a better/bigger body types. Unpopular opinion - Andre The Giant (making him larger and better looking). Last but not least - Iraq sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter Similarly if Mattel could remake 4 Retros, what would you choose and why? Diesel (first one was absolutely awful) Goldberg (no one wanted the modern day version and it was a terrible representation at that) Mankind (in his brown gear) Jim Neidhart (yes I know he is newer but he deserved a better body type and should be made to match the original Bret Hasbro). Hasbro re-dos: Heel Crush - he was one of my favourites at this point, but the green card version really ain’t good. I’d have him with the press slam like Borga, as he regularly used this move. 123 Kid - haven’t got the Hasbro, and seems unlikely I will with it’s current going rate - but I would prefer one with an action like Martel so that I could’ve replicated his famous moonsault on Razor. And a unique slimmer torso. Rick Rude - one of my favourites, so needs a figure to do him justice. I don’t hate the Hasbro as much as many seem to; for me a new version would need a crooked arm to replicate the Rude Awakening. Finally I would’ve said a long tights Macho, but I really like the nwo one Mattel did, so that lessens the need for one for me - so instead I’m going to cheat and pick a tag team in the final slot: The Rockers - they were my favourite tag team in ‘91 (I was a Marty guy, never liked Shawn), but their hasbros were not great - but did make sense that they were variants of the jumper action. Retro re-dos: Diesel - a really disappointing figure, especially after all these years. Shawn Michaels - love the new action move, but would change to 92-94 era and have a head that looks like him too! Sting - Wolfpack was a waste, change to Surfer Sting, with either a press slam action or a jumper with new legs that aren’t stuck together. Anvil or Volkoff - totally wrong body choices, both would be better off with the Rock/big E body, although preferably a new thicker mould.

Four Hasbro remakes: Sgt Slaughter - no hat. Removable headdress. Rick Rude - this is an obvious one. Mountie - no hat or jacket. LOD - removable shoulder pads.
Four Retro remakes: The second Sting - do as an early nineties Sting, with the press slam action. Kofi Kingston - different jumper body, more like the Rumblers Rampage one. Goldberg - same body type as Braun Strowman. Shawn Michaels - boyhood dream era.

With Brian Pillman Jr now being with WWE, I’ve been wondering about the Retros if we see his Dad’s figures return to Mattel’s roster (no idea if there’s news on this or not?).
If he does become available again then I wonder if the next Ringside tag team bundle after DX (hopefully there is one!) could be the Hart Foundation?
That would keep the factions theme they’ve been doing, and after the top tier groups like nWo and DX, the Horsemen not being available, Evolution being a bit too recent for the line, then a group like the Hart Foundation could be the right profile to continue the run.
Getting Bret and Anvil together would be an obvious target (though this was many years after the tag team split-up), Bulldog and Pillman in the other. Obviously incomplete without Owen, but that’s never changing so we should make the best of it if we have the other four available?
Canadian Stampede attires I expect, but then the question becomes how they do the jackets? Moulded would be the obvious answer I suppose, which would be probably in keeping with the Hasbros, but still disappointing if we couldn’t remove them - could they add a bit of extra articulation so Bret and Anvil could have removable jackets? Pillman and Bulldog should be easy enough with their sleeveless jackets/waistcoats/vests.
I feel like a Hart Foundation set would have to have the jackets represented somehow. Or would the material they use on the Mean Gene/Jimmy Hart figure’s jacket be flexible enough to remove and replace without tearing?

A Hart Foundation set seems like a good set for them to do; especially considering the time frame of their previous sets. But like you say, it would take some thinking on their end to do it justice. I also wonder whether it could be a little too close to the previous Bret & Anvil releases 🤷🏻♂️ I suppose Nation of Domination could also be a possibility, as mentioned previously. I really hope they don’t do Evolution; far too recent for my tastes, personally. I think the Dangerous Alliance would be my first choice - but obviously there’d be limitations with not being able to do every member. But would still be cool to get: Paul E Dangerously - Okelund mold, with phone. Rick Rude - best bet would be the anvil/ Lex mold out of what’s currently available. Stunning Steve - stone cold mold. Madusa - new female mold.

A loose cannon Pillman retro would be great (I think zst is making one?)
As for re-dos
Hasbro
Rick Rude 1-2-3 Kid The rockers (some of the worst work Hasbro did. Maybe the worst. Wtf with those likenesses?)
Mattel retros Diesel Shawn Michaels (another truly terrible fig) Bray Wyatt Ultimate Warrior (the head looks like a joke)

Received a package today with 2 sets of wave 4 that they refunded me for, then received another package of wave 4 which I actually paid for after they cancelled my first order. 3 sets for the price of 1 🤷♂️😂😂😂

With Epic Toys having announced a Bobby Heenan, I can’t help but feel Mattel dropped the ball on this. Wondering if this rules out the possibility of The Brain being included in any future Retro sets. That would be a pity, as he slots into so many possible sets - WM1, WM3, with Gorilla, with Flair/Perfect, WCW, Heenan Family etc

I was going to come and post the same thing. It's incredibly disappointing if we don't get a Heenan retro.

Yeah... if we don't get a Heenan retro, it will be really disappointing. I was kind of hoping for a Gorilla/Heenan 2-pack, similar to the RSC NWO and DX ones...

How long do we think these will actually continue for? I’m loving them and there’s definitely more I want but wouldn’t want it to end up like the current Mattel line with far too many series and re paints ect…

There is a fair amount they could still pull off but once the heavy hitters and double-dipping has dried up…sales will decline. I don’t want them to end it though; I would even be content with new guys over no more retros.

That would be a pity, as he slots into so many possible sets - WM1, WM3, with Gorilla, with Flair/Perfect, WCW, Heenan Family etc It would be interesting to know the details of the timeline of the Heenan situation - he clearly had a WWE Legends deal once but I don't think he's had a figure since the weasel suit one when the Legends line returned? That must be a few years ago now, so (if he hasn't had a figure since) then his deal could've lapsed at any point since then; maybe he hasn't actually been available to Mattel since the Retros returned? We're unlikely to find-out, but would explain why he wasn't used earlier. Epic have him scheduled for their next series, so maybe they're rushing him out? If they have a short window between an old Legends deal expiring and another starting then they might need to prioritise him (as I think happened with DDP?) and get him out ASAP? The important thing is he will finally be represented in that scale, but on the other hand then losing those potential sets (especially Heenan Family) is disappointing.

Chella Toys was bought out and became Epic. Around the time of them taking full ownership, Heenan was signed…I *think* that would have been around a year ago. I’ll have to go back and listen to their interview on 3POA or better yet - just wait for the episode to drop this Wednesday when they will be on the show.

Well I don’t know why, but I’ve just been refunded again for my wave 4 set, so now I have 3 sets that arrived a few days ago and I’ve paid a total of $0. Thanks mattel 😁

I’m looking forward to a few things from Epic, the powers of pain especially look great and will get the Heenan, I just hope they manage to correct the standing issue. The Adam Bomb just about stands ok but rocks a little and the Haku seems to take ages to balance too, very annoying.

I have not had issues getting Haku to stand…and he moves around a lot as I use him right now as my comparison piece from Epic. I also did some figure photography with him last week and posed him without issues. I’m not saying at all that yours isn’t having problems; it’s just not something I was experiencing. His tiny feet definitely could make that a bigger problem.

Hopefully something the Epic guys fix moving forwards. Would be good to have peg holes too.
