Not sure how long the retro train will roll,
But,
I’d really like to get Heenan, the 90/91 Hart Foundation, Sherri, Zeus, Brother Love, and Vince before it’s said and done.
It’s just frustrating as tiny boutique companies have a better idea of what we collectors really want. The next retro set just isn’t it. (DX looks great tho) Time and again, Mattel has found ways to undermine themselves with this line.

The dx set is ok but pretty lame that they didnt add in xpac when we already have a hhh in purple that would've been fine. Theres no real hype for mattels retros anymore

How long do we think these will actually continue for? I’m loving them and there’s definitely more I want but wouldn’t want it to end up like the current Mattel line with far too many series and re paints ect… Think they need to sign some new legend names, I know this isn’t really down to Mattel, more WWE but if we can’t then they’ll die sooner than most of us would hope. The next set already feels a bit desperate and it’s the first one I’ll be skipping, don’t want a single one. I know people like the NWO sets and DX set I’m sure will sell but I still think the sweet spot is filling in gaps from the Hasbro era then skirting around the year or two before Hasbro series one and then maybe up to 96/97 - before bone crunchers etc. Feels like we have more chance of ZST/Epic/Hasstel filling out the collection than Mattel. I’m really hoping one of the others can get an Owen Hart deal struck. AEW aren’t utilising him as much as I’d have hoped in figure form, still waiting for an Owen I remember in 6/7” scale but a couple of Retro figures would be awesome too - I’m sure Zombie said that he tried once? I’m sure they all would have already tried but fingers crossed we can see one or two in the future…ideally, Zombie but I’d take any.

Yeh I have no real interest in dx but I’ll get them because I like to have a full set. If they start making current guys again then I’m out. The first thing they should have done was the complete orange card series that hasbro scrapped. I know other have released them since but at silly prices and to limited countries. From now if it does continue it should be aimed at what hasbro missed in the region of 88-96 (I know hasbro was 90-94). Add some announcers and more managers

Theres no real hype for mattels retros anymore That upgraded Hunter was essential. X-Pac was already in the nWo set and people would have complained too. You have 5 essential characters for a 4-pack.

Man, strange to see you guys down on dx.
Yes, I’d prefer a 97 HBk, but the purple trunks triple h was weak and needed an upgrade. It’s so cool to have CHYNA, and I’m glad to have the Outlawz. Definitely a team I wanted in retro form back in the day.
The WrestleMania 1 set is just not for me. Wil be buying for Studd and that’s it.

DX is the more interesting set. A better HHH is a bonus; The other 3 figures are more important. Though I do wish they would stay away from Jumpers. They could have given Road Dogg the punching mechanism and Billy the leg kick…but it probably all comes down to what reusable parts would be cheapest. The WM1 set only has one figure that really interests me: Big John Studd. I’m ok with Ali. Wendi Richter means almost nothing to me. Hogan would be more acceptable if they gave us something a little different. Hulk from that era without a shirt would have been better than the gear they gave him. Perhaps I’m in the minority on that one. Wishful thinking but including his belt would have made a world of difference. Also, instead of a mic, Ali should have come with a blue ring bell.

At the rate of all the other companies securing wrestlers and other personalities there won’t be anyone of note left for Mattel to make soon.

While Mattel might not be able to get some of the niche superstars no longer on the roster, don’t discount the superstars and eras they do have access to. With the shift to the new Retro sales model, Bill and Steve have both taken a larger role in the line. As long as they remain connected, there’s hope for good stuff down the line. Also, Ringside’s approach is also another route to add variety. While they might not fill in some of the older gaps, focusing on themes, eras and stables could be an evergreen avenue to approach it. The first run of NWO sold out which was great to see. Think DX should have the same response.

I wonder if RSC would be better served to offer an exclusive 2 pack every 6 months or one single figure every quarter instead of these once a year 4 packs?

Just picked up the latest set on ringside. Going all in. Love how they are easily available so people don't have to pay double to scalpers. Hoping to see more tag teams in this line!

Somewhat agree, but there are still alot of guys Mattel seems to have locked up that aren't available to the indys. Guys that seem to be locked to Mattel and stuff I want from them are: HBK from 95/96 Bret from 95/96 Hall and Nash in ring gear Hunter in blue blood gimick Bob Backlund Are some off top of my head, now I do want them to do a better job of these though, so many they've done have been dissapointing like Luger, Tugboat, Vader etc.

I guess they could do a before they were legends 4 pack, Helmsley, Ringmaster Austin, Isaac Yankem, Rocky Maivia. The other companies so far seem to have the more obscure characters covered really well.

Yes, I'd be well more excited for that set than the coming WM1 or DX sets. Or maybe even switch out Yankem for debut Mankind?

Speaking of debut Mankind, I always imagined Mattel would eventually do a Foley bundle: 1. Debut Mankind 2. Dude Love 3. Cactus Jack 4. Commissioner Foley Four different figures rather than one figure repainted several times of course (best to clarify that). But with talk recently about the Foley exclusive Ringside Elites being redesigned for Foley to sign all three windows, I wonder if Mattel would do something special for the packaging of that set? A Retros boxset? Maybe a 4-figure-long card?? Something fun like that would look incredible signed by Foley.

I would replace commissioner with a Foley 2004 era A tie dye barbwire flannel shirt type design on the box would kick ass
