We need 2009 Kofi back with his attitude and style from when he was feuding with Orton I think that it would drastically help him right now or a heel turn Kofi could possibly work if done right. I just think everyone really isn't taking his title run serious right now because of him being held down for so long

They're saying he's going to to Ghana on 5/30 as wwe champion. WWE I believe made a press release out of it. Doesn't that kind of spoil his match vs Owens at MITB? I mean surely he can't lose and not go to Ghana(his home country) without being wwe champion? Unless Owens wins and Kofi wins it back by then, but there would be no point to that.
To answer the OP's question, yeah it doesn't feel like he is wwe champion because since winning it he has gone back to being part of the new day comedy act. He'll probably lose the title before or at Summerslam.

It may have been better if Vince were still involved. You know before Mania how Vince was all over the build by saying, "oh Kofi you aren't Championship material." But now that he is champion Vince has already lost interest and the other McMahon's are occupied with other Roman-related matters.

Because people are fickle and wrestling fans show an incredible level of bipolarity and haven’t even let him have his first Pay Per View title defense yet before deeming him a failure and his title won a lost cause. You wanted this. Let everything settle in and let him try to get in a good groove and let this freaking Kevin Owens feud really get going first. Jesus.

Its a fresh change of pace to not have the generic serious baby face who takes on all comers or the slimy heel that wants to wriggle out of defenses.

Because it was forced and Kofi doesn't deserve it.

Big E getting injured hasn't helped things.

I'm not saying I don't want him to be champion, I think it's a cool and fresh thing to do. But he has been telling the same promo for months and doesn't act like he is "the man". It feels like he's playing dress up in his dad's clothes. He has a rapport with fans, so there shouldn't be a problem with getting crowd response but he hasn't adapted to being champion. If he weren't wearing the belt, you wouldn't realize he was the kayfabe top guy in the company right now. He doesn't seem to even be in the top 10 right now in my opinion. Think of when Edge, Rollins, or even Orton won their first world title, you knew that their careers were forever changed. When Orton won his WHC, it didnt really feel like he was champion, but at least he had a lot of confidence and stepped up his game, especially against Triple H as a challenger. With Kofi, it's just more of the same, and I don't see much development.

His title reign only started a little over a month ago and so far it's been good to me. People need to be patient and actually give things time. And Kofi doesn't need to be the super serious babyface champion. Kofi got to where he was being the same as he's been since The New Day started. People seem to forget that although the New Day are the happy and fun babyfaces, they can get serious when it's time to get serious. It's been seen before in their previous feuds and it's the same case with the Kevin Owens & Kofi feud. Not everyone needs to drastically change once they become champion. What brought Kofi to the race is what's working for him now.

To me it just felt rushed. It's like it was a consolation prize- here fight a bunch of unfair matches for sympathy to have a title you should have been given years ago so the fans won't be mad. I think he does deserve the title but I think they could have done a better story that feels a little less 'here you go'.

Kurt Angle, my favorite wrestler of all time, was goofier than Kofi is now the first time he won the title.
He won the title from Bryan clean at Mania. He beat him clean again in the rematch. If he doesn’t feel like champion to you, it’s on you.
Other notable funny/goofy champions: The Rock, Mick Foley, HBK, King Booker, Cena.

I hope Kevin Owens breaks Kofi this Sunday, ends the Kofi Experience, and that is the last time we see Kofi Kingston as WWE Champion. He can go back to throwing pancakes into the crowd and say, "Who?? Whoo?? Whooo??" to the fans when they question something.

I must agree. I’m glad he’s had his moment but I need Owens to step it up a gear now and take the title.

IT'S BEEN 5 WEEKS, and he hasn't had an actual title Defense. He had the rematch with Bryan last week on Raw, and the Triple Threat the next night on Smackdown.

IT'S BEEN 5 WEEKS, and he hasn't had an actual title Defense. He had the rematch with Bryan last week on Raw, and the Triple Threat the next night on Smackdown. And the match with Rollins literally the night after Mania. Obviously neither man was going to lose that match, but it was a good one.

he's a transition champion who's going to keep the belt a little longer than he should, much like Jinder did. Both guys now have a great hook for convention signings when they are both retired.

I’ve enjoyed Kofi’s reign so far to be honest. That week with him defending it back-to-back nights against Bryan and Styles/Zayn really worked for me. He’s still going to be goofy at times, but when he gets serious he means business.
