Perfect: O just let him talk Vince... Flair: Woooo! Sting! You and I go way back, in all our wars and battles Sting, you know that there is only one World Champion baby... Sting: (laughs) Look what I have here, the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt. There is no greater title, no greater achievement in professional wrestling than this. Flair: Everyone knows that I am the Real World Champion! This is why to prove it once and for all who the Real World Champion is, put the gold on the line Sting! Sting: Flair, I just don't trust you or your henchmen like that executive consultant and the Weasel sitting there laughing...I mean look how you handled Sgt. Slaughter, look how you got away with confrontation when it came to the Undertaker. You don't exactly give everyone a fair match... Flair: Fair? I don't know what you're talking about there Sting, but everyone knows that I am the Nature Boy, and if you won't give me a title shot, than I'll get it myself I'll go straight to Jack Tunney and he'll give it to me because he knows it the whole world knows it baby I am a jet-flying kiss stealing son of a gun. Sting: Oh we'll see about that. Flair: You're afraid Sting! You know about our war in the past, and you're afraid that your 15 minutes of fame in the WWF will be over! Sting: I got nothing more to say to you Nature Boy... Flair: Look all of you at home, look at your coward champion! Prime Time Wrestling June 15th, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon, Slick, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and Mr. Perfect "It has come to my attention that Ric Flair has appealed to the World Wrestling Federation to recognize his Real World Championship belt, and to compete as the No. 1 contender for the WWF Championship. It must be made clear to Mr. Flair as I have said before, that his Real World Championship belt is not recognized by the World Wrestling Federation or recognized overseas. However if he wishes to put the belt on the line he may, however the WWF will not recognize it. As for his title shot against Sting, Ric Flair is not the No.1 Contender at this time. The No. 1 Contender for the WWF Championship currently standing if he wishes for it, is the Ultimate Warrior. Thank you."Mr. Perfect (back to panelists): What kind of low life is Jack Tunney deciding that Ric Flair isn't the No. 1 Contender? Heenan: I bet you that Jack Tunney doesn't like Flair because he is the Real World Champion, he is and should be recognized. And what exactly has the Ultimate Warrior done so far? Vince: Well he is a former WWF Champion... Heenan: So what does that matter? The Warrior was gone for half a year, and so one day he decides to show up at Wrestlemania and gets to be the No. 1 Contender? And I believe he has his hands full haven't you seen how sick and ill he has been? (Highlights shown of Papa Shango putting "voodoo" spells on Warrior). You see that? Warrior is ill he can't be No. 1 Contender. Jack Tunney you listen here I'm going to fight tooth and nail to get Ric Flair his title shot, the shot he deserves. The Undertaker vs. Dan Robbins

Prime Time Wrestling June 29th, 1992 Hosts: Vince McMahon, Slick, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and Mr. PerfectVince: We have yet to hear from the Ultimate Warrior whether he wishes to challenge for the WWF Championship, and speaking of the WWF Championship, let's take a look at a match in progress with Sting defending his title against Papa Shango. Sting (c) vs. Papa Shango for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship
The match was in-progress as both Sting and Shango get in some holds. Papa Shango is working on the back of Sting, Sting is hurt till he counters Shango by throwing him over the ropes from an irish whip. Sting jumps to the corner for a diving plancha and misses! Shango starts an "enchantment" and Sting's right leg doesn't work! He can't get back up and the match is over. Winner: Papa Shango via countout
Sting gets interviewed by Mean Gene by ringside as Sting looks alright and is ready to go to the back. Gene: Stinger it looks like you had trouble getting back in the ring. Sting: I'm not sure what that was, but I felt as though something was grabbing my leg. This is all weird. Shango comes back out and starts with another enchantment, and Sting says some gibberish till the Ultimate Warrior runs out and attacks Shango! Warrior is getting his revenge as Sting doesn't look good and is sent to the back to be checked up by a medical team. Heenan (back to panelists): There must be something going on in the air, Sting doesn't look good. I think he aught to give up the WWF title. Gorilla: Give me a break, there is no way he's going to give it up. Whatever it is Papa Shango is doing well looks like the Warrior got a little revenge and saved Sting. Later in the show they announce that Sting is better and has been cleared, with no signs of anything wrong with him. Vince plays it off as something mysterious. Bret Hart vs. Bob Bradley

WWF Champion Sting shows up at the beginning of the show as a guest panelist for Prime Time Wrestling. Sting talks about how great it has been in the WWF and for someone who has only been in the WWF for over a year, he has accomplished great things. Heenan and Perfect whisper to each other and laugh, pretending they aren't talking about Sting when they clearly are and they continue to verbally harass Sting during the show. Vince: Speaking of the WWF Championship, the Ultimate Warrior is standing by with his answer to President Jack Tunney who has offered him a World title shot. Warrior: My little Warriors have long awaited for us to return to the glory of our past but my warriors all know that the only way to achieve greatness is depose of evil! A great evil has entered the WWF and he must perish as a raindrop in the desert as for Sting, a new force recokons the WWF like we've never seen before and I know for one that our paths are different and will remain different for you take glory among the mortals and I take glory in the heavens above! I humbly decline Jack Tunney for I want the one they call Papa Shango! Vince: Well there we go folks, the Ultimate Warrior has decline the offer to become WWF Champion, it seems he is set on a different path to rid of the world as what he calls evil. Heenan: (excitedly) This is great news, everyone knows the real No. 1 Contender is none other than Ric Flair. Vince: I don't know about that it remains to be seen! Perfect: Come on Sting why wait, give Ric Flair the title shot he deserves. Sting: I got nothing to say to the likes of you. Perfect: (laughs) You're chicken, you know that Ric Flair can beat you. He's the one guy who can, and... Sting nearly flips over the table, Heenan nearly runs off and Sting gets in Perfect's face. Vince: Gentlemen please not here we have a show to run. Perfect: O I would like to see you try... Sting: You're a real piece of work. Sting turns his back till Perfect grabs his briefcase he had underneath the table and wacks it over Sting's back! Sting feels it but starts to get angry and grabs Perfect till Heenan begs Sting not to hurt him. Sting starts slapping Perfect, Heenan gets in the middle and Sting grabs Heenan shoving him to the ground. Sting punches in the "steel" briefcase as it makes a dent. Sting: Don't push me (Perfect begs) Don't you dare, I'm outta here (throws the briefcase to the wall and leaves) Gorilla: I can't believe to two of you would do this... A clean win by Ric Flair who manages to lock in the figure-four and kept it on for three straight minutes till Savage passes out. Later in the show Mean Gene interviews Flair with Mr. Perfect on stage: Gene: I must say I'm impressed with your victory earlier tonight... Flair: Woooo! I made Savage submit right in the middle of the ring! Savage has never submitted in his life! Sting, you should be shaking in your boots because this jet-flying, limousine riding, kiss stealing, rolex wearing son of a gun is ready to take the WWF Championship Woooo! Perfect: You can bet on it with all your fortunes because Ric Flair is going to walk out of SummerSlam the new World Wrestling Federation Champion. Suddenly Sting comes out with the WWF title. Gene: Sting I wasn't expecting you out here... Sting: I've got something to say, I ain't afraid of you (Flair) or your baboon of a consultant but I will say that you gave Randy Savage a fair chance in the ring and that's all I want. A fair chance, no interruptions, no interference. Just you and me face to face. Forget Japan, forget the past, let's end this once and for all in a WWF ring. Flair: Sting you've got a lot of nerve showing up here, all I wanted was a title shot and it took too long to get one. But now that I have it, at SummerSlam your fears of the Nature Boy will be your undoing Woooo!! Sting: We'll see about that. As they were confronting each other, Mr. Perfect slowly left the stage and grabbed a chair and smashes Sting's back! Flair grabs the chair and smashes it over Sting's back again. Heenan: What's the old saying Vince? A referee's decision is final? Ya you heard it Ric Flair is the new WWF Champion he did it! Perfect: It's the perfect revenge I say, Sting disgraced the Real World Championship belt by destroying it, and now Flair has the WWF Championship. He truly is the Real World Champion. Where are you Jack Tunney why won't you say anything? I'm outta here (Duggan leaves the panel in protest) Hillbilly Jim: You know I second that, how can we as performers stand to watch one of our own be taken down by a bunch of gangster punks. Is this what your Nature Boy is about? He used a referee and that should've been a DQ. Heenan: (laughs) It doesn't matter, Ric Flair is the champion. Sting (Steve Borden) Shoot Interview: Q: So it was September 1st if I recall when the actual match happened but was taped for September 12th, you would drop the strap to Ric Flair. Even though without Hulk Hogan you did your best to keep the WWF afloat despite wrestling being in a decline overall, you did all this business and now Vince tells you to drop the title, why? Weren't you the top draw?I was I was...and I was caught by surprise when Vince told me to drop it, but I understood why. Ric Flair was the man, and I would've done it in a heartbeat if Vince had given me some time so we could work it out and come up with a good way for me to drop the strap. Q: But why drop it so quickly I mean why not at SummerSlam instead?I can't say for sure, there was some politics in the back. To some of the boys I was still a newcomer who made it to the top so quickly. You still had top guys like Savage and Warrior around not main eventing and some felt they were "their" guys, while I was the "other" guy. On the other hand Vince felt that he still needed more time with me, and wanted to rebuild me. He had this long-term plan for me and gave me the bigger picture and I was fine with it. Q: Were you satisfied with how the match went down?I believe it was the best way to keep me still strong in the eyes of the fans. I also believe that Flair needed the championship, it only made sense he had been there for about a year and expected nothing better than high profile matches and the championship would've been under his radar. I'm happy I did it, but it would've been better on a PPV instead of losing the title at a house show. It just brought me back memories of losing the NWA World title to Flair at a house show in 1991. Q: Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer that you were considering to move to WCW, was that true?I actually did call up Jim Herd about coming back even though I left him...not on the greatest terms... I wanted to keep that option open in case Vince didn't follow through with his plan for me. Vince did find out that I made the call and started to freak out like why was I calling him. He didn't like it, I think he wanted to punish me for making that call. My contract was unique in that it was open, I had the option to part ways, but I didn't do it. I wanted to work harder than ever to prove myself so I reassured Vince I wasn't leaving .
