I love the nonstop complaining and crying over this Harley Race figure. If you wanted it so bad you would have purchased it off of eBay. Obviously the prices are ridiculous right now but you should have bought it when it was first released. I purchased it for $70 off of eBay when it was first released and I do not regret it. Sorry you all waited, knowing you would most likely never find it in stores, and now it is out of everyone’s price range. I hate these store exclusives but I am an avid collector and I’ve accepted that if I want it I’ll pay to get it. I’m not going to wait hours driving back and forth with nothing to show for it. I got lucky once with a Pete Dunne but that’s the only one. I’ve purchased every other exclusive for higher than store value. Either pay more or don’t. But stop complaining. At the end of the day it’s a toy. No one NEEDS them. Well, playing devil's advocate here, but I also remember quite a few people very confidently and nonstop saying that Harley would be super easy to find and would pegwarm once the distribution centers released the stock, once it hit Big Lots and 5 Under, once Mattel sent it to Ringside, once those good ol' truck drivin' uncles got on the CB, blah blah blah. You'd be CRAZY to get it at scalper prices right now, and will feel real stupid when you walk past whole ROWS of the guy!  I was super lucky to find Harley ONCE at retail. Backlund and Sherri? Never saw either. Since I missed the WWE shop having him, I waited until each dipped to 45-50 on the bay and got them. Even got to pick a Sherri with facepaint that wasn't lopsided. Here's hoping Muraco isn't another Harley. But even my crapty backwater area got at least one of each of Fan Central 2 and the Survivor Series elites last year, so I hope this one follows suit. I think I'll have an easier time of finding him than Pat. |

This is only an issue for the peeps that have to have every figure mattel releases, the second they release it.
I doubt there's that many Pat Patterson die-hards out there.
The frenzy of something *new* and serious FoMo (fear of missing out)
If there's a huge demand, Mattel will definitely re-up with another version of said star. Pete Dunne is getting another Elite. You can bet that Aleister Black will get another version in the Elite line as well *WITH FIXED HEIGHT OMG* Just have an iota of patience.
When CE Bob Backlund first came out, it was all over ebay for $50 and $60... so glad I didn't pop on it. My local Walmart has 2 of them hanging on discount for $11 now. Another good example was the TRU Fan Central line. When that first came out, the Triple H was doing gangbusters on eBay. Now... Walmart has a purple version in the Wrestlemania 35 line that they can't get rid of. Lo and behold RSC has the Fan Central version now too. Imagine that.
This is why Mattel is playing it super safe on these exclusives. They're not a sure fire bet, and if the stores can't move them... that's a bad deal. What kid knows who Bob Backlund is? Why would Mattel make a million Pat Pattersons? Basic business here, folks. Some of you are going full Pepe Silvia on Mattel and these stores, and the answers are pretty simple. There's absolutely nothing wrong with limited and rare figures. Cool facet to the hobby. Always fun to hunt for. No skin off my back if I never find them. And it's true, if this figure is so important to your collection, you'll pay the secondary market premium. The rarity and demand create the cost. If it's that important... you do have options.

I've never bought something I didn't intend to buy after checking a Target for figures. If they don't have the exclusive figure I'm looking for, I walk right back out the door with no purchase. Exactly. I got tired of the frustration -- and I'm not going to buy some crap at Target or Walmart for no reason. I'm pretty sure I'll never find Patterson at Wall-Mart with the way they stock. Plus, I know there are a bunch of collectors on here in western PA that hunt way more avidly and successfully than I do. I have a job, a second job and three kids so the only time I can really hunt is lunch time, lol. So, it is pay double of what it's worth online or just don't buy it -- and that is a hard pill to swallow sometimes. |

No way I'm paying nearly $100 for a figure that will most likely be in stores within a matter of weeks.
This reminds me of the Red Rooster guy who was trying to sell them for like $600, claiming they were unreleased figures, lol.

I'm hoping he's packed in a lot of shippers like Backlund where it was easy to find. The target exclusive have honestly been much worse but that's because Target has become crap for toys the past two years.

Without a doubt, there are people in this hobby that are truly scummy and pathetic.
However, this one won't be too hard to find ... overall, but certain areas like mine that hardly even get even mass flooding stuff will make these type of exclusive figures a little bit harder to get.

Seen a couple of pics on Twitter of people finding him so Wal-Mart maybe putting stuff out again. Saw the summerslam basic line yesterday at one so I am starting to get hopeful new stuff is coming.
