That joke would have been funny back in 1985. But whatever. People get so butthurt over everything. I still stand with Cornette. Take race out of it completely, and ask would it honestly have ever been funny? It's not even a joke I'd have exhaled air out of my nose at a slightly higher velocity than normal for, let alone actually laugh. I love dark humor. I'm all for it. I have no problem with jokes that go over the line...but this wasn't it. I don't know Cornette, so obviously I can't say whether or not the dude is racist, and I really don't think he meant the joke to sound racially insensitive, it was just a crapty attempt at a homespun JRism and it fell flat. I would have just let out a "heh" like a hiccup back then and I just half rolled my eyes when I heard it because it was so lame.

I kind of like how over Question Mark is getting.
I will laugh my ass off if he gets unmasked, the fans boo, he puts the mask back on, & they start cheering again.

Kind of sad since I thought Cornette was doing a good job on the show. He is really one of the last guys of that era who is still around. Also I really like the sound of his voice and the way he speaks. Anyway it is how it is.
Who do you guys think will replace him?
The only appropriate name that comes to my mind is Taz. He really evolved as a commentator since his Smackdown days. What is he doing at the moment? Is he available? Another possibility would be Mike Tenay, who might be able to give NWA Powerrr the same oldschool vibe Cornette did. Third option would be Matt Striker for me. He did a solid job on Lucha Underground. He is a relatively young commentator with knowledge and his voice is still „fresh“. Thinking about it, Striker would even be my favorite choice. 3 months earlier Jerry Lawler would have been my choice.
Who would you guys like to hear?

I thought David Crockett would be good. Then I wanted to slap myself for thinking that. Taz would be awesome.

The Ascension worked well as a tag team. It's a shame WWE turned them into a joke. NWA could probably use a few more tag teams.

Couldn’t see a thread for last night, but what’s everyone’s thoughts? Didn't get to see it, but I'm glad of 3 things: Colt Cabana lost. Good. ODB was in it. Great! They are bringing back the red-strapped NWA TV Title. F*ck yeah!

Thunder Rosa was clear MOTN for me. Loved it. Question mark is freaking hilarious and I loved the National anthem. Hope it becomes a regular thing. That flag could sell. Marty showing up left me so conflicted. I was sooooo glad he didn't go the WWE route, and while this far from closed the AEW door, it likely delayed it to do the Aldis feud through January. Perhaps it'll line up with flip/King leaving ROH, I don't know their contact status.
Good show overall. Glad I got it for the early bird price, well worth that, but would have been too much at full cost

His intro music is legit the reason I would be crushed if he only did NWA. I would be so sad seeing him every week without the whoop whoop. That pop was so crazy.

There is something apart the lighting / colours of NWA that give it that crisp and clear HD feel that some other ‘non-WWE’ promotions don’t have.

It's definitely "aesthetically pleasing", I'll give you that. I like the simplicity of the product. It's something you don't see in a lot of wrestling today. Sometimes, less is definitely more.

Cornette issue is ridiculous. it’s a youtube show, meanwhile married with children reruns air. I really don't want to derail this thread too much, but I can't not add to this. Let's assume that what Cornette said was the worst thing ever said in professional wrestling, had malicious intent, etc, etc. Basically, let's create a scenario where Cornette is 100% the villain here and was trying to insult an entire race. It's. A. Taped. Show. Not just a youtube show, a taped youtube show. Meaning their editors had ages to go through it, they heard the joke multiple times, and it passed every single time. They had zero problems with it, until the public had a problem with it. Then, rather than really owning what was their mistake, they threw Jim completely under the bus. Their company apology was laughable, since it didn't actually address their role in it.

Fallout episode after Into the Fire was fantastic. Very little actual wrestling being so close to PPV in filming, but a ton of great builds. I was in tears during the 3rd degree title belt rant.

I liked the appearance of Nikita Koloff. I'd like to see more NWA/JCP alumni in the future. JJ Dillon, Baby Doll, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Manny Fernandez, Magnum TA, etc. I was hoping AEW would share talent with them.

I marked out when I saw Murdoch win by using the Indian Death Lock. I haven't seen anyone use it in years!
