After Bret Hart returned, I’ll just go with never say never. I’ll just believe it when I see it.
Right now Punk has FOX backing him. If he proves to be a draw and help backstages audience, and then he eventually decides he’d like an in ring return, having FOX in his corner will be huge for negotiations. I think one of his demands will be a WM main event (it’s the one thing he has constantly stated he didn’t achieve), and if FOX backs him on this, I think it’ll become a reality at some point.

'Right now I have a very small inner circle of friends.' Ah man, they just gotta plunge the knife in further for AEW fans.😉 lol

I have a gut feeling that tonight he will make it fully understandable that he will not ever be back as a wrestler in any way. Hope I'm wrong, but it's just the feeling that I get. Vince’s wallet says otherwise.

I thought he was entertaining. The Tom Arnold promo was funny. If he doesn’t wrestle again I won’t be mad about it, he seems much more relaxed and healthier.

I feel like everything he said last night was sincere. I doubt he was working us when he said that he does not have a relationship with WWE. Sounds like we're a long way from that relationship being mended.
It's just nice to see him having fun and burying the god awful McMahon/Dunn crap.

Liked the Punk parts, tough to sit through the whole hour show though.

Judging by his comments, there's obviously some interest on Punk's part. And I don't see why WWE wouldn't be interested. So I think it'd be best for Vince/Hunter/Heyman/Punk to sit in a room to talk things over a bit. Maybe give Heyman creative control of a return story since him and Punk are so close.
I also could see Fox paying part of Punk's salary to have him boost the ratings for SD.

I've not watched the whole thing, but Punk asking Renee who her favourite member of the Shield was had me laughing pretty hard.

With that said, I firmly believe now Vince is going to open up the checkbook with a ludicrous offer and bend over backwards to get Punk back on HIS show in any way possible. The amount of buzz Punks return got for a FOX show was insane and Vince cant not see it. Vince is about business and if Punk is bringing eyes onto the FS1 show, Vince wants a piece of that pie. Will Punk agree to anything? Who knows. But judging from his comments, the butterflies are there and the door is cracked open a bit. Punk said that its a bridge that has to be built, well FOX is currently laying down the groundwork as we speak.

Bret Hart came back to WWE. Ultimate Warrior came back to WWE. The Streak Ended. Sting came to WWE and had matches. CM Punk is on a WWE show in 2019. I think we've all learned to never say never. If anyone is watching WWE.com and WWE social media....it seems like they are planting seeds for a CM Punk/Seth Rollins match. I don't think they would have dedicated a segment on WWE Backstage to Punk/Seth Tweets, or written an article about it on WWE.com if there was nothing being internally discussed. If you do that, you get everyone riled up for something you can't deliver. www.wwe.com/article/seth-rollins-responds-cm-punk-wwe-backstage

Unless they give us another Lesnar-Rollins match at Mania or earlier, there isn't much uncharted territory for Rollins to face a full-timer standing on Seth's level. Plus if Seth is working this without Punk and WWE's approval, he'd be playing a tough guy for his own sake. Very weak sauce.

I really enjoyed some unfiltered analysis of the product for a change. I watched a few of these shows without Punk and it's obvious how they can't/won't be critical of anything because they are employed with WWE.
It's nice to have Punk back with the freedom to be himself, because that is when he is at his best. Maybe some of his criticism will actually help the product too, because I thought a lot of what he said was spot on.

Has anybody been watching WWE Backstage since CM Punk returned? I saw a clip where Punk is discussing with Corbin how Vince had Corbin use real dog food in some skit on Raw... ...I get kayfabe is dead x10,, but seeing wrestlers on a wwe affiliated program breaking character to essentially shoot on the scenario? I don’t see what it serves. I also don’t dig Punk doing the show, imo it damages his return after already damaging his name value in UFC. just watered his inevitable return down. that’s just my take as a fan. if he’s happy, more power to him.

Pretty sure I've caught the videos for everything he's done so far. In large part, the videos all have real clickbaity headlines but he's giving criticism I feel most of us acknowledge or would give ourselves. Not too dissimilar to Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack. Difference being kayfabe is totally dead on this show. Punk gives some cool insight when he drops experience into the conversation. I thought it was interesting to hear him talk about the Chavo two out of three falls match. I'll continue to seek out the videos and make an effort to keep up with his stuff.
That aside, you can tell he still has that sparkle on the end of his tongue. No pause, no hesitation, no filter from brain to mouth. He's magic with a microphone. The best ever since Roddy Piper imo. He's really leaned into Seth Rollins. To circle back to Bryan on Talking Smack, I think they could build a similar feud between Punk and Rollins the way they did Miz and Bryan. Not specifically knowing if the match was going to happen but let Rollins chirp at Punk on Twitter, and Punk will naturally bury Rollins on the show.
Unless they're going to do that match with Austin. I mean that's always been the dream. Kind of getting to be the last chance with Steve, and I'm not sure Punk can angle the straight edge thing against Austin in 2019 the way he could've from 09-13. Still though, Punk vs Austin is the biggest match WWE can put together imo. I would love to see Punk and Brock together again, though. So there are a few matches I think Punk could have that put him at the top of the card where he belongs. I honestly wouldn't be against Punk winning the title and then telling the story of John Cena chasing number 17. That's probably a story one year away but man would it be a good one. Cena beating Flair is inevitable. Punk is his best opponent. That's a story that defines a decade for me.
