Top to bottom this was a good show. The women's division is still the glaring weak spot - Statlander has potential, but is very green. Nyla is something like a 7 or 8 year veteran and looks green as grass. When your gimmick is being a power hoss and you struggle to execute power moves, it's not good. Let's call is Nia Jax syndrome. That match would have fit in better at some Bar Wrestling show with 250 people than a major PPV.
The rest of the card more than makes up for it. But they really need to figure something out with the women, because that's one area where they are miles behind WWE, NXT, and Impact.

This is how you put on a PPV. Whether it’s a regular PPV, a Big 4, or a Saudi event, AEW just out to shame anything the WWE has done in the past year IMO. I think the biggest different in the storytelling. There were various stories being told in the majority of the matches and they kept fans interested
Moxley and Jericho didn’t need an “Ambrose Asylum” gimmick to get fans interested. Hangman, Omega, and the Bucks didn’t need dog food to be the center of their feud or match. Cody/MJF didn’t need to make fun of someone’s size to get people buzzing. The stories to me are what AEW is killing in right now.

I usually just stay quiet on female wrestling, because while I 100% have no issue with them wrestling or there being fans of that and thinks it’s great, I’m simply not the biggest fan...but that match last night had some seriously dangerous moments. that superplex botch could’ve been very serious, and the finish powerbomb off the turnbuckle was a stiff bump since statlander couldn’t get into position.

Had a viewing party and I literally said the same thing. If you are unsure about doing a move THEN DON'T DO IT. Instead of that dangerous top rope powerbomb she almost botched, a huge splash would've sufficed and been just as devastating since she's such a big person. I've never been high on Nyla Rose's ringwork especially when you have people like Big Swole on the roster who can work really good matches. Given the right story too, she could be super over.

We used to see Nyla all the time on the New Jersey and PA indies and she was always awful, couldn’t get through a match without botching multiple moves. When they annouced they signed her my buddy immediately text me, because at those shows she was always so awful. Yet someone like Sonny Kiss who was always entertaining and on those same shows can’t even get on the tv shows.

I give them a somewhat of a pass for the womens stuff right now, its just a fact that the talent pool for womens wrestlers especially on the indies is so small. They're going to have to take someone like a Statlander and mold them. The match last night was sub par but as long as they continue to grow they will get there eventually.

Good show last night and the tag team bout might be the best match so far in AEW.As just about everyone is saying the Cody neck tattoo is horrible in terms of placing, cool looking tattoo but just in such a terrible spot.Him coming out with it real took me out of his match with MJF,going to take time getting use to it.
Not a huge fan of taking the belt of Jericho and Moxley to me with his type of character isn't a long term world champion type character or a guy I want as the spokes men of my company. With that said he should get a decent run with the belt going over the likes of the rest of the Inner Circle and a few other heels like PAC in title bout before losing the title and his streak to MJF.
Biggest weakness in AEW is clearly the women's division which is terrible, not as bad as ROH but pretty close. They have no storylines really for the division and most can't cut a promo and even more worrisome when it comes to the actually in ring match ups have been filled with botches and poorly layed out matches. This really falls on the shoulders of Omega & Brandi who are suppose to be the driving force of the division behind the scenes.Just don't have the talent or depth right now to pull off a division for the women, which sadly most companies don't.In terms of women's wrestling WWE is clearly better at it then AEW and any other promotion going to date.

Obviously a lot of the bigger chips are off the board (Tessa, Jordynne Grace, not sure what Tenille's status is, plus the talent WWE has locked up). But there are/were workers available who would be a major boost either in character work or in-ring over some of their existing roster. Mercedes Martinez, Shotzi Blackheart and Candy Floss were both available before signing with NXT, as was Session Moth Martina before signing with ROH. Kelly Klein is available, and I believe Killer Kelly left NXT UK, or at least is not exclusive. Jazzy Gabert would be a much better hoss for the division. Laura DiMateo, Millie McKenzie, Charli Evans, and other EVE talent are available. And there are quite a few Japanese women who would benefit the roster, and that talent pool will likely be picked clean when NXT Japan launches. Even some TNA/NXT rehashes like Kimber Lee or Taeler Hendrix would bring some workers with experience working on tv. They can certainly develop talent. I think that's what they're doing with Sadie Gibbs, who has barely been on tv. Statlander has a lot of potential, and in an ideal world she'd probably get Rhea Ripley treatment and get a couple years to develop out of the spotlight. But with talent out there, there is no good reason why we have to sit through sloppy matches from Britt Baker and Nyla Rose on a weekly basis on national tv, let along a major PPV event. 6 months ago I was in the "let give them some time" camp. But last night was sort of the last straw for me on the women's division. It's just such a glaring outlier compared to the rest of the product.

I’m hoping it’s kinda like Lex taking the belt off Hogan. a feel good win, but only temporarily. then we get the sting/hogan level build in Jericho’s next feud. but hey, who knows.

Great show from start to finish. This was the first AEW show I've watched, and it was so refreshing to have a near 4-hour show of just wrestling.

I would have had Moxley get screwed out of the match this first time around and win it in a rematch, too early in my opinion. I don’t think people were begging for it yet.

There are some interviews and segments to advance storylines, but the focus is on the matches. And the matches usually have enough time to tell a story, instead of sped up "tv matches." Last week's episode had an amazing 30 minute Iron Man match to open the show.

bty Uncle Dave just called the Page/Omega Vs Young Buck match the greatest tag team match in North American history ? It was a great match but god damn that's and overstatement of the year so far.

I don't hate the change, but I also don't feel like it needed to happen on this show. It'll be interesting to see how they handle what comes next - is there a rematch clause? does the feud continue? or will this be the WWE approach where things just abruptly end and suddenly both guys move on like nothing happened and they didn't just spend months in a blood feud? I'm guessing it won't be the latter.
