It's crazy to think that he was a former IC Champion and 2 time Tag Champion with that company....

dude just doesn’t fit the mold for wwe and that’s the blunt truth of it. I think a nwa run as others mentioned would be best suited for him.

Sucks to hear. He was a good worker. I was in attendance the night he won the Intercontinental Championship. It was a great moment to witness live.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he asked to be released. Hope for good stuff for him.

Average worker that never seemed to get going, even when he was IC champ, etc.

I think he got a bad hand from the start by being on the old format of NXT. I have respect for him for always putting in effort for the roles he was given. The Paul Heyman guy angle on paper was a good idea but the execution wound up working against him. Brock and Punk were too hot and outshined him, leaving Axel looking like just a background character.

I actually thought his best use was in Rybaxel, being put with Ryback to teach him how to work. Thought their work was underrated.

I wonder where he's gonna go and let down his family name elsewhere?

I wonder where he's gonna go and let down his family name elsewhere? yikes, that’s not nice. pretty hard to live up to someone who was regarded as ‘perfect’, figuratively or not. I think Larry the Ax would be quite happy with his grandson!

Considering he was an average worker and spent most of his career as a job guy, he did well for himself.
Think about this. He had a 10 year career in WWE. At one point, he was Intercontinental champion for 5 months. He was a two-time tag team champion.
Also considering he was not half the worker or performer his father was, that's a pretty good career IMO. Mr. Perfect was never a world champion in any major promotion. He definitely had the talent he could've been one. Curtis Axel got a 10-year gig with WWE. Held multiple titles. Got to be a player on TV now and again. He never seemed super ambitious. Not everyone can become a Daniel Bryan-esque success story. Sometimes you are going to have guys who just stay mid-level. But you know considering he was just a midcarder and mid-level guy at best his entire career...he did fairly OK.

I wonder where he's gonna go and let down his family name elsewhere? What a s**t thing to say. Considering he was signed for 13 years, was a good, safe & reliable worker, and won a few championships. I'd say he did pretty well for himself & his heritage given the fact that charisma was his biggest struggle, and he was always compared & expected to live up to his dad. I'm sure both Larry & Curt would be proud of what he's done so far, and what he'll continue to do with the family name.

I think he tried his best in WWE. The B Team were an entertaining tag team.

He had a good run, considering he had zero superstar presence. He always seemed to work hard, never seemed comfortable projecting any kind of character though. The sad thing is he probably would’ve had a better chance of doing well somewhere else if he’d been released several years ago. He seems pretty old now.
I think whoever suggested him as a coach somewhere (eventually back at the PC) might have been on the right track.
