I liked the 1996 version of the Four Horsemen. They had the future main eventer in Chris Benoit and big muscle guy in Steve McMichael. It's too bad Arn Anderson had a career ending injury.

i wish henning woulda stayed on as a horseman for awhile. That would have been great. He fit well in that group. I felt like he was overlooked in NWO.

Mongo was such a character that he didn't really need the Four Horsemen to be honest. I never felt he fit that group. Ric Flair has stated many times that Mongo was perfect Horsemen material, but I am not sure how that is??
I would pick Flair, Anderson, Benoit and Pillman, and Flair, Anderson, Benoit and Malenko over that Mongo version.

I wonder how Eddie Guerrero would have done in the group with his personality. Brian Pillman was great on his own.

Other than Benoit I wasn’t a fan of that time period of the faction. Malenko was good but not Horseman level. And I never got on board with Mongo.

Mongo's US Title run in 97 still leaves a bad taste in my mouth all these years later. Terrible. Glad Hennig was the one to beat em for it.
I do wish the Flair,Arn,Benoit and Pillman version had a longer run.

Hennig in the 4H was never going to happen. Like everyone else? He wanted to be n the nWo & his 4H run was only ever a setup.
The 4H for me never had any meaning after the Flair,AA, Windham & Sid version. That was the last time I cared about the faction Roma, Malenko, Mongo, Pillman? none of them were 4H material for me....awful pity about Tullys WWF exit and WCW re-entry in 89.

Mongo was a horrible Horseman and I wasnt a fan, but I think that was the only idea WCW had for him. Look at how he floundered in late 97-1998.

Steve McMichael just needed some time at the WCW Power Plant. He had the look to be in the big muscle guy position.

It’s unpopular around here,..but I like mongo. I liked Jarrett and mongo And then I liked Benoit and mongo I liked mongos us title run I liked Debra too
Hennig is just something else altogether for me... My favorite wrestler of all time so in my eyes he could do no wrong. Heel or face, horsemen or nwo.. I loved it. I can’t say that for any other wrestler.

Really, as long as you had Flair & Arn you could put anyone in there and have the Horsemen. Those two were the back bone. Once Arn had to retire the faction was pretty much useless.
I still wish there would have been a Mega Horsemen faction to be the ones to end the nWo storyline. Something like Flair, Luger & Steiners w/Arn in the JJ/Ole role to finally finish off the black & white. Then Nash could do his wolfpac deal, Hogan back to red & yellow and the nWo storyline have a legit finish.

The variations of the Four Horseman during this time period was a nostalgia cash grab.
I pose this question, who would you rather see in the Horseman, Paul Roma or Steve McMichael?

Jim Cornette said in his latest podcast that in 1990 there were plans of putting Eaton and Lane with Arn and Flair to be the Horsemen. Jim Herd nixed the idea. I don’t know if they would last until 96, but that would have been a great version of the group that would have lasted awhile.

I have never really been a fan of Paul Roma anyway. He did good with Paul Orndorff as a tag team. I'll take Steve McMichael over him as a member of the Four Horsemen. I also liked them going up against the NWO.
