Ok at least we're getting an exclamation for the best friends thing. #1 contender means you get your shot at the big event on a big stage. I can live with that. Very well said. Tony’s shown that he doesn’t hand wave stuff like that.

I think an open invitational/frequent title defense angle for the TNT title is a bad idea. I think the invantional angle for title defenses is more meaningful when the belt has more of a history/merit. remember when cena got the US title and it meant nothing and he did an invitational, and it was one of the first things almost everyone enjoyed that cena had done in years, and then kevin owens had a fantastic debut winning it and it mattered? that's what cody is about to ideally do for the tnt title, or at least that's the thinking behind it. I'm definitely not opposed to invitational angles in general. I was a big fan of the Cena/US title one and even Kurt Angle's invitational for the gold medal. To me I just don't see a brand new title that only has had one person holding it worthy of an open invitational. Even if at the time angle wise nobody cared about the U.S title, it was still a title with so much history behind it. So by default, it had merit alone to draw interest. That being said, at least we know it just won't be an accessory for Cody.

He’s not exactly a great work-rate guy.

That being said, at least we know it just won't be an accessory for Cody. More money, guaranteed tv time, things like that. It being named after the station makes that a layup. Even if they could put that over on commentary it would explain why guys would be vying for that invitational challenge. Helps make the title and adds more stakes to the matchups
