Zombie’s figures get delayed because changes are made to figures or accessories or packaging in China to make them better. Epic figures get delayed because they haven’t even been started yet. Huge difference. Zombie is already working on multiple series ahead and his pre-order Model will go away and/or waits will be much much less. We finally just saw pics of Haku and bwo being worked on. What took so long? What about all the other figs? Correct, Epics were delayed because they hadn’t been started when the takeover happened. It is one thing that people tend to forget is that the takeover was late last year and it’s unfortunate that these figures have had to be started from scratch but it’s either that or no takeover and people will still be out of pocket. It goes without saying that Epic and any other toy company worth 2 sh*ts will be working on prototypes or figures not announced yet/not been up for pre order, I’ve seen them and the company is in safe hands going forward. Also, as a listener of the show it is frustrating to hear the confusion each week about the name. Former name was Chella, Wrestling Trader are a shop who bought Chella and renamed it “Epic Toys”. Would hope that someone who’s had a name change and a rebuild recently will be able to get it Take over was late last year. It’s July bro. Come on. Let’s ing go. Lol. We ended pre orders for Demolition today and production starts Saturday. Do the work. It’s simple. Just do it.

Take over was late last year. It’s July bro. Come on. Let’s ing go. Lol. We ended pre orders for Demolition today and production starts Saturday. Do the work. It’s simple. Just do it. so why has ZST taken a year to deliver Series 2, when he stated that his production cycle would be much quicker?
why do you not openly rag on these companies for using pre-orders to source the cash for making figures, when Josh himself (perhaps kayfabing but whatever...) claimed he made a quarter of a million dollars profit from Series 1 of H&F? where did that cash go, as it certainly didn't go into investing in his production and kickstarting the production cycle of Series 2 figures and beyond
you do it right - you announce figures (bendies) that have already been in pre-production by the time it's announced - designs done, moulds/prototypes signed off and factory is ready to go. that's how this should be - company takes the risk, then opens it to market and the product sells itself. it should not be "Let the punters take the risk, I'll just take the reward"
yet here we are, once again getting artwork after artwork from "the biggest name in the market" announcing figures like Bruce Lee that he can't produce for another 18 months. where is the Johnny Gargano figure?? what's taken him so long to produce and ship that figure?? where is the Cardona vs Gage two-pack?? (for context, the preliminary art for the Cardona figure in that pack was being shown back in August 2021, only a few weeks away from being 2 years old.... yet still no figures
this is where my frustration lies in all of this, you're blaming Epic for failing to deliver their figures, yet not treating the rest in the exact same way

I had a chance to listen to a lot of the MWFP’s latest episode where some of this is addressed.
This forum is brought up and the mixed feelings weren’t hidden. For all the crap we have given people, I will say this: Matt’s bedside manner has improved over the years and even recently. It could be growth in the way things or viewed or it could be biting of the tongue just to avoid causing more trouble than what it is worth. Either way, it is a positive.
Some points were brought up that are worth noting:
-Matt directly addressed the perpetuated claim that they own a piece of ZST/Heels and Faces. They don’t. I’m not sure how many times I have seen the same people on this forum try to spread this misinformation or lie but hopefully I won’t be alone anymore in shutting them down the next time it comes up.
Brian wasn’t able to be part of this conversation due to travel issues but Mark and Matt spent some time addressing the bias. I’m mixed on this one as I was happy to hear it brought up but not the part that I take issue with. Matt made a good point in that they know Zombie Josh and have inside information regarding where things stand with his production times, when and why there are delays, etc. They don’t deny that they like his products the most.
The major issue that some of us are having is that things just aren’t treated with anywhere close to the same fairness when there are issues. If what Matt has said is true, a number of Epic Toys products haven’t even been put into production yet (I think he mentions Demolition and Sabu). I can see why some of this is taking longer than desired as some have pointed out (taking over the company, dealing with past orders, running a business outside of figure making). I also imagine the cost to try and produce all these things at once would be a huge risk and a small fortune. But none of those thoughts are discussed or given the time of day. That is where I find issue.
This does bounce back to Epic though…I follow them on social media, I listen to 3POA every week and I still don’t have a good idea of where things stand with a lot of items nor how long they will take. I feel certain that I will get my Haku by the end of the year but I have no concept of how long future products will take. Their business model and financial situation is not expected to be public knowledge but it is something that you can’t help but wonder about at this stage in the game.
At this point I’m really wondering how hard it is to get figures independently made. I’m no expert; I just would like to know more about the process from beginning to end. Find out the trials and tribulations of each company. I guess if MWFP or 3POA are looking for bonus episode content, there ya go. If you guys aren’t afraid of giving away too many trade secrets, it would be great to hear your step-by-step process of becoming a toy maker. From how you approach talent about the idea, what kind of pay structure is typical (flat fee vs. percentage of sales OR a combination), how you went about seeking out artists, working with 2D artists and 3D artists, how you shopped for factories, what you learned about the price and fees that go into manufacturing, what the process was like for creating the cards and bubbles, when you feel it is appropriate to announce something and why, your experience in quality control and voicing displeasure with a factory (need for changes/mistakes), how often you regularly deal with a factory, the various steps it takes to make each figure, what order they make the parts in, discuss the painting process, how long before you receive the carded sample vs. when the items are all put onto cards, good/bad stories about the shipping process, and what it’s like to receive the finished product and fulfill all of those orders.

Their business model and financial situation is not expected to be public knowledge but it is something that you can’t help but wonder about at this stage in the game. for the sake of clarity on my part, I've said that Matt's got a financial incentive in H+F because he is getting more figures made by ZST (no idea on Bryan's side, nothing's been announced for more figures) but the MWFP team as a whole have definitely got a personal incentive to plug the brand which are manufacturing their figures (making them hardly an independent voice in the topic)
but I also agree on the WT/Epic side - they have a podcast, and should be using that platform to set expectations. there have been a number of delays, and they've been radio silent on most of them, which is frustrating to say the least. you have a way to communicate to your buying audience - use it folks!!! use it to your advantage, and set realistic expectations (delays can happen, but talking about it and addressing them head on resolves the rumours)
I just find it hypocritical that MWFP can slate the likes of Epic for failures outside of their control, and as I've said above here - ZST has announced figures over 2 years ago that we still haven't seen the light of day. there's just no excuse for that level of delay for figures which, frankly, aren't going to be relevant by the time they come out.

Fair comment on the timescale side of things. One thing we are wary of is providing misinformation or just guessing, I think now Epic have a better grasp of how long figures take to produce compared to when they started and the factory would just give them any old date. In the episode release today, we discussed that the series 2 figures are completely finished (Haku, BWO and Tanga). We are just waiting on the bubble and card attachment and we are good to go. Card and bubble will take around 15-18 days to complete and then Epic paid for the quicker shipping for the figures. This mean it will be around 7-10 days for shipping. Molds and toolings for betting series 2, Demolition, PoP have also started. This includes series 3 and some figures we will hear some information about very soon. In regards to the Sabu and Demo, they are in production so I assume MC either has misinformation or just did not know that. (Plus the Epic Joey Knight variants are due in England any day now to be sent out for anyone who cares/ordered one) Plan for us as a Podcast and for Epic is to have a full special with a run down of all the figures that were announced by Chella and to discuss the plan for each one moving forward. As per usual we will be opening a Q+A up for questions like what Chair Shot has put above.

Thank you for the updates. Looking forward to hearing about everything in greater detail!
I don’t want to put words into anyone’s mouth. I thought he had mentioned Sabu and Demolition but I’m not 100% certain either and would have to go back and listen. There is a guarantee that I’m always doing something else while listening to a podcast so forgive me if I get things wrong from time to time. Hell, it’s hard enough to post here at times without being interrupted by something!
I did appreciate that there weren’t really any overly disparaging things said about Epic this week. No company should be above criticism but fairness, foresight, and restraint can go a long ways.

Are KWK the company that got sort of panned for ripping guys off recently, or am I thinking of someone else? The Conquistadors looked pretty good from what I remember.

Nope, that’s pretty much what was happening. Thankfully they were called out on that. Here are the latest updates involving those: http://instagram.com/p/CshDIcwvyZR http://instagram.com/p/CuPYtNBx8Y6 I’m open to ordering from him in the future if he indeed isn’t ripping wrestlers or families off and if the figures blend well enough with the Hasbro line. So far they are pretty mixed. Out of all announced, Mantaur might be the only one that might have my interest.

Take over was late last year. It’s July bro. Come on. Let’s ing go. Lol. We ended pre orders for Demolition today and production starts Saturday. Do the work. It’s simple. Just do it. Great on Demolition but surely unarticulated statues are quicker and easier to produce than retros? Genuine question. Absolutely. But what I am saying is that we are STARTING them. What’s the hold up to actually STARTING production for them?

Valid point there.
As a regular client I’d be interested in an answer. Maybe there’s a reason.

Great on Demolition but surely unarticulated statues are quicker and easier to produce than retros? Genuine question. Absolutely. But what I am saying is that we are STARTING them. What’s the hold up to actually STARTING production for them? They have STARTED them. Not sure who’s feeding you this BS but it really isn’t true, Demo and PoP molds are complete as well as other upcoming figures that haven’t even been up for pre-order yet. Not fair to tarnish them with the same brush as others and say things that just aren’t true

so why has ZST taken a year to deliver Series 2, when he stated that his production cycle would be much quicker? why do you not openly rag on these companies for using pre-orders to source the cash for making figures, when Josh himself (perhaps kayfabing but whatever...) claimed he made a quarter of a million dollars profit from Series 1 of H&F? where did that cash go, as it certainly didn't go into investing in his production and kickstarting the production cycle of Series 2 figures and beyond you do it right - you announce figures (bendies) that have already been in pre-production by the time it's announced - designs done, moulds/prototypes signed off and factory is ready to go. that's how this should be - company takes the risk, then opens it to market and the product sells itself. it should not be "Let the punters take the risk, I'll just take the reward"
yet here we are, once again getting artwork after artwork from "the biggest name in the market" announcing figures like Bruce Lee that he can't produce for another 18 months. where is the Johnny Gargano figure?? what's taken him so long to produce and ship that figure?? where is the Cardona vs Gage two-pack?? (for context, the preliminary art for the Cardona figure in that pack was being shown back in August 2021, only a few weeks away from being 2 years old.... yet still no figures this is where my frustration lies in all of this, you're blaming Epic for failing to deliver their figures, yet not treating the rest in the exact same way I wish the Gage 2 pack was already out. I’m with ya. But at least I see pics from the factory every few months. I’ve seen the finished sample. Not just for my fig but for a lot others. So I know they are getting worked on. I know they are coming. I don’t know the exact reason for every delay. But Epic hasn’t even started production on these. (Besides just starting Haku and BWO) That’s the difference. Once again, this is a lie. Series 2 (Haku, BWO and Tanga) are finished and being added to the card with the bubble. Like you with Zombie we see the progress behind the scenes of the figures and what you’re saying is not true. Not sure who’s feeding you information from the factory but they appear to be a few months late with news
