I always wanted his 04 look especially his WMXX Attire, I think that defines Kurt Angle. Mattel could have given us a Angle vs. HBK 2 pack. So many missed opportunities.

That black attire he wore in 05 was cool. Or WM21 against HBK. That’d be a cool 2 pack. Wasn’t crazy when he ended up switching to the wrestling shoes. So that time period is probably my biggest want for him, aside from a late 00-01 Angle with hair. Always loved that WM17 gear

The only thing worse than Mattel's attire choices for Kurt Angle figures these past 3 years was WWE's decision to give Kurt Angle a half-@$$ "retirement" storyline against BARON CORBIN.

Mattel failed it by not giving us his most iconic looks. Glad we have shield angle and ss2017 angle!! 🙄🙄 bill “I make whatever attires I want” miekina Yet another in a long line of talents we got terrible attire choices from because Bill has brain worms. Hey
Can someone remind me why Bill doesn't post here anymore?
I'm sure Bill wishes he had the kind of power that people here thinks he has.

Some of you guys are being overly harsh about this one. Realistically, who would have predicted Angle would have been out of a legends deal barely a year after his WM retirement and big comeback/HOF induction? I'm sure Mattel had a lot more planned out, including what people are requesting in this thread, and they'll probably all come out eventually anyways.
I honestly think they did pretty good with the few they put out in the limited time they had. Not liking the design of the figs is one thing, but as for the selection, we got early career Angle in an iconic attire, WM19 Angle with a cloth Team Angle jacket, and it may be street clothes, but the Milk-o-mania Kurt/set is awesome and underrated. Shield Angle might go down as the Mattel equivalent of BCA Jacqueline, but the other two modern day Angles are cool figs, especially the Network Spotlight with his WM retirement match gear.

All the iconic angles we could have gotten and we got a battle pack with Jason Jordan because that was the greatest storyline ever smh.

"Dropped the ball" is harsh for Angle IMO. Guys like RVD and the Dudleys for example, definitely drops. Mattel pumped out a bunch of Angles and between Basics and Elites (Basics count, whether you want them to or not) hit pretty much every era of his WWE career outside of 2006 (which yes, is a big omission and it sucks that they missed it, so that can count as a dropped ball by itself for that specific look). Also, it boggles my mind that after all these years people still don't get that if a legend has an active roll on TV like Angle did, the "current" look is going to take precedence over the throwback overall. And considering that's WWE'd overall modus operandi, I don't think it's fair to throw that at Mattel's feet.

Sure there are plenty of classic looks I would have liked, but throwing a fit that they made a lot of current looks for him while he was actively part of the roster doesn’t make sense. The Shield look might seem like a weird choice but it was his first WWE match in over ten years. The GM looks made sense for current collectors. As far as flashbacks, Milk-O-Mania was one of the biggest moments of his career. Could they have done more? Sure. At the same time, not everyone is a flashbacks collector. I believe they thought he’d be part of a deal longer. I can see him resigning eventually anyways.

"Of all the Angles we could have had and they give us look x, y, or z" like look x, y, or z is the only figure we were offered.

Once again, Mattel misses the boat on a big name talent. Admittedly, they did get out his '99, '03, '17 and '19 looks out in Elite form, as well as his '01, '02 and '04 looks in the Basic line - but an ECW '06 Angle is a glaring omission. An Armageddon '00 Elite would've been awesome too. There was no 2001 basic Angle. If you're referring to Basic 95, that was from 1999/early-2000.

Wish Mattel didn't make every Kurt figure so ripped. His headsculpts have been oversized and weak. How about an intense face? Never got the ECW Kurt we all wanted. My Jakks version will have to stand in until Mattel can get their act together. Absolutely shameful.

The figures made were fine for the most part. But for the length of time he was available, the attire choices and era choices are pretty questionable.

Not exclusive to wrestling. He was on weekly tv in his GM role so it stands to reason that he would get most his figures from that.

Hogan - Nobody could have predicted the drama that caused his cancellation. They were on a roll putting out Hogan figs when that all went down barely a few months after putting out the very first Mattel Hogan. The nWo fig was next in line and it sucks it was cancelled only a few months prior to release but at least now they've already prioritized him as soon as he was available to them again.
Flair - They've put out tons of Flairs, including a DM old school Flair with cloth robe, another DM from his retirement match with an even more amazing robe, a 4 Horsemen Elite box set, that RetroFest Elite with the red robe, an old school basic Flair in a suit, a Retro Flair and even a basic old man suited Flair. Plus we know there was an Ultimate on the way, which could have been the short hair WCW look that's missing. I'm sure we will get it eventually plus all the other Flairs people could want.
Sting - Tons of Stings too. They immediately made an elite Starrcade 97 Sting, then gave us 2-3 Surfers/Wolfpac/couple moderns + good mix of surfer/crow/modern basics + 2 Retros + crossovers like MOTU & TMNT.
Goldberg - I don't even know the controversy about this one. Goldberg was main eventing PPVs and had a huge WM match so of course they prioritized his modern look first. It didn't take them too long to make that classic black trunks Entrance Greats and then we got an Elite and a basic of his WWE debut look not too long after. If there's any complaint to made about Goldberg, it's that it's taken them too long to make another modern Elite since the main event ring bundle, but at least there's another coming in the WM set.
Dudleyz - Mattel didn't know they were on such a short deal. They were back after SummerSlam and their Elites were out before the next SummerSlam. Then they had to be pulled from the following years WM battle pack set because their deal was up so quickly. The modern Elites were made first for obvious reasons and it's likely flashback Elites weren't far around the corner but a 1 year deal didn't give them time to schedule both.
Hardyz - This one I think they should have prioritized proper Team Xtreme Hardyz but they really put out a good mix of all Hardyz eras otherwise. They can and should still make a proper 2X Jeff ASAP and luckily the Ringside 2-pack Matt would match well enough with a head swap and the Brood shirt removed.
Angle - They immediately put out an Elite flashback debut Angle, soon after came WM19 with cloth goods and then he got his own dedicated playset in Mattel's most premium line at the time - Epic Moments. Sprinkle in a couple flashback basics, which most flashback talent don't get, and a couple modern Elites + basics. Pretty good mix for that time frame. Anyone acting like Mattel failed by not prioritizing that ECW Kurt over his WM main event match and WWE comeback + retirement matches is being unrealistic. If anything, we still need a proper 2001 WWF Champion Kurt Elite still before an ECW version, if we're going by most important looks.

Hey
Can someone remind me why Bill doesn't post here anymore?
I'm sure Bill wishes he had the kind of power that people here thinks he has.
he designs and picks attires Does he design? Yes. Does he have all power of attire choices? No. Steve has said in the Q&A thread that he, Rob, and Bill discuss line ups and attires with each one having there own personal taste/view. The best example I can think of is Sherri Martel. Steve wanted the two in one, Bill has said he would have done Mania 7 to go with DM Savage and DM Warrior. Then the WWE gets involved. Steve said that Mattel had to change the color of Monsoons tie. If WWE is changing something as little as that, you can assume other changes are being made.

I honestly didn't create this thread to bash Mattel in any way, but to just notify/clarify with people here on his status.
For what we got, I'm happy with my EG Angle and Elite Team Angle. Of course we could have used more attires, but considering how many other talent need figures and how many figures there are per assortment I think what we got from Mattel was reasonable.
On the bright side, it's not like he's signed with AEW and burnt any bridges with WWE, so who knows what the future holds!
