Official AEW Dark Discussion Thread

was vipress v shanna everything i had ever hoped for? i haven't watched yet.

Some really nice matches last night, and some implications too.

PnP picked up a very fast squash win over Ryzin and Mike Verna. Sub 2 minute match and Ryzin never even got to tag into the match. I'll be posting my theory about this in the dynamite thread or the main thread too, but I think the idea is PnP are going to win the battle royale to earn their title shot, which Jericho and MJF will then demand go to them for being the inner circle official tag team, which will lead to PnP exiting the inner circle, soon to be followed by Sammy. I can only hope that this leads to PnP joining up with Ivelisse and Diamante and Danny Limelight to form some sort of Hispanic super faction.

Red Velvet and Madi Wrenkowski had a very fun match, highlighted by -1's commentary. Someone on the meltzer forums joked that -1 learned what puberty was in real time when Red Velvet came out and he got all giggly. Madi looked awesome, but I'm pretty sure she broke her nose. At the very least she slammed it real good and was still tending to it after the match. Aubrey was checking on her at the end and they cut before she exited the ring. She botched taking a bulldog and took a shoot bulldog lol.

Tay Conti is a goddamn star. She has improved an ungodly amount since coming to AEW. Dustin is doing great things with these women.

Kilynn King outperformed Shanna imo.

Limelight also picked up a relatively dominant victory over Sean Maluta. He looked really emotional after the win too. I think he's signed something and they just haven't announced it yet.

Cezar Bononi came to Peter Avalon's "aid" after avalon lost his walk off against Big Shotty. I dunno exactly what this is going to mean for the status of Cezar Bononi within the company, but it feels more and more each week like Dark has its own semi-official roster, with stories that exist solely on dark. It's been that way for a long time, but it feels more 'official' now.

Fenix helped Baron Black have the freaking match of his life. That match was 100% dynamite quality.

Brooke Havok looked pretty good for her first AEW match, and I think maybe her 3rd or 4th non training match ever.  She's pretty athletic and has a good personality. Looked appropriately nervous. It was also a solid testament to how much Britt Baker has improved. You could definitely see Britt calling the match a lot more specifically for Brooke's sake, but they told an awesome story. Actually set the stage very well for future long term sequels as Brooke gets more experienced.  Nothing flashy of course, but I was really big on the storytelling in this match, and Britt came off like someone who can absolutely hold the title right now. 

I think it was Joe Lanza from Voices of Wrestling who said it, but the jobbers on Dark should be waiting in the ring and shouldn't get their own entrance. I totally agree and think it'd help make Dark move by more quickly. The exception of course being jobber vs jobber.

Another nightmare factory debut! Carlie Bravo teaming with the captain. Both military guys so really cool pairing. They got an entrance still. Hope Dean gets a full time deal still dude is awesome

I mean, like a little lol. It at least helped me pretend. But it did really help them show some personality, which is well worth the extra fifteen minutes.

This week's dark card looks a lot better. Definitely still some squashes coming. Don't be surprised when the silver add reynolds rise up the tag rankings comes soon.

Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo teaming again for the military connection. Against varsity blondes so might end up being one of the strongest matches on the show.

Brooke Havok returning against Hirsch. Really excited for that one, Havok has lots of potential for how damn new she is.

Ivelisse and Diamante against their la sicarias partner Alize and Renee Michelle. Very interesting match there, curious if they bring in the sicarias storyline into this one. Will say a lot about how they feel about ivelisse and Diamante imo.

Third and final women's match (only three is understandable with the tournament going on).

Kilynn King returns against Tesha price. I think we might be seeing the start of an actual kilynn King run in aew. She's been the strongest of their dark women besides red Velvet, who is primed for a great 2021.

Kip Sabian returns from injury to take on Fuego.

Solow against Nemeth

Lee Johnson against serpentico

Eddie Kingston against a debuting JD Drake, who I've seen a bit of on the Indies.

JJ Garrett against qt. I've only seen JJ once from that 24 hour gcw show. Looks like a young Scott Steiner. Could be a really fun match if they give them 5 or 6 minutes.

Caster takes on Marko.

Plus some other matches that will be fast squashes.

I'm still gonna complain about no jobber entrances but hopefully this will lead to more actual matches this week.

QT needs to change back to wearing wrist tape. Wearing trunks and no wrist tape is a very hard look to pull off.

I cant get over how bad his hair plugs look lol

The Khans should send him on an all expense paid trip to Turkey to get his hair done correctly. It will cost a couple Gs but it's worth the investment.
