Awesome! I was wondering who will start the trend, lmao. Now I'm tempted to do my own franchise too. I'm liking this so far, and I'll keep with this though.

Game 6: Sunday, October 14th 2007: Final Score: [red]Detroit[/red]: 5 Los Angeles:2 Wings crowned victorious in Los Angeles DETROIT – Detroit opened the first night of their west coast tour in Los Angeles on Sunday, pulling out the victory over the Kings. The Staples Center was rocking early in the first period when the Kings scored 2 quick goals to put Detroit down 2-0. However, the Wings rebounded, scoring 5 unanswered goals during the 2nd and 3rd period to hand the Kings a 5-2 loss.
The Wings caught fire late in the 3rd period, when Jiri Hudler scored 2 goals, and got an assist. The Swedes took care of the rest, as Johan Franzen netted a goal, and Nicklas Lidstrom scored 2 goals of his own. "It was a good night for us tonight" said captain Nicklas Lidstrom. "I think we are really coming into our own as an offense, and it's exciting to be a part of."
The Wings are rolling now, with a 3 game win streak under their belt, heading into Anaheim Monday. "This was an important one" said coach Babcock. "We were down early, and battled adversity on the road, and that's huge."

Game 7: Monday, October 15th 2007: Final Score: [red]Detroit[/red]: 5 Anaheim:3 Wings drown Ducks in Anaheim DETROIT – Detroit continued their west coast hot streak as they racked up their 4th straight win. The 2nd meeting of the season between these teams ended up much like the first, with Detroit going up by 3 goals in the first period. By the time the 3rd period rolled around, the game was tied 3-3. The Wings saved face after a near collapse, scoring 2 key goals within the last 3 minutes to seal the 5-3 win.
The Wings got it done once again when it mattered, deep into the 3rd period. As a matter of fact, it was the monster Swede again, Johan Franzen, scoring the 2 goals that sealed the victory. "I guess I'm on a bit of a hot streak" said Franzen. "This has been a great start to the season, and I hope I can continue to contribute to this team."
The Wings continue their west coast romp, with half the work already done. "Well, it's still early" said coach Babcock. "I don't like to get ahead of myself, but I think it's safe to say that we expect big things."
Detroit gets a much needed 2 day rest, before heading into San Jose Thursday to take on the Sharks. Let's hope the Wings stay hot, as they look to rack up their 5th straight win.

Game 8: Thursday, October 18th 2007: Final Score: Detroit: 4 San Jose: 2 Detroit rides the wave in victory over Sharks DETROIT – With 2 days of much needed rest, some San Jose fans thought that Detroit would come out a little rusty in their match-up. Nothing was further from the truth. The game started out great for the Wings, as they went into the 2nd period up 2-0. The Sharks swam back in the 2nd, and tied the game at 2-2 before the intermission began. However, just like all the previous times Detroit faced adversity, they got it done in the 3rd period. In what is starting to sound like a redundant statement, the Swedish powerhouse of Nicklas Lidstrom and Johan Franzen once again came through. Proving to be as clutch as ever, they each netted a goal in the 3rd period to secure the win.
The offense has always been the bright spot on this team, and tonight was no different. For the first time in quite a bit, the team actually had 4 separate players scoring the goals. Jiri Hudler has been flying all over the ice, and scored another goal and assist.
"It just feels great to be out there winning" said Wings Jiri Hudler. "I go out there thinking we can't lose now, and I like it."
"Well, it's a pleasant surprise" said Wings coach Mike Babcock about the winning streak. "You never assume you will get this hot, you hope it'll happen, but it's rare."
Detroit hopes to finish a complete sweep of the west coast when they match-up with the Phoenix Coyotes in their final game of this road trip on Saturday.

Game 9: Saturday, October 20th 2007: Final Score: [red]Detroit[/red]: 5 Phoenix:3 Wings leave Coyotes high and dry in the desert DETROIT – Detroit finished their west coast road trip this weekend by defeating the Phoenix Coyotes 5-3. In what seemed like a close game on paper, was mostly dominated by Detroit. In the first period, Detroit went up 2-0, and went into intermission up 4-1.
The offensive flourished once again, and scored another 5 goals. Jiri Hudler, scored a goal, and racked up two assists. While Johan Franzen netted 2 more goals for his team, keeping his tremendous hot streak alive.
"It feels like I can't be stopped" said Franzen. "When I go out there, it's like people are just anticipating, waiting for me to score, and that's a great feeling."
Wings goalie Dominik Hasek was out for this game, and replaced by Chris Osgood. Osgood did a decent job at goaltender, but started to worry the Wings a little bit when he let in 2 easy goals in the 3rd period.
"Well, I'm just happy to get some ice time" said Osgood. "Going from starter to back-up is always frustrating.
With the Wings completing a sweep of the west coast, fans couldn't be more thrilled, and neither could Mike Babcock. "It's tremendous" said coach Babcock. "When you can put fear into your opponents before stepping a skate on the ice, it's an amazing advantage."
The Wings finally come back home to get a 3 day rest before hosting Vancouver on the 24th. With the win streak at 6 now, the question becomes, can Detroit be stopped?!

Game 10: Wednesday, October 24th 2007: Final Score: [red]Detroit[/red]: 4 Vancouver:0 Wings send Canucks home scoreless DETROIT – After a much needed 3 day rest from their brutal west coast road trip, Detroit returned home on Wednesday hoping to keep their win streak alive. With a game that can be described as no less than dominating, the Red Wings shutout the Canucks 4-0.
The offense handled matters pretty quickly, as they got out to a 3-0 lead by intermission. Pavel Datsyuk lead the team with 2 goals and an assist, while the Swedish powerhouse of Johan Franzen and Nicklas Lidstrom netted a goal a piece.
"It's always fun to win" said captain Lidstrom. "You don't expect to win 6 games in a row, but we've done it and it's exciting."
Wings goalie Dominik Hasek dominated, blocking every shot in the area and scoring his first shutout of the season. "I felt good after the rest, and I'm happy to be back on the ice" said Hasek. "It was just one of those special nights you know?"
With the Wings maintaining their win streak, they are becoming one of the hottest teams in the NHL. "I love it" said coach Babcock. "I don't know how long we can keep the us, but the more the merrier right?"
Detroit looks to defeat San Jose for the 2nd time as they welcome to Sharks to the Joe Louis Arena on Friday.

Game 11: Friday, October 26th 2007: Final Score: Detroit: 7 San Jose: 3 Game Stats:_________ | Detroit | San Jose | Score | 7 | 3 | Shots | 37 | 28 | Hits | 30 | 16 | Faceoffs | 16 | 13 | Time on Attack | 9:12 | 5:57 |
Wings hook the Sharks in Detroit DETROIT – Detroit continued their win streak tonight by defeating the Sharks. San Jose came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 2 quick goals in the first period. By the time the 2nd period came to a close, Detroit had scored 4 goals, and left the score at 4-3 at intermission. Nicklas Lidstrom cleared the puck late in the 3rd, and with San Jose pulling the goalie, the Wings added an extra goal.
The offense came out a little sluggish in the first period, and rarely got off any shot attempts. The 2nd period was something else, as the onslaught began with the help of a powerplay. The 3rd period was continued success, and a sealed victory.
The defense struggled early, but really got physical in the 2nd period. Nicklas Lidstrom and Chris Chelios were demolishing opponents on the ice, and frustrating San Jose.
"I got out some frustration" said Chelios half joking. "The first period wasn't good at all, and I knew we had to buckle down or the game would be out of reach."
Detroit will attempt to continue their win streak, which now stands at 8, as they travel to Vancouver the 28th.

I'm still playing in medium, which would be the "all-star" level if we are talking that way. I think scoring sometimes is a little too high, but overall I'm pretty happy with the games so far. Funny thing is too, I don't even have the best record in the NHL! Edmonton is 10-1-0-0. Everything is updated now

Detroit's streak comes to end as Vancouver freezes the Wings DETROIT – Detroit came in riding high on an 8 game win streak, but were shut out Canada when Vancouver defeated the Wings 3-0. Dominik Hasek was out, and Chris Osgood was expected to pick up the slack, but was unable.
"It's just frustrating" said Osgood. "To finally get serious ice time, and then give up 3 goals, is just not what I saw happening."
The offense got in over 30 shots, but unfortunately none of them caught the net. It's the first time this year that the Wings were unable to score.
"It's aggravating" said captain Nicklas Lidstrom. "When you are known around the league as the team who constantly puts up goals, you go out there expecting to score. This is not what we wanted."
"We'll get back to work" said Wings coach Mike Babcock. "We were shut out tonight, but I don't see that happening again. I think we'll be fine."
Things don't get any easier for Detroit as they head into Edmonton Tuesday to take on the Oilers who boast the best record in the NHL.

Detroit spooks Edmonton to earn best record in NHL DETROIT – Detroit went onto the road on this chilly October night to face Edmonton in Canada. The same Edmonton who defeated Detroit 5-3 in Joe Louis Arena just weeks prior. However, that was then, and this was the now, as Detroit rang up 7 goals on the Oilers to win 7-4.
The stats may make it seem like a Detroit blowout, but it was closer than the numbers say. The game was 2-2 by the time the first period came to an end, and it was an even match. However, Edmonton scored two goals before intermission for a 4-2 lead heading into the final period.
Unfortunately for Oilers fans, Edmonton beat themselves in the 3rd period by racking up penalty after penalty. Detroit scored 3 goals on powerplays to give them a 5-4 lead. After tacking on a few more goals, the game ended, leaving Edmonton in a state of confusion.
The offense came out a little slow, but completely blew the game open in the 3rd period. The goals started pouring on, and Nicklas Lidstrom racked up two, while Johan Franzen added another to his already impressive October.
"It feels good to get Edmonton" said Wings coach Mike Babcock. "We felt that we let the game slip away the first time we played, and we almost did it again. I'm happy we got the win."
Detroit starts the month of November on the road when they head to Calgary to take on the Flames Thursday. Be sure to grab tomorrow's edition of the Detroit Free Press for the October Player of the Month announcement.

Wings extinguish Flames in Calgary DETROIT – Detroit went on the road tonight to face the Calgary Flames, who they embarrassed earlier in the season. Lucky for Wings fans, it was the more of the same tonight. It wasn't quite the blowout as their October 10th meeting, but another victory is in the column.
The offense came out firing, racking up almost 50 shots on goal. Jiri Hudler had 2 assists, while Johan Franzen netted yet another goal. Detroit went into intermission up 3-0, and the defense locked down, while hitting the opposition left and right.
"It was great to see them go after it" said Wings coach Mike Babcock. "We were crushing 'em out there, and that's something to be excited about."
Detroit gets nearly a week off, before heading back home to face the Nashville Predators in a division match-up.

Detroit fends off Predators attack DETROIT – Detroit welcomed their division rival Nashville Predators into the Joe Louis Arena tonight, and picked up a tough victory. In what turned out to be quite the defensive battle, Detroit pulled out the victory late in the 3rd period thanks to Pavel Datsyuk netting a goal and an scoring an assist.
With the Predators putting up a quick goal in the first period, the offense stopped for almost the whole game. Pavel got his first assist when he made a great pass to Henrik Zetterberg on a powerplay for the tying goal. Then later, Datsyuk took matters into his own hands by scoring with 1:30 left in the 3rd period to give Detroit the victory.
"It's great, I couldn't have planned it any better" said Datsyuk. "These are the kind of things you imagine happening as a kid, and I'm happy to experience it first hand."
Both defenses played great, and really have nothing to be upset about. It's a shame someone had to lose. "It was really close out there" said Wings coach Mike Babcock. "We were dominating defensively, but really didn't have any offense. Thanks to Pavel we pulled this one out."
Detroit gets a day off before the Columbus Blue Jackets come into the Joe Louis Arena for a division battle.
