Was it just to get his title reigns number up? To show that anything can happen on RAW? To make HIAC more interesting? All three? Why in the world did they bother putting the strap on Orton?

To get him closer to Cena. Once they are both tied with Flair for most championships, Cena can come back and they can have a WM main event match to break the tie.

I definitely could see that, Flair would have to be ringside (not ref though, I'm sure he couldn't carry that out physically). Sucks if that still has to happen in the COVID era. Also, it would have to be vacated going into that match, because if one is reigning champ going into that match - with all three tied - the defending champ won't have anything to gain, as far as breaking the record, if he retains. |

Probably to make him not look terrible losing to Drew... again. Even though he did end up losing it back to Drew, it made him look better than if he was just continuing to come up short.

Orton's buried now, he'll never come back from this.
His WWE career is over. Welcome to jobber status Randy, you gave it your all, but not everyone can make it! See you through the announce table next week.
He should go to AEW, where he'll definitely be used right and can have epic 7 star dream matches!
