With the amazing return of Sting for AEW. Who would WWE need to return to their company that would create a big buzz like Sting's?

The only person that could beat Sting is CM Punk. There’s no bigger name.

Is there another answer besides Punk?
The Rock is probably the next best answer.

Obvious answer is CM Punk.
However, people are forgetting one Man...
Big Dalip... THE GREAT KHALI.

I think they might need to have more than just one big name. Bring back The Rock, Batista, John Cena & CM Punk.

They don't NEED one.
They'll likely get The Rock anyway which imo will create a bigger buzz than Sting.

If The Rock comes back it'll be to put over Roman and everyone will crap on it. I don't see Vince attempting this until COVID is over and he can get arenas full of people again. That could be a year or two.
WWE really has no "stars". People don't even care about Brock Lesnar anymore. WWE has a lot of great wrestlers who work really well but get under utilized, but no real good characters and nobody who has any type of star power.
I can't imagine based on how bad the product is and how critical he's been of the company that CM Punk would ever return to WWE. He doesn't even seem to want to wrestle at all anywhere.
WWE has only one person that generates any type of buzz, so within 6 months they'll probably bring back The Undertaker. That's WWE's only ace card. He can't wrestle anymore, but his presence alone generates buzz. Nobody else moves the needle.

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in a match at Wrestlemania.

I must be missing something. I don’t find Sting’s appearance in AEW to really be all that big a deal. Like it’s cool, but I don’t think it really moved the needle that much for AEW. To me, it just wasn’t really that shocking or that much of a surprise. I was like “Of course Sting would show up in AEW. He was one of the top guys in WCW.” I think the ending of the show with Omega did more for AEW than Sting’s appearance.

There’s not many names left. At least that they could actually get a quality run with.
Punk is about the biggest name that could still work a decent schedule.
Rock would be cool but I think we all know his only match would be to put over Roman. Because Lord knows Roman needs another “legacy cementing” win
Austin would be awesome but I think the time for that passed 7-8 years ago when Punk - Austin was the hottest fantasy matchup and Punk isn’t with the company.
It may truly be time for WWE to move on from the past and build with what they have now. Rollins, Owens, Keith Lee, Drew and several others can carry the company for the next 5-10 years.

Punk if they want a long time buzz within the wrestling community. The Rock if they want global recognisation over a short space of time.

I don't see how Punk is on Sting's level at all.
The answer is The Rock.

WWE doesn’t have to do anything to compete with a retired man in his late 50s coming to a company he isn’t going to actually wrestle in. Also imagine thinking that Punk returning to wrestle wouldn’t be a bigger deal than Sting pointing his bat at people. Wrestling fans are weird man, I swear.

Like Sting's? I dunno, are there any other WCW guys who spent years devaluing their name in TNA and then made a few WWE nostalgia appearances in the last few years? Jeff Jarrett, I guess. Scott Steiner would be similar too. I can't think of many others who are still around. DDP maybe? Booker T. Kevin Nash for sure. Probably Goldust.
