Cage just continues to get no respect. He was arrogant and took too many liberties and led to his downfall, and that was the story. But how many times can the meathead gimmick bite him before he just looks like a flat out goof?

Dumb. One thing I didn’t like outside of a solid show tonight. Cage has been booked on the loosing end of too many big matches. Just 2 The same amount of big deal matches our current aew champion lost right near the beginning. Jericho and Moxley. He survived just fine

Fun match to watch overall. My only critiques for it is they stretched out the beat down on Darby a little too much. I also think it was dumb to have him kicking out at 1. Why? Made sense, Darby is too stubborn to take the extra second rest he had to keep sending a message that cage is only winning if he's unconscious. Made perfect sense to me 🤷♀️ It was hard for me to be sold on with how much of a beating he took beforehand. If it happened earlier in the match I wouldn't have any issues with it.

Darby is a 170lbs, some of those spots like the table One should have put him down for good, just sheer physics.

I haven’t really been sold on Cage from the start so I guess that’s why I’m not too bothered by the match. I like Cage but let’s be honest he’s not the star of Team Taz...

Lost to Jericho at DoN, lost to Moxley at Full Gear, now AEW champion. So yes, I can still take Cage very seriously.

Tony Khan has done a lot for wrestling but his booking is not that good. How is he buried? That was literally the only time he’s been pinned in AEW.

I would think physics would suggest the heavier opponent would be more negatively impacted from going through a table? Force = Mass x Acceleration, Darby ain't got much on the mass part of that equation.

Honestly I'm a big fan of Cage, but he might end up being the least valuable person in the entire stable when all is said and done.

The story was that he was on a loosing streak and couldn’t get out of the funk. It played into his eventual heel turn a year later. Cage doesn’t have that story or history. He’s being booked as a meathead who can’t get the job done, even against a guy more than 100 pounds less than him.

I'm just gonna say this once because I don't like to hype myself up, but I gotta defend ol' Darbs here. I've been 170lbs, I've been 200lbs. I'm the same height as Darby. At 170lbs I could outlift guys who weighed 260. Not pound for pound. Literally more weight. Size ain't everything.

I’ve been 6’5” 300lbs, And had smaller guys lift more, but out in the field I drive them off the ball, just bigger more physical. In no believable world should Cage lose to Darby unless Darby is the heel and cheats, and especially not after being obliterated as he was in the match.

I thought that was obvious to everyone

100% the booking priority right now is Darby Allin over Cage. It’s like when Cage and Archer came at Mosley during his reign. These big men are less of the focal point and more of the foil to get the guys their fighting some big wins. I definitely feel that eventually Cage will need a title win or something to keep him strong if he’s a long term guy in AEW’s eyes but right now I feel as if Darby has eyes on him more than anyone because of the Sting situation.
